Why Ceramic?

Kyocera's Santoku Ceramic Knife

Kyocera ceramic knives are perfect for the purist vegan diet

Kyocera ceramic knives that are lighweight

Unrelenting Sharpness

Like diamonds and sapphires, the elements of ceramic are formed in nature through thousands of years of crystallization, extreme temperatures, and literally tons of pressure. The result is a pure, dense, unrelenting material that is 50% harder than steel and close to diamond in hardness. Kyocera advanced ceramic blades offer superior edge retention, holding their edge longer than traditional kitchen knives, including high carbon steel.

Unparalleled Purity

In addition to wear resistance, Kyocera advanced ceramic knives are chemically inert so foods look and taste the way they should. The smooth, polished surface resists germs and is impervious to acids, oils, and salts so cleaning up is easy to do, simply wash and let dry. Because they are ceramic, Kyocera knives and kitchen tools won’t brown foods, won’t transfer a metallic taste or smell, and will never rust.

Ultra Lightweight

Half the weight of traditional knives and kitchen tools, these products provide a new experience in cutting fruits and vegetables. Perfectly balanced and lightweight, Kyocera ceramic knives reduce fatigue during repetitive cutting tasks and make meal preparation easy and fun.

Fabulously sharp - great starter set.
4 Stars
Fabulously sharp - great starter set.
I have been using these knives for about a year and have been very impressed so far. I bought this set after being very impressed with my mom's Shun Classic knives but couldn't afford 120$/knife. For 80$ these are ALMOST as sharp and a great deal for everyday use in the kitchen. If you have never used chef quality knives before you will be throughly impressed with this set. They are deceptively light when you pick them up - so it takes a while to get over the impulse that they are fragile. I have used them daily and they are still as sharp as ever.Definitely recommended.edit: I have come to use these knives less and less since getting a nice set of proper steel knives that can be sharpened. After I broke one cutting some chicken and had the manufacturer replace it I was never quite as vigorous with my usage.
