Lenore Kosinski
4.5 stars — I absolutely loved the progression of the romance in this story. It felt very natural and real. Obviously I enjoy romance of all kinds, but it was refreshing to have this one continue to bypass and step over romance tropes over and over again. They both may have been opposed to a relationship at the beginning, but as their feelings developed, they just went with it. God, that was so nice. It wasn’t as though they didn’t have pushing and pulling, but it was more in line with real life. Winslow was completely unlike what I was expecting for a new Chief of Police, and yet in retrospect she had all the qualities to make a fabulous chief. She was kind, empathetic, and amazingly compassionate. She was also determined, persevering, brave and observant. I loved that she deeply felt the arms-lengthedness of her colleagues, and even the townspeople, but she bravely went in each day trying to win them over. I admired her HUGELY. I appreciated that she stuck to her instincts and did her job even if it interfered with her relationships. Griffin had a bit of a grumpy appeal, though it was more just wariness of outsiders and reluctance. I think he represented a pretty normal small town mindset in that way. But he was also smart, and it didn’t take him long to see who Winslow was and change his opinion of her. I loved how protective he was, how steadfast — for both Winslow and his family. He took his responsibilities seriously, and they weighed on him. I also appreciated that while he might jump to some conclusions at the hands of his emotions, he wasn’t so stubborn that he couldn’t see the error of his ways and apologize. So refreshing. I already mentioned how much I loved them together. They had all the different kinds of chemistry, from steamy to friendship. I loved the way they saw one another and were there for one another. I will admit that I had an inkling about the mystery from pretty early on, but there was definitely a twist I wasn’t expecting. I didn’t mind that I saw one part of it, because I still had no idea how it was going to play out in the end. As with the start of all small town series (or at least the good ones), there was a wonderful secondary cast in this one. Sure, most of them were the Edens themselves, but I am definitely excited to learn more about all of them and see their stories. I haven’t read much from this author yet, but it was wholeheartedly the cover that pulled me in immediately with this one. So happy that it turned out to be such a match for me! Can’t wait to read more.

Devney Perry writes the best small town romance and I absolutely loved the start of this new series!! The Edens are the founding family and well known in the town of Quincy, Montana. Winslow (Winnie) Covington is new and town and is also the new chief of police. She has a big job ahead of her and will be met with resistance from long time residents of Quincy. She is an ‘outsider’ to them and will have her work cut out for her proving herself. I loved Winnie. She is strong, independent, resilient, smart and witty. On her first night in town she hooks up with Griffin Eden, both thinking the other is just passing through town and will never run into each other again. Little does Winnie know who Griffin really is. Griffin is a little bit arrogant and as broody as they come. He has a bit of a hardness to him that was a little off putting at first however throughout the course of the book I fell hard for him as his layers were peeled back and he reveals his adoring, caring, sweeter side. Griffin works on the family ranch. He works extremely hard. He is focused, driven and has no time for relationships or the distraction of a woman. Until Winnie changes that all for him. I devoured this book in one sitting. I love a good enemies to lovers story and add in a suspenseful/mystery element set in a small town and I was glued to the pages of my kindle from beginning to end! I highly recommend this one! I cannot wait for Juniper Hill next.

And, just like that, another Devney Perry series to fall in love with... I should have known. This author doesn't write a thing that I haven't absolutely adored, and she just keeps outdoing herself. I can honestly say that I did not want INDIGO RIDGE to end; I could have kept reading about Griffin and Winslow until forever. Their chemistry is immediately off the charts, and this story is amazing, a perfect blend of family, heat, and suspense, with twists and turns that had me glued to the page, and Devney's love for Montana is echoed in every description of this place that she's created. Like every other couple that Devney has written, these two are in my heart, and I absolutely adore them, as well as all of their family. The bright spot about finishing is knowing that there are plenty more Edens that will *hopefully* be getting their own books, which can't happen soon enough. And, as I've said before, thank goodness for Devney's epilogues, because they are life. Seriously, don't skip it, because it's just the perfect wrap-up. If there is one book that I would say tops my most recent romance reads, INDIGO RIDGE is the one, so make sure that you see what it's all about. You'll be hooked, I promise. ❤️
