Carlisle Magic Plus Paddle
Rugged Dependability, Proven Performance
Designed to provide recreational paddlers a performance paddle at a great value, the Carlisle Magic Plus paddle is a versatile performer. The balanced asymmetrical blades reduce torque and minimize wrist fatigue. Slight spooning in the blades grab more water, providing the power needed when paddling a typical 10-to 12-foot recreational kayak. The wound fiberglass shaft provides a sweet compromise between the stiffness needed for a strong paddle stroke and the flex needed to reduce stress on your joints.
Built to Keep Going
The first Carlisle paddles were created more than 30 years ago with local guide and livery companies in mind. Our paddles were built to deliver the core strength and durability that expert guides need. Today, Carlisle offers outstanding recreational kayak paddles and oars in a variety of materials and designs-each suiting the needs and conditions individual paddlers face.
- Durable, fiberglass reinforced polypropylene blades
- Slightly spooned, asymmetrical blades for powerful strokes
- Lightweight, fiberglass shaft has ovalized hand grip area
- Efficient design produces consistent, steady stroke

Sturdy ConstructionThe Magic Plus paddle is built to last, with a wound fiberglass shaft and durable fiberglass-reinforced polypropylene blades. Balanced, efficient, and versatile this paddle performs well in both open waters and near rocky shorelines. |
Long-Distance EfficiencyThe well-balanced asymmetrical blade design on the Magic Plus reduces torque and flutter so you'll feel less wrist fatigue and can stay on the water longer. The slightly spooned shape moves more water to efficiently propel your kayak through the water. Compared to aluminum, the fiberglass shaft has a warm touch in cool weather and is cool when it's hot. |
Accessorize Your CraftWhen you're done for the day, the Magic Plus breaks down into two pieces for easy transport and storage. You can also use the pushbutton takedown to feather the blades at 60 degrees for right- or left-handed control. |
A Length for Every StyleThe Magic Plus comes in three lengths - 220, 230, and 240 centimeters. Find the perfect match based on your torso length and the width of your boat. |

It's not the lightest fiberglass paddle out there, and I found the grip to be a bit wide. So it's probably not the last paddle I'll ever use. However, the paddle is of excellent quality for the price I paid. I haven't had any problem with flutter (although I'm not a power paddler) and the drip rings work fine for me.
One safety tip I got from an instructor is to buy a cheaper paddle when starting out, but then keep it attached to the boat as a backup when I upgrade to something nicer. I think this fits the bill perfectly. For now, this will be my primary paddle. Eventually I'll get something nicer, but I'll definitely still keep this one around.
I finally got this paddle 3 weeks after ordering (original delivery date not met and no one notified me of the delay, I just sorta stumbled over the updated date).
As soon as I opened the box, I was shocked at the lack of protective packing in the box. There was NONE!
I inspected the product and found rough edges on the blades. Hopefully that won't impact the actual functionality or prove to be some sort of manufactured defect.
The drip rings were all warped and kinda doesn't keep all the drips from coming into the boat. (No drip rings are 100%, but should be a bit drier than these warped rings)
The actual usage of the paddle is fine. I like the wrapped shaft, although I use gloves, and since I prefer the feathered angle of the blades, this works ok.
It is VERY difficult to take the 2 pieces apart, the button is ridiculously stiff and doesn't easily push down all the way. Will try some vaseline or coconut oil to loosen it up.
I'd go with a different brand in the future for the same price or even a tad more.
