Just finished my first project (Misson style king sized cherry bed) with the Sprayit. I must tell you I couldn't be more satisfied with the finish. I used a waterborne Kem-Aqua plus clear finish from Sherwin Williams and it laid down perfectly. The orange peel was microscopic and once dry, rubbed out with 3m scuff pads to a beautiful satin finish. This is the first time I got that finish that just begged to be touched out of a waterborne product (and I've used a lot of different ones). I have been spraying finishes now for the last 10 years. I started with a cheap turbine HVLP which did ok with thinned down polyurethane but just couldn't handle any viscous or fast drying product. Then, along the way, I upgraded to to 2 different turbine systems, the last one being a 2 stage. Although better then the cheapest model, the orange peel that was created with waterborne top coats always left a lot of hand rubbing to get a nice finish. Not wanting to give up on waterborne, for obvious respiratory reasons and my lack of a real spray booth, I then decided to step away from turbine systems and try using compressed air but I did not have a huge compressor. Thats when I found this gun. The LVLP technology used allows smaller compressors with much less CFM to be used. The gun atomizes topcoats beautifully and best of all the amount of fluid being put out is slow enough that you don't have to worry about sags and runs as much. Anyone who has ever used HVLP knows how much of a headache that can be. The small gun in the kit is also perfect for spraying water based dye stains which are very hard to apply by hand and not get lap marks. Spraying it is just so much easier. I wish I found this kit 10 years ago, it would have saved me over $700 in 3 turbine systems. Just for reference, I used 30psi through the gun with fluid control 4 rotations from full closed and fan 3 full rotations from full closed. Kem-Aqua had a 32 sec viscosity through a Zahn #2 cup.
