Product Description
About PETFON there are some notes for you
1.There is no more fees from the first order.
2.The working principle of Petfon is tracker use GPS signal transfor the location from controller to Petfon APP, so please do remember to take the controller together with your phone. And if you really wanna put controller at home, then please order our mesh for the remote control.
3.About the tracking distance, most customers care about is reason why his or hers tracking distance was not long as discriped, well, this is normal, the GPS signal depend on the environment, and it will be only 20 metes if you track in short distance, our tracker connect to controller used the blutooth, and the location maybe not accurate because the tracker will take the location of your sellphone service location, you will find that the location was in another street far from you. And it will transmit to Lora connetction if the tracking distance over 30 or 50 metes, this tracking distance can be longer up to miles away.
4.About the not working issue, some people may feel it doesnot work or no connection if the GPS signal was cut down by Interference factors or shelter, please calm down and redresh the location or move to another place to check the App, you will find the signal come back.

We've had this for almost two months, so I can give a review of how well it's worked with almost daily use. We were looking for something for our cat. We live in a semi-rural area. Lots of woods and fields. Our cat is outside much of the day, but we like to have her inside a lot as well, so it was important for us to have a sense of where she goes, how far she is, where we might find her, etc. This is the best product of its kind we've found. Even when it's not working perfectly it has given us piece of mind that we know where our cat is likely to be, and if we really wanted to track her down we most likely would be able to.
Positives: The map interface is very good, and gives you an excellent sense of where your pet is. When the GPS connects to satellites it does an very nice job of showing you where your pet is. Buying the "Mesh" unit extra is expensive but does allow you to use the map (& other functions) even when you (and your phone) are far away from home (and the base unit). The "radar" function is WONDERFUL. Even when the GPS function isn't working, it uses a direct connection between the collar unit and the base unit and your phone to show you how far away your pet is and in what direction. It's kind of amazing. I like that there's no monthly fee--their proprietary system uses what they call "LoPoWan" (Low Power Wide Area Network) to connect the collar unit to the base, which connects to your home internet. Customer service is excellent. The two times I've called the gentleman was amazingly patient and helpful. And while it seems a little big for a cat, I have to say it has not bothered our cat at all. It's like she doesn't even notice it's there. It seems sturdy and well made. If you have it track your pet all day you can really get a sense of where it went and where it spent most of its time.
Negatives: It does depend on the tracker finding enough GPS satellites. It's kind of inconsistent in that respect--sometimes it does a better job than other times. But when it does, it's excellent. The interface is complex, and I think the software is too--it takes a while to figure it all out, and sometimes it's a little bit of a challenge to get everything to work right. But with a little fiddling around it does. The battery power for the collar unit is good but you need to be aware of the limitations. We charge it in the base every night. It would probably last 2 days in "Power Saver Mode," so if you want to use this every day you'll want to get in the habit.
All in all, worth the price if you want to have a sense of where your pet goes and have a decent chance of finding it if you're looking for it. I think it might work better with a dog than a cat, especially if you can have it at the top of the collar (facing the sky) than the bottom. That's a guess. But we are very happy with our purchase.
This has a light too with multi colors and modes to choose from. Since our day begins when it is still dark outside for our first walk of the morning this has been great. No more trying to keep the flashlight on her and on the ground in front of me at the same time.
The ability to record your voice command instead of a ring has helped with teaching her recall. I press the button and my voice tells her to come and she does! As any Shiba owner can tell you, anything that helps with Recall is a big deal.
Charge this daily to continue to have good results. Tip: if you are inside, put it in battery saving mode and take it out when you are ready to go out. It makes the battery last way longer.

Favorite feature: you can push a button to make the tracker "chime". We immediately started teaching our dog that if he hears the chime, to come to us to get a treat. We figured this way- if he's out of sight, we can hit the chime and that will signal him to return to us for his treat! At maximum volume, it's pretty quiet. The dog can hear it, I'm sure.... but I can't unless I'm right next to him. It was hard to do this training because I wasn't sure if it was chiming or not. Plus we lost the tracker once- see below! A louder chime would have been super helpful!
Accuracy: It's fairly accurate with it's location. At our house, it does sometimes show that our dog is in our neighbor's yard, so we don't use it for home tracking. We only use it when we are visiting our 4 acre property (unfenced) to keep an eye on him. It seems to be accurate within about 90 feet. I love that it has strength bars on the app, to show how strong the connection is. Helps you to know if you are getting closer to it (if your dog loses it).
The app: It's a pretty good app! I enjoyed seeing where our dog was running on the property. When our dog came back without his tracker, that app was able to point us in the right direction to find it in thick brush in the woods. Thankfully I had my teen daughter with me- excellent hearing- and using the app we were able to get within close proximity and sound the chime- she was able to hear it (I was not). Thus my suggestion that the tracker could chime louder so that when it falls off, it's easier to find.
BUT, I struggled with how to use the app. And with the geo fencing not being terribly accurate, especially at home, I would get constant alerts that he was out of bounds, when he wasn't. SO again- this is more designed for "tracking".... not setting up an invisible fence to get alerts.
My biggest issue- we lost confidence in the securability of the tracker. Our strap broke on it's 3rd use, which is when he lost the tracker in the woods. The company sent another type of strapping mechanism, but that one added extra bulk, and in my opinion- greater risk of the tracker getting disconnected from our pet.
Battery Life: While the battery life is good for a full day of activity, it does take some discipline on your part to either keep it plugged in full time for frequent use....or for infrequent use, be sure to allow time for it to charge before you use it. We strapped on a dead unit a couple times ((sigh)).
The app- again. I found the app fairly easy to use, but annoying with all the alerts. But it is what it is. However, my husband is a little tech challenged - he struggled with the app, didn't like it running on his phone, so he really was unhappy with the overall system. Since he's the one who primarily takes the dog out to our property, this means the tracker isn't used as often as we want. If I'm with them, I use the tracker on my phone.
Despite all of that- this is my favorite tracker.

I LOVE THE PETFON TRACKER! The tracker app and controller were extremely easy to set up and they work amazing out on the trail! I recorded my voice to say "Mitzie come". I put the collar on her and trained her at home to come to the verbal command on the collar with lots of treats and praise. When I hit the call button on the controller in the house she gets excited and comes running!
The map on the app is amazing! I set up a virtual leash area and whenever she exits it, I receive a message. I hit the call button and we would watch her find her way back to the trail and follow the trail to our location.
The peace of mind that the tracker gives us is worth it's weight in gold. The happiness shows in Mitzie's body language. The freedom to run and track smells in the forest is extremely beneficial to her mental health. She suffers from anxiety due to her situation before she was rescued. Every time she runs on the trails we see her personality emerge! Yesterday, she went into the water for the first time! I should mention, the tracker is not water proof as far as I know. That was one factor that I wish was different but at the moment she does not swim.
Lastly, the customer service is exceptional. The tracker came off of her collar on our second walk. I emailed the company and they got back to me immediately, with ideas on how to find it and a discounted price to replace. They also gave me numerous ideas on how to secure the tracker better for the future. I would recommend them to anyone looking to purchase a pet finder.
Range is a bit disappointed, advertised range is up to 0.65mile or 1Km in downtown/dense space. However in a residential area with wood frame houses and trees, I get around 150m before the tracker loss single. I can get as far as 250m when the tracker is at a more open space. Tracker and controller was running firmware ver 2.6.7.
Design is nice, the rubber strap that hold the tracker to the pet collar is somewhat hard to put on, need some good fingers. But I get it, pets can rub and scratch it and came loose. With no physical button on the tracker, it can only be turn on when set it back to the charger which means it needs to unstrap from the pets collar put it in the charger then install it back on the pet. Was trying to save some battery and recharge cycle to prolong the life of battery while the pet is indoor, but found it too much trouble to turn it back on, end up just leaving the tracker on all day.
The app needs some exploring around, but overall is good. You can't use 2 different device and pair with the controller / tracker. Both device will try to communicate with the controller / tracker via Bluetooth and cause issues.
Pros:
Nice design
Small size and weight
Rich features (LED light, charm sound, button on controller (no button on tracker)
No monthly fee
Decent battery life
Case is also a power bank charging box
Cons:
Range (not close to advertise)
Price (relatively expansive for this performance)
Conclusion:
I think this works great for pet owner who wants to track their pets within 100m from the controller and don't want to pay for subscription fee or monthly data plan.
After using it for a couple of weeks now I would have to say this has been money well spent. The offline satellite map is out of date but still good enough for this purpose. It is interesting to see where our girl wanders to on our acreage using the history mode.
Another plus is the geo fence feature that alerts us when she gets the urge to expand her territory.
The accuracy is good but not perfect. The controller is spot on but the tracker is 50 to 100 feet off most of the time. That's not bad but it makes it harder to pin point her in the bush mostly because our dog likes treeing squirrels and won't move or make a sound at that time.
That said, it is nice to be able see that she is near the house or not so that we have a good idea to start looking for her.
All in all, we are happy to have this tracker for the peace of mind that it has given us when she is off her leash.
Update
Well the honeymoon is over.. When the tracker works it's good, but, lately it has been taking longer and longer for the controller to connect with the tracker. We will uninstall the app next and reinstall it to see if that helps any. If not we will have to find something else that is more reliable. That will be a shame.
The first Petfon I bought was somehow better.
Petfon 2 has a 3 star in general among buyer sand I can understand why.
Google Store no longer have Petfon download. I was given the information once Petfon sent an email.
