D'Addario XT: Active Corrosion Protection
D Addario &Co. Inc
Product Description
Since D'Addario introduced Phosphor Bronze acoustic guitar strings in 1974, they've been synonymous with warm, well-balanced tone. XT Phosphor Bronze offers that and more, boasting enhanced break resistance, better pitch stability, and longer life than our standard phosphor bronze strings. The XT coating delivers advanced corrosion resistance, while still retaining the warm tone and natural feel of the uncoated string. Beneath the coating, these XT acoustic strings are constructed with a NY Steel core, phosphor bronze wrap wire, and Fusion Twist technology, affording tonal versatility with added resilience, excellent for a wide range of acoustic styles. This 10-47 Light gauge 12-string set is great for 12-string acoustic guitars.

Easy to tune but let me tell you something before the tuning review. I broke the low E string because I misjudged my octave, so I'll have to buy another one. I haven't changed strings since over half a year. First time I pulled a string, but the string had a safety feature where it won't just come flying about whipping anything it can hit. There was a metal wire inside the coated string which the coated string is coiled over. The metal wire snapped off but coated string where the snapping point is just stretched a little, keeping the metal wire still inside. When all that happened, I didn't injure myself, nor did it give me hypertension; I just heard a soft and quiet bang that let me know I f'd up. I had a weird sequence of fear then massive relief only after I snapped the string. Friendly set of strings. I am currently using the old low E string. I don't know actually if it's the same case with higher note strings.
Anyways, like a normal new string it requires stretching. However, this one is very smooth to tune. When tuning, the string wasn't clanging and the pitch do not spike up or down when I spin those tuning handles; just a smooth and gradual increase and decrease in pitching as I was staring at my digital tuner.
The strings are very easy on the hands whether you pluck or strum. I can never handle a guitar pick without it slipping so I mainly pick with my fingers and these strings were really amazing. I cleared dust in the wind and sweet child intros easily where I would have struggled with my old strings. I cleared them easy and fast. Some mistakes like plucking a couple strings instead of one gets covered up and even harmonizes well, but in all fairness, some pieces are probably not too sensitive about inaccuracies.
The strings are easy to press probably even when your strings are a little too high action. Mine are low action on the nut side so it has been quite effortless. The strings are thin so they kinda seem like they'd cut your finger, but they're comfortably mild and it feels like it would be easy to develop your fingertips(calluses) with these than pushing through rock solid thick strings that are hard to make a note out of.
Overall, great set of strings, will be way better when I get the proper low E string soon.
Edit: Got my low E string about less than a week ago, and it's just been golden. I really love how these strings sound and how easy they are to play with.
These are by far the best strings I’ve put on mine, and for reasons much more than the sound…. But the feel of them. The feel almost cushioned as you play… especially dropped down. Like the bounce of perfect piano keys. Harmonics sound like they never have before. The sound is warm and bold. They also seem to sit closer to my fret board (not sure why).
That being said, I’m no expert from a technical standpoint on guitars. It enjoy finding my fit based of how it feels and my own preference. If you’re like me and switch between D’dadario and Ernie Ball a lot, or you can’t remember the last strings you purchased when it’s time for new ones, then give these are try, you will remember them when you need to change them because they are that beautiful.
I have orderd several sets if D"Addario. The last set I got was phosphor bronze 10-47 6 string I luv D"Addario's but in this set The D string was dead I have tried letting it stretch, re strung it and it still just thuds. The other 5 are fine. I am not taking them off. I was unable to contact provider. I am not returning them. I will replace the D string with a old martin D silk and steel. It would be nice if U would send me a D string phosphor bronze .030 ga. I will still buy D"Addario's. well it's been some time now and were back to the same guy that turned me on to these string. It was about a Martin accoustic. Thats history. I have found that different guitars respond different to different strings. U have to find the 1 thats rt for the guitar. The martin is the only 1 that I have these strings on. The rest are all D"Addario but different typs. I got a new 6 string that cost 100$. Ya really. I wanted 1 that I could just leave out and grab. It's neck had a worp, not to much for a begginner. I took yhat all out and lowered the brige saddle. I put a light gauge silk and steel on it but wasn't happy yet. I was playing in 1 night and thought, what If I put a set on that's on the martin. Thanks ta Amazon they keep orders a long ways back. Found them and they are on. The kicker is I have a 100$ guitar that sound like Garth Brooks martin. Thank again to the guy that turned me on to these strings.
