I hope they’re written as well as this one.

Excellent characterization, along with an engaging plot line makes this standalone thriller an easy book to “highly recommend”!

Give it a try. You may find, as I did, well worth your time.

There is an almost once upon a time quality to thinking about pirates. From the eye patch, to the peg leg or even the hook, there are images of pirates in our head swashbuckling and they are far removed from the modern era. If they appeared in faded glory and sepia tone, we wouldn’t even bat an eye.

My very own introduction to even the concept of modern-day pirates came with the movie Captain Phillips. And of course the hero of that story wasn’t the pirate.

With pure crime family vibes, in DB Motu’s Lords of The Archipelago there’s a Corleone in the high seas. One-part Michael, one-part Sonny, two-parts Vito and DB’s Caleb Tavington is The Godfather of The Archipelago.

DB writes with an air of authenticity which reads more like a lived-in experience than it does fiction. The Archipelago vibrantly lives in the pages of this story.

If that isn’t titillating enough, throw in a hint of Romeo and Juliet, and we’re ready to collectively hold our breaths for this action-packed tale which puts us in the midst of life and death battles with the hidden coves and open waters as the backdrop.

And still as our mind runs amok in the thick of it, we have to keep reminding ourselves – this is a fictional story.

But then our thoughts, or rather my thoughts, go astray again, and I have to think, Perhaps there really is a pirate lurking in the pages or perhaps the real pirate of The Archipelago was the author.

This tale of modern day pirates is a fast-paced adventure with an adept turn of phrase. It reads readily and rapidly, leaving one pining for more. Let's hope for a sequel to the account of this honorable pack of sea wolves whose quest for just revenge has now opened the door for further adventure on the open waters. Well done, Mr. Motu! We want more.

I fell in love with this book in the first chapter. It is an easy, relaxing read full of wit, humor and fantastic characters. I did not want the book to end and am hoping for a sequel in the near future.

I debated on leaving a review, mostly because the story itself had Merit I just had an issue with the formatting of the thing. The dialogue was okay but how it was presented made it difficult for me to read. I kept putting it down. Maybe he needed a different set of eyes to look at it? I don't know it's just my opinion. But the story itself is a good one.

Great action and better story exemplifying the storied family, the Tavingtons, purpose amongst the other pirate families. Superb descriptions of action and intrigue. A book once you start to read is difficult to put down until you know the outcome. Thanks D.B.

Lords of the Archipelago is set in a fictional series of islands in SE Asia, and from the start I was unsure how good it would be - having been warned it was a screenplay prior and not a fleshed out novel.
I was pleasantly surprised. The book was well written, and far from a sparse screen play. Most maritime action fiction seems to take place in the Caribbean, the fictional setting allowed my mind to roam a bit more, more freedom of imagination for me to use in the settings.
Looking forward to seeing how it all plays out in the future books, more background on the main characters and history of the Council.
