Product Description
The DDJ-REV7 is built to help you get the most from the Serato DJ Pro performance software and boasts a brand-new design that includes large, motorized jog wheels with On Jog Display to create a tactile connection between you and your music. The layout of this 2-channel unit emulates a professional DJM-S mixer + PLX turntable setup, and includes specialized features for open-format and scratch DJs.
From the manufacturer
DDJ-REV7
EXPAND YOUR REVOLUTION
The DDJ-REV DJ Controller Series is an ideal solution for open-format and scratch DJs as it emulates a professional DJM-S mixer and PLX turntable setup. For the first time ever on a Pioneer DJ controller, the tempo sliders sit horizontally on the top of the deck sections to mirror PLX turntables in a battle configuration, while the Performance Pads and Lever FX paddles sit in the mixer section to parallel the DJM-S Series mixer design.
Unlike a traditional DJ controller, the DDJ-REV7 enables artists to replicate the analog mixing experience with its motorized 7-inch VINYLIZED JOG wheels. The jog wheels feature customizable settings and two slip sheets included inside each deck to allow artists to experiment with torque and friction. The acrylic top plate is uniquely finished to feel like a real analog record, and includes a spin treatment to easily catch on artists’ fingertips.
In the center of each jog wheel is a 3.5-inch On Jog Display — delivering essential information to artists such as track waveforms, Hot Cues and playback positions. The On Jog Display features omnidirectional viewing angles for clear readability, regardless of an artist’s viewing angle. The DDJ-REV7 also inherits Pioneer DJ’s renowned Magvel Fader Pro for a slick and accurate response while scratching.
Sampling during scratching is now exceptionally streamlined thanks to the DDJ-REV7’s new Instant Scratch buttons. The Instant Scratch buttons, complete with four original samples, are a built-in controller feature, making them accessible to artists without needing a laptop. Artists looking to drop their own samples, even full tracks, can do so by loading samples into the Serato DJ Pro Scratch Bank and tapping the Performance Pads.
The DDJ-REV7 has 22 Beat FX’s including 3 brand-new ones and five Sound Color FX for dramatic and texturized performances. The new controller also features advanced audio components and produces the highest level of sound quality in the entire Pioneer DJ controller range.
Brand-new motorized, VINYLIZED JOG
At the heart of each deck on the DDJ-REV7 are the new 7-inch motorized jog wheels, featuring the same rotational stability as a 12-inch turntable and recreating the feel of real vinyl records. The jog wheels acrylic top plate is finished with a vinyl-like texture for an effortless finger grip. Artists can choose between low- and high-torque settings and use the two included slip sheets inside each deck which fit neatly inside the jog wheel to find their preferred amount of friction. With the DDJ-REV7, manipulating and fading out sound is simple. Artists can switch between a rotation speed of 33⅓ or 45rpm anytime and use the Stop Time setting to adjust how long it takes for the music to end when pressing pause. Artists can also halt the music immediately or slow it down gradually, as if the power on an analog deck was turned off.
Instant Scratch: Rapidly fire samples with dedicated buttons
The DDJ-REV7 has 4 original scratch samples that you can trigger by pressing the corresponding hardware buttons. Because the sounds are built in, you can fire them at any time – even if the controller isn’t connected to your laptop. If you want to use your own samples in your set, you can instantly load scratch samples from 4 banks that you’ve assigned in Serato DJ Pro with the Scratch Bank feature.

MAGVEL FADER PROScratch with style and confidence when you use the MAGVEL FADER PRO. As well as being highly robust, it’s customizable with various settings to help you find the feel that’s right for you. |
22 built-in Beat FXAdd drama to your track transitions with the 3 brand-new Beat FX. In total there are 22 Beat FX which you can trigger with the dedicated controls (New Beat FX: Duck Down, Fill Out and Helix Out). You can also pull the effects levers down and hold them to apply effects from Serato DJ Pro in short bursts, or push them up to lock effects on and free up your hands for scratching or track browsing. |
On Jog DisplayIn the center of each jog wheel, a 3.5-inch LCD keeps important information at your fingertips so there’s far less need to switch your gaze between the decks and your laptop. Thanks to an omnidirectional viewing angle, you can see what’s being displayed from any angle, and you can turn off the digital marker that indicates the playback position whenever you want. You can also mark each jog wheel with the included stickers if you prefer this method to the digital marker. |
Portable, sophisticated designThe DDJ-REV7 is solid and robust, yet still lightweight enough to grab by the handles on the chassis and carry to your next gig. Contrasting matte and hairline finishing in different sections of the aluminum top plate create distinction between the deck and mixer sections, so the layout looks like a traditional 2 x turntable + mixer setup, while the On Jog Displays mimic the label in the center of a vinyl record. |

The overall build is real solid. Heavy and feels professional, sturdy and the furthest from cheap. A mix of thick, high quality plastic and brushed aluminum on the jog wheel platters and completely encompassing each jog wheel section.
The mixer sounds, feels and performs better than the DJM 450! The 450 is already an incredible, high performance $699 mixer as is! The DDJ 800's mixer is FAR SUPERIOR in my opinion of DJing for 15 years. Many more FX, Faders and even the CF feels so much better, without the Magvel! You can adjust SO MUCH in Rekordbox's menus. You can even change the color FX preset buttons! Rekordbox lets you deeply customize this thing!
The jog wheels aren't mechanical, but honestly feel BETTER to me than the CDJ 800 MK2's and up do, IMHO. The jog adjust knob is really nice and lets you choose between a lighter, more floaty jog.. or a firm, very professional quality/feeling one.. The play/cue buttons feel better than on a new pair of CDJ's, no joke! The tops of the jogs are very high quality brushed aluminum that feel almost like glass, like silk.. Going from mechanical to reactive wheels took little time to get used to.. The 800's jogs are tight and on point! I am very surprised on how tight and firm the jogs are at 12 O'clock or even on the lightest setting. Very nice all around!
The performance pads are insanely and deeply customizeable. I can't even begin to get into how deep they get. Between the hot cue/FX/beat jump and everything.. it'll take quite awhile to customize this unit to your exact liking.. But it was worth it when I finally got it just right.
Rekordbox isn't too bad at all. A simple program that lets me access thousands of tracks acquired over the years at the simple turn/click of a dial.
Overall, being an old school DJ learning on vinyl, mastering on CDJ's and now with this incredible piece of equipment, I couldn't be happier. It takes a veteran DJ awhile to go from discs to a program, but I'm on my PC all day anyway. I have been using Mixxx for many years now as a tool to test tracks at different bpm's and test before burning to CD, so if you have any familiarity to any of the other DJ software out there, then I'd say you'd be like me and pick it up moderately easy.
I HIGHLY recommend this and I was lucky to get one at $775 (Before Tax) before the promotion from Pioneer was over on 12/31. (If you're wondering why you're seeing them at $899 now.) I would STILL get one even at $899!!!
You seriously cannot beat the performance and quality for the price. This thing is AMAZING! It feels so solid and I couldn't be happier with how much more my mixing capabilities and parameters have increased!
Also, I'm retired from paying gigs, but this thing rocked a house party it's 2nd night out of the box and is perfect for home use too! Unless you HAVE to have mechanical jogs, 4 channels and barely anything else of significance, then I would give you my 100% recommendation to just buy the DDJ 800 first, ask/think about things after..

Club & Rave DJ since 2002 - previous setup: Technic MKIIs + Numark 3001X + Serato. 7 year break from last time I owned a setup.
Serato vs Rekordbox:
This feels like a non issue. I cut my teeth on on Serato somewhere around 1.2 (Current is somewhere around 2.0). I also recently purchased the DDR-SB3, but found I needed more. While Serato has come a long way, even with DJ Lite that came with the SB3, Rekordbox feels like it's step in step - I have not noticed any differences that would have made me regret the switch. What you may not know is Rekordbox can set you up to be plug & play with the club standard CDJs. The cosmetics of Rekordbox could be the only applicable difference and as I've been streaming 5 days a week for the last 6 weeks, there hasn't been one single jump in my relearning curve that I've had to make. They feel _very_ close to each other.
DDJ-800 vs DDJ-xxx
The biggest difference I have noticed between jumping from the $200 tier to $800 is honestly the size of the pitch/tempo fader. The tempo fader on the DDJ-SB3 is extremely short @ about 1/3 the length on the DDJ-800, and depending on your genre, that can make a difference. For me, it just wasn't enough wiggle room, and the sensitivity was way too high on that short of a track. While I could spin a set on the SB3 - I have better ability to successfully match quickly with a more customizable fader, which this one has. The 3 modes it has also adds to that wonderfully.
I have not yet jumped into all of the pad's or sampler, but all of the effects, faders, & pots all are very smooth and high quality. I'm used to a kill switch, on the EQs, and while these don't kill completely, they do effectively handle the EQ work that needs to be done, to construct your sets well.
The construction is firm & solid while more than likely being able to handle the riggers of the road well. The lower price point SB3 felt far more plastic.
Overall, I would still be a price taker at the price point it's been listed at. The value is there even at full price. Its going to hold up, it's going to tackle most situations you can through at it, and the jog wheels feel like they are well put together.
I highly recommend this piece of gear.
I must say all the features in this mixer are amazing, easy to use, fun, and are plug and play. This thing plugs right in and works flawlessly with serato.
For the price point and what you get this controller is awesome. As a vinyl scratch and performance House music DJ I love it, except for the fact its not a turntable and its small jogs make scratching and backspinning very difficult compared to what I'm used to. Even compared to CDJs which I also own. Not to say you can't scratch or perform tricks because you totally can, but just for my own personal preference I prefer bigger platters or jogs with adjustable tension so I'm only giving 4 out of 5stars for that reason along with inability to run analog thru the mixer portion of it. Otherwise, this is one helluva value packed piece of equipment! So if your looking for an entry level controller, I highly recommend this one. It compares to more expensive models, its battle style, it gives you everything you need to learn all the basics and gives you nothing you dont or won't need.
Cheers!

Wireless sound through Bluetooth from my phone to the speaker system adds a delay but can still do wireless mixing if you set your cues and let the software sync before transitioning. For more advanced DJing will use the audio cable. This is no toy and looks professional. As mentioned, great entry level for those hobbyists and entering the DJ world.
