Who is the Date Lady?
Meet our founder: Colleen Sundlie!
-
Why is the Date Lady so obsessed with dates?
Colleen's love for dates started when she and her family journeyed to the Middle East. Largely unknown in the U.S., dates were everywhere. After a couple years of bringing home suitcases of dates and date syrup, they realized the only way they could have a running supply would be to create her own company. After a lot of determination, Date Lady was established in May 2012.

Dates have a delicious caramel/brown sugar taste and are loaded with nutrients. Just one TBSP of date syrup contains potassium, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, B Vitamins 1, 2, and 6, Folate, Niacin and Manganese and over 7 amino acids.

I got this to put in my coffee as I saw it was good for coffee. Not very sweet. It all sank to the bottom so that maybe why. It doesn't desolve. Also, my bag came with a tiny hole in it.
This simply does not do what I'm looking for in a sweetener. That said, I have found that I can mix a teaspoon of this and use about 1/4 tsp less of normal sugar with some slight benefit.
I would be more enthusiastic if it wasn't so sticky and lumpy. I can not measure by hand without making a mess as its too sticky. Their are hard lumps that don't break down or sift easily and are unpleasant.
I like whole dates for sweetening many things, but I got this stuff specifically for drink as I would prefer to just use normal dates for other applications.
With some improvements in quality this could be a regular purchase for me, but it fell short.
