I've used Black and Decker products for multiple years and I'm rarely disappointed. This came in right on time to have on hand just in case I needed it for some work I was doing on my truck; I needed to switch my fog lights and the housing from a chrome end cap to a plastic one. Turns out I didn't really need it, but I did use this on another section to try and fix a panel gap somewhere. It worked well... for someone that's had no prior experience with a heating gun. Man, careful, man... this thing gets super-hot!
I read reviews on here prior and noticed where some people were having issues operating the switch (to choose their level of desired heating power); luckily, I didn't have that problem, as the cover is made of flexible silicone or plastic. It worked as advertised. I even used it to dry a portion of my faux suede couch after cleaning it with a lightly wet rag (soap and bleach, etc). I did make sure to rotate the heat gun in a swirling fashion to avoid keeping it focused on one area for too long, as it did begin to incinerate said area (LOL!). The cord could be longer, though. I found that quite annoying at a certain point. The image displayed on Amazon is a bit deceiving... the switch cover is not there. But as long as it works, I guess that's what matters the most.
DO use the stand to allow it to cool down. DO NOT use your hand to test it (by directly touching it) to see if it's cooled down. I checked out a few reviews on here, and one of them got a thumbs-up for helping me know to NOT touch that metal part. It get freakishly hot... it even smokes a little bit after you turn it off, depending on how long you've left it on. It melted right through the paint on my bumper end caps! =( Well, no one will be noticing that anytime soon. 5 Stars. (=
