Jimmy Crikey overcame many hurdles on his route to becoming the much-admired hero of Roombelow .

His unusual appearance was a source of much bullying. Jimmy had a mop of bright red spikey hair, a small snub nose, startling blue eyes, large pointed ears and enormous feet. The problem with Jimmy’s very large feet was that he was forever tripping over them. As a result, he was usually last in any team game, and the other children did not want Jimmy in their team.

Jimmy’s search for acceptance took him to the underground world of Roombelow and because of his many adventures in that land beneath our feet, Jimmy established a lifelong friendship with Gemma, the little lady who lived in a cave at the bottom of the well but couldn’t recall how she came to be there. On yet another adventure Jimmy discovered a cliff-side world called Lithnia and people there looked just like Gemma. Jimmy promised to take her there to meet up with any remaining family members.

That day dawned and so began another series of adventures. Gemma was introduced to her surviving relatives, who included a nephew and two adorable nieces. The world of Lithnia relied on a regular supply of goods from The Traders in exchange  for diamonites from the Lithnian mines. Unfortunately, not all the Traders were honest. Two of the Trader’s crew were thieving extra diamonites . Jimmy and Gemma uncovered the thefts and were determined to seek justice for the Lithanians but their plans fell apart when Gemma was kidnapped by the two crew members who determined to sell her off as a curio in their world of Ozmidium . The Traders weighed anchor and set off on their ship the Raven before Jimmy could stop the thieves departure.

The Lithnians had no knowledge of the world beyond their cave world. The Traders told them it was a world covered by great oceans with a sky above. These were things of which the Lithnians had no understanding . Jimmy sought the help of his Witch friends and Matilda contacted Witch Ira, queen of all water sprites, to offer her unique watery assistance .

The people of Lithania converted their ceremonial barge into a single sailed sloop and Jimmy set off on a mission to rescue Gemma with the aid of her brother-in-law , Max. Ira was able to screen their small craft from prying eyes and they were able to hide in clear sight. When they tied up alongside the Trader's ship there was no sign of the kidnapped Gemma. Jimmy and Max discovered where she was being held and followed the mountain track to her prison. They released her  but the alarm was raised by angry villagers . Not even Ira’s magic could rescue the trio from the top of the mountain, but she knew a man who could, and she called on The Weatherman who carried them safely to their vessel in the harbour.

A mighty storm threatened them with a watery grave as they made their way back across the Western Ocean towards Lithnia. Witch Ira to the rescue yet again. Which left just a short hop, step and jump (with the aid of a pod of dolphins) to home, dry land and safety.

There remained one last venture. Jimmy wanted to find the route through the underground rivers and waterfalls which had carried Gemma from Lithnia to the bottom of the well in Roombelow . With Mr McDonald’s new rowing boat at Jimmy’s disposal, he set off on his last task in this account of Jimmy Crikey’s Adventures in Lithnia.

And then it was Jimmy's turn to visit his home planet in a search for surviving members of his family. What follows is an interplanetry war before Jimmy must finally decide where was his forever home lies.
