This is my third dashcam, but my first one from VIOFO. The video quality is much higher than my previous dashcams, and it has many more configuration options -- I particularly like the optional voice announcement to confirm that video recording has started.
The rear camera is reasonably easy to connect, although it might be tricky to hide the cable, depending on your car. I like that it uses USB-C connectors, hopefully it'll be compatible with future dashcam models.
HDR mode causes ghosting of fast-moving objects, because the camera records two images for each frame, so it's best used only at night. Currently there's an option to turn on HDR mode within a time range that you choose, but no option to turn it on automatically when the camera detects darkness.
The package includes a CPL filter for the front camera, but none for the rear camera, although one is now available from VIOFO for $13. I'd prefer to see both filters included with the dashcam.

Great cameras
I had a minor fender bender and I wish Ibhad a dash cam. At that point I looked up the best dash cams and Viofo was always in the conversation.I bought the A229 pro bundle that included the hard wire kit for my 2014 Honda Odyssey Elite. I wasn’t 100% sure about hardwiring but it wasn’t a big price difference. I got the Dongar 7-pin adapter for the mean time which also included a type c cable that I connected to the A229 front camera.Install:I initially mounted the front camera too low on my window. I reached out to the company and they got me in contact with the support line who is shipping me replacement stickers. Stupid me there is an extra set of stickers as well as a glass position sticker. I don’t know if the glass positioning sticker would have worked I mounted it where there are those little black circles near the top of the windshield.The rear camera gets power and pushes data via a usb c cable that is provided. I have a trunk hatch so this required feeding the usb cable through the rubber wire loom that connects the hatch and the car body. Then popped out the rear quarter panel and went from there then under the sideboards and up the A pillar (below the airbag) and across the headliner. I think most people take the pure headliner route but going across the sideboards made me short by 3ft. I used a usb-c extension cable to make up the difference.Settings: lots of different settings. I ended up setting the timezone offset, mirrored the rear camera and turned off the camera model, position and speed overlay. Also set loop to 3-min. One weird thing is that setting the time offset results in the correct time on the video overlay, but the file timestamp (when downloaded) is double shifted. For example, I’m in PDT (GMT-7). At 1pm PDT, the video overlay says 1pm, but the file info would say 6 am (shifted another 7 hours).Voice commands: work super good. Turn on WiFi is the best one if you like to connect from your phonePhone app: works ok, about 2-second delay in video. The main way I use to download videos, though 4k videos are quite big (800mb for 3 min)Video screen: it’s ok, really just for previewing your video and options. Since it’s mounted on your windshield it’s at an angle which makes it a little harder. Needless to say,customer service was patient and very respectful throughout the entire interaction. It is honestly some of the best customer service I have ever experienced. You have issues contact customer service before jumping to conclusions.
The reason I chose this camera was for the features. This camera is fully loaded. It has every feature I've ever wanted and a dash cam and then some. The price is a little steep but you get what you pay for essentially. You're getting three cameras at extremely high quality, and it's loaded with features. It doesn't come with an SD card or hardwire kit so make sure you pick those up if you need them. I put a 256GB micro SD card, which should be more than enough since the cameras have loop recording. If it's in your budget and you need a fully loaded camera this one is definitely one of the top ones in my opinion.
