I've read a lot of books over the years, that have the complaint about editing. I’ve never noticed anything personally while reading those books though, maybe the odd word spelt/used. No big deal, it happens. I am no grammar wiz so I rarely can spot them. My review may even have a few, but I'm also not asking people for money to read what I write.
I have never commented about typos/editing before...but....

This book was a grammar/spelling nightmare. It's pretty obvious a lot of the “flashback” sections were just copied and pasted, the pronouns were wrong a lot of the time -which just made it confusing and difficult to stay in the “zone” while reading.

description

Did it ever see an editor? ARC team?
Did anyone, other than the author read it before it was published?

I was looking forward to this book, I love to see how far characters have come since they were first introduced. Character development is key!

What a letdown.

description

1. Why do these 30-to-40-year-old “adults” still talk like teenagers? There has been NO growth as characters in this series. 10 published books before this one. TEN. SO much potential to blow the socks off a reader!!

2. Punishing your child by hitting him with a belt?!? WTF! No. Just no.
How the hell can you stress the point, throughout a 10 book series, that the father beat the crap out of his kids as punishment growing up? You want the reader to feel like he was a POS for it - in EVERY. SINGLE. BOOK. Then turn around in the final book and have a "hero" smack his kid with a belt five fucking times as a punishment. HOW???

3. Why are 12-15 year olds having girlfriends/boyfriends and talks about having sex that young? It's weird.

4. Why is there so much REPETITION?? Why do we have to have the SAME FUCKING THING explained, over and over again? This was a HUGE problem for me in Damien and one of the main reasons I didn't like the book. As a reader, I feel like the author is just trying to get her word count up.

I loved the majority of the books in this series, but the last 4 were a letdown. Every book since Ryder has been getting worse. What the hell happened?

I love these books and if I’m honest I have been putting off reading the last two until I was on holiday and could read them all again.

This was a great way to finish the series each part made me fall in love with each Slater brother all over again from Dominic and Bronagh’s exploits at school and seeing how there lives were tainted before they got to Ireland was just awesome. I laughed and honestly cried at parts of this book. I just want to read them all again Alec stole my heart with his story though and by the end of the book I was gutted it was all over. Highly recommended read, but there are parts that really aren’t safe and may have triggers for a lot of readers.

My only complaint is that there was a scene I wanted written that was t in the final story of when Alannah kicked Damien in the nuts would have lived to read that scene I can only hope that one day a book of deleted scenes that didn’t make the final books get released. Yet another fab book by L. A. Casey. Only wish I could give each book more than 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

"4,5 Slater Family Stars"

This book was a dream come true for me, since we didn't have the chance to have the Slater Brothers pov in the previous books. Which it was devastating in my opinion!

description

description

I enjoyed everything about this book! I loved that we had a chance to see how the Brothers grow up in a criminal family with the worst parents EVER! How they got to be a team against the world. Their bond was unbelievable!

Each Brother went through hell until they found their HEA. And they were times that I had to stop reading so I could get it together because my feelings were all over the place with everything they had to endure to protect their baby brother. They were amazing, but Ryder was the best Brother! I knew he took care of the others but when you read it for yourself that he took care of them since such a young age and tried to be the strong one it just BROKE my heart to pieces!

They were babies, and they needed to be loved and protected, and if my parents wouldn't do that for them, then I would. "I'll always take care of you guys." -Ryder

This book was a great closure to this series! I loved the glimpses from their past and their future! I laughed, cried and my heart broke to pieces. My favorite parts were their future and how happy they were! They deserved to have the BEST HEA EVER!

In my opinion some of the Brothers went though worse things than the others but they all had to survive some shitty situations until they could get away from it all!

P.S I can't wait to read "The Man Bible"!!!

5 imma-miss-this-world stars

this series is one of my more nostalgic reads because i got into this years ago and loved every book in the series and, after 500 years, i was (finally) in the mood to pick up the last book and let's just say ... i lowkey teared up because i realized just how much i've missed the characters in this world and i absolutely loved the way things were wrapped up for each couple! although i do love everyone here, alec will forever remain my favorite H. there's just something about that man that gets to me every damn time and his romance with keela truly makes me feel. i'll miss everyone. ♡

first of all: IN WHICH UNIVERSE is it okay to abuse your own child because its going through normal puperty stuff?!? damien has always been my favorite brother because he always seemed to be the least problematic one (in terms of sexism and all that) but that was just disturbing to read.

aside from that: so many chapters werent necessary since weve already read those from another pov and it just seemed like the author copied and pasted those and only changed the personal pronouns.

If you’re going to just copy and paste entire sections from the previous books, at least update/proofread very carefully so it’s not blatantly obvious. The number of times “I said” was attributed to the girls quotes was beyond annoying. Dominic and Alec’s parts were great. You actually got added information. The flashback scenes for the other three were practically identical to the ones in other books. They were clearly cut and pasted in and reading incorrect pronouns through the majority of their stories just confirmed it.
2 out of 5 because only 2 brothers additional stories were worth reading. Damien felt written in a rush and so did Brothers (in my personal opinion).

As a fan of the Slater Brother series I was looking forward to get my hands on this book. Unfortunately I was disappointed. My expactation was that I get a real insight in the think of the brothers and maybe get to know something new but this did not happen.

The book is subdivided in 5 parts, each brother got his own: One chapter of the present day (Dominic got two chapters), 5 chapters of past events and the last chapter is again present day. Combined, all the present day events is telling a short story.

Though I am not a native English speaker I have noticed so many mistakes in grammar and spelling. It annoyed me immensely.
Some parts throughout the book had passages which were copy and paste from previous books. They were not done correctly,
I got confused about the point of view a few times. It is essential that a book is read through several times to correct the mistakes in spelling, grammar and to check if there are serious errors in the content of the text. Seems like it wasn’t done at all.

******POSSIBLE SPOILERS********

I was a bit shocked by the double standards in the plot. Georgie, the only girl which was born is 15. Dominic finds out she has a boyfriend and everybody (her father, his brothers and all their sons) flips about that. The Brothers are discussing if they can make Georgie break up with the guy. Even though nearly all of the eldest kids (I think one of the second oldest, too), which are all boys, have girlfriends / boyfriends. Some of them are the age of 12! For everybody it is more or less ok that the boys have a relationship as long as they don’t have sex, at least yet. But not for Georgie because she is loved by everyone. Jax, the eldest, 16 years got caught naked with his girlfriend. This was a total drama and he was told not to have sex. But on the other hand Kane informed Jax were he can find the condom stash.
The author is aware of the double standards. She mentioned it herself: Dominic explains Georgie that because she is a girl she is treated differently. Which is in my opinion absolutely ridiculous, the Brothers started to have sex in the age of 13 and the twins got escorts as a gift for their 13th birthday by their older brothers.
I have huge problems with these double standards. Why should a girl behave or treated differently than a boy? We have 2018 for God’s sake. I don’t say that they should have sex with the age of 13. But to totally forbid a girl to get closer to a boy on one hand and on the other to tell a boy that he shouldn’t have sex but inform him in the same sentence where he can find the stash of condoms is so wrong in my eyes. Either tell them both no or tell both where the condoms are.

There was a part in the book which enraged me big time. Throughout the series it is always explained how loving and respectful they were with each other and how the brothers hated how they were treated by their own parents. Therefore I cannot understand in the slightest the behavior of Damien: His son is disrespectful to Alannah. The son aplogized but instead instead of accepting the apology and really trying to talk to his son, Damien punishes him by belting. "Sorry? [...] You're suddenly sorry because you don't wanna get belted? [...] I don't stand for anyone disrespecting my wife. Just because you're my child doesn't mean you get a pass." Who loving, caring parent says something like that to the child. Damien and his son talked after the beating but the beating should have never happened to begin with. Absolutely impossible behavior even more, as it seems like it is acceptable to abuse a child like that. Under no circumstances it is ok to hit a child and especially with a belt. And it is totally irrelevant that he didn’t hit him that hard. A hit is a hit. There is no excuse.

The book is not worth the star I gave it.

What a series this has been. I've luvd every book from this series. It was great getting into the head of this series. It's something that I had missed in the books. So getting this book was so good. I liked that the story flowed well it went from past to present. Which I really liked but I did find that some of the story have already been told in the other books. It was only with a few of them so it wasn't to bad. Seeing these men now grown and dealing with all there children is so funny. They were all wild men at some stage in there lives and had dealt with some horrible stuff. But it has made them who they are now. The bond these men have is so good they are so close and will do anything for each other. So now seeing there kids the same is great. The way they are all protective of the only girl Georgie is so cute. I did like this part of the book. Cause she has every guy in this big family under her thumb. She needed to if she stood a chance with this protective lot. I did luv that the Slater men were even more in luv with there women. All couples have had there ups and downs but it made them stronger and more closer. I m so sad this series is nearly over I don't want to say goodbye. I 've luvd it. I would highly recommend it this book had me laughing crying happy and sad. Just what I want in a book.

Things I liked:
-As always L.A Casey wrote some hilarious and heartfelt moments between the brothers and their girls. The Alec scene with the spiders in particular had me laughing out loud.
-I liked reading the first time they met the girls from their POV and getting some of their backstory.

However...

Things I didn't like:
-This book wasn't up to the standard of writing I have come to expect from L.A Casey. There were so many errors and typos that it was close to unreadable at times. It was also obvious that she copied and pasted a lot of the flashbacks from the earlier books.
- Which leads me to my second point. The book got off to a really good start with Dominic's part but after his and Alex's parts it ended up being mostly a re-read of chapters from the previous books. I would have preferred smaller flashback chapters of significant moments and more new scenes than the slightly reworded copy and pastes we got instead.
-Finally I was actually really disturbed by the scene with Damien beating his 12 year old son with a belt before he came out to him. It was really out of character for him and I just don't see any of the brothers, especially Damien, with their backgrounds resorting to corporal punishment. Being strict with grounding and taking away toys is one thing. Physical punishment is another entirely. I also don't see why Alannah would be ok with it either.

Overall I was disappointed with the book I had high expectations for but I'm still looking forward to the legacy and Collins brothers series.

If you are like me and have read and reread and loved everything about The Slater Brothers by LA Casey then part of you hopefully feels the same way I do with Brothers. And that is both excitement for the fact that we finally have the final book as well as sadness that it's over.

LA Casey wraps it all up in this very lengthy but necessary final book to tie it all together. She takes us through the journey all over again with flashbacks to each story with each couple. She takes us even further back into the boys pasts and we get more of glimpse into where they came from and what they went through, from horrible situations to brother sticking by one another no matter what. And she tells us of the present. Where they are now in their lives, we see their children and what the joys of parenthood with the entire Slater family.

All wrapped up in one lovely package, Brothers ends this series beautifully.

Now of course LA Casey is like the gift that keeps on giving and Man Bible is coming soon which I for one can't wait for. And really we will see the Slater Brothers again in her spin off books so it's not really OVER even though it may feel like it.

This is a series that will stay on my all times fav list and one I will continue to reread over and over again.

Major disappointment!

Riddled with mistakes from beginning to end. I was expecting fresh material but a large portion of the book was just copy and pasted from previous books we've already read! I enjoyed the Brothers interactions with their kids who were hilarious. The Brothers reflecting on their pasts was very touching at times - especially Ryder, who I felt we got more insight into. I was uncomfortable when Damien used his belt to punish his child as I thought it was OTT and frankly out of character for him. Overall I would have liked more storytelling in the present as I felt this book was just too repetitive. I still look forward to reading the next gen books.

Brothers was the sixth and final book of the Slater Brothers series by LA Casey. It was a wrap up of all of the stories and told by the brother’s POV.

I’ve taken a break from formal reviews for a while, but a couple quick thoughts: I had mixed feelings on reading this book, which is why I put off reading it for a few years. I loved the series - all of it. I mostly liked this book because it was a wrap up and update all at once. Each brother had a section of the book dedicated to him and it brought the present and past together. Parts of the past were so horrific that I could have done without the detail - that’s really the only the reason I struggled. Not because it wasn’t written well - I’m a huge fan of the author - but I was already passed the dark horrors of the storyline with the other books, so I didn’t need to be reminded with such detail. So it’s strictly an opinion. However, having gotten through all of it, I enjoyed the recap and reminder of the forever love for each brother. It also brought the children to the forefront so I’ll be ready when Casey decides to write the legacy spinoff. Bring it on! Until then, bring on more Collins Brothers!

i hate what happened on the damien part i read it because i saw a friend adding it here and i didnt know about the last one so i decided to read it to see some of them being dads and while most are really good Damien is a motherfucker i hate this man who the hell does he think he is to hit his son when his whole life his father has been abusive to him and his brothers???? fuck you, i have a fondness for this family because it was the first found family i read, some couples are good although their books are not so much, i expected more from an author who spent 5 years releasing the same series.

A perfect ending to an amazing series. I started this series so long ago and lost my way with it so it was nice to be able to read the books back to back. 💕 I don’t know whose story broke me the most, Alec’s or Damian’s 😭

Becaues I love the Slater bro's so much I can't even imagine giving this read anything but a 5 star. I cried and I laughed out loud. It was so wicked to read this last book in the guys POV. Amazing. But I would suggest Casey do a re-read and another Edit. There were many sentences that had 'he' instead of 'she' or 'her'. And there were words that were mixed up in lots of sentences... mostly in the last 30% of the book. It did not in anyway take away from the awesomness of this read though. Those boys are all my book boyfriends so I could not possibly say anything bad about them lol. Oh the man bible. I can't wait to read it. I was laughing out loud when Nico gave Alec a small taste of what is in this so called man bible.

I am not sure words can express my feelings right now at finishing this book other than to say I absolutely loved it! I have gone thru every range of emotion while reading it.

This series has been amazing to read and all the books are so well written you fall in love with the characters. In this book each character gets there own part and through the chapters you read there backstory. I was so drawn into the book I shed tears and laughed out loud it was so worth losing sleep to read it and finish it.

If you have not for some reason read this series I highly recommend it. I am looking forward to the Legacy series following the children as well as the Collins brothers.

This is definitely the best book i’ve read this year!!! Lee’s writing improved so much and i couldn’t be prouder. Her characters mean the world to me, i’m really happy with how she ended the story.
When I first started the Slater Brothers series I had low expectations. I didn’t expect to love it. At one point I even thought i would hate it. But i started DOMINIC and two days after that i was reading AIDEEN. these characters really changed my life in a way i can’t even explain.
I will never be ready to say goodbye to them, and i won’t have to. they will always be here for me, and i thank Lee for that.

Loved it!!

I'm so depressed it's over!!! It would be cool if she did their kids' stories!!! I don't know if she plans on that but I can only hope!! It starts off with Dominic in the present time and then it goes to the past, in his view obviously. It goes like that for each brothers part. I personally wish she would of stayed in the present because it was really amusing, the dialogue between the guys and their kids.

5*** amazing

I love this whole series, I’ve laughed, cried and cried laughing whilst family and love will always prevail in the slater world. I love how this series ended (although I’m sad the slater books have) I cannot wait for the “man bible” and the Collins series, it really has been one the the best investments (time and money) with these books and characters. L.A. Casey is in a league of her own.

Gorgeous. The Perfect Good Bye! 4.5 Stars 🌟

I absolutely adored every word of every page in this book! It was the perfect good bye 👋 to 'the Slater Brothers' as this series stands!!😎🙏💙💕

The blend of past childhood trauma, looking back at previous pivotal moments from each of their books and current family moments with their own wives & children 😍, plus with the overall story arc of Georgie pulling it all together - from each Brother's pov, it was sublime!!!🌟 It clarified so much about their pasts for me that had been suggested or hinted at but never fully revealed and there are some REALLY traumatic events. Alec's abuse was obviously one but much more stark for me was 6 year old Ryder becoming a Parent to Alec and Kane for the first time, it broke my heart!!😭💔 I remember each of my children at 6, and I know I'll think of it always, as all of my Grandchildren reach that age - I'll look at them & think- could you do what Ryder did if you had no choice? Urgh, it's too painful to contemplate! 😭😭

L.A Casey has kept my head & heart engaged with each & every story she has produced about this family!! Each has been different but equally lovable and broken in their own ways! I've laughed and cried through them all and Brother's was no different 😎😍😭 I look forward to The Lad Bible by Dominic via Keela perhaps??😂😂

((My one complaint & why I just can't award 5 Stars - the amount of errors again 😞 I feel these books all need proof reading again before release. I don't understand how her ARC Team doesn't pick up on them either?😳 It's such a crying shame that such amazing work is slightly diminished by this correctable issue 😢😢 I wouldn't ordinarily include this in a review but as it 'removed me' from the story time & again to figure it out, I felt it warranted a mention. I'm sorry 😢))

This is, without a doubt, a 5 Star Read but for that!!!🌟

Everything I wanted and more from an extended epilogue of this series! It was like returning home to an old group of friends, hilarious, heartwarming and sets up the next series so well! Well done LA on wrapping up the Slater series in the best way!
