1) On the heavier side, these headsets are rather large and heavy because of the 50mm drivers, so if wearing heavier headphones affects you keep this in mind.
2) Very bass-heavy, Razer are in the camp that sets their headsets closer to the bass side, I absolutely love it but I know not everybody does.
3) Similar to #1 but these headphones are larger, the clamp is more so on the top than the sides and are designed for larger heads. If you have a smaller head these may not be for you, you’d be better off with a Steelseries (7x or 9X are excellent too and better equipped for smaller heads).
4) The headphone cups tend to heat up your ears over time, so long gaming sessions can make you notice that.
5) The cords going into the drivers are actually a little exposed, I don’t really like this since that means they have a higher chance of getting damaged. I had my first pair of these for almost 3 years though without them getting damaged so maybe my worry is just superficial (my dog got to them, otherwise I’d still have my first pair).
Ok so that’s all the bad, most of which are nitpicks and just details as to who this headset is best suited for. Now onto the good:
1) Sound quality is better than most headsets IMO, at 28kHz they have crisper audio compared to the industry standard if 20kHz, there’s only a handful of headsets that match or best this audio.
2) Comfort; because of my larger head, this headset is absolutely the most comfortable pair I’ve ever worn, the only ones close to this are the Nari’s (also Razer), the Arctic 9X and the HyperX headsets. In particular, the top part just melds with your head without you needing to adjust it, I absolutely adore this.
3) Design. I always look at these as absolutely stunning in terms of build quality, while most of it is plastic it somehow just looks so much more durable than it is, this headset is a bit older but wipes the floor compared to headsets made around the 2017 times.
4) Longevity. I cannot say this any more than I already have to people asking me what headset lasts the longest, like I said earlier my first pair lasted me 3 years and would’ve lasted probably double that if not for my dog. There was slight wearing down of the leatherette ear cushions but replacements only run about $20 or so and I didn’t even end up replacing them before they got chewed up. Now, I will preface that I treat my stuff very well, I don’t throw or hit them, or yank them around. These took a few moves and drops, but otherwise they were worn and carried, or just rested somewhere charging.
-These do take a bit to fully charge and make an annoying beeping sound every 10 seconds or so once the battery is low
-The earpieces swivel fairly easily so keep that in mind when grabbing them
-When first turned on it takes about 5 seconds or so to get your first audio input.
-These are not noise canceling headphones, the ear cushions are massive and just naturally block out some noise, and the volume is certainly good enough at overpowering any external sounds from coming through, but these do not actually have any tech or engineering to actively cancel noise.
They are pretty big in size, but due to the suspension headband design they do not feel that heavy. The ear pads are comfortable too but tend to get warm after 2-3 hours. So I bought the cooling gel ear pads sold by Razer, which in my opinion are more comfortable and Razer should have provided them as a spare part.
These are designed for console, so they do not have Razer Synapse support and hence no customization options to the EQ. At least that's what Razer support told me. I like the default sound signature, but custom EQ option would have been better. The battery life is close to 14-15 hours, based on my usage, with the volume set two clicks below max. Overall this has been a great purchase !!
Pros: I needed the ability to control the game vs chat volume, as well as be able to mute myself easily so I stop telling my friends to be better at games. The volume/mic controls on the headset are easy to get used to, and the 1st charge lasted me well over 12 hours of gaming. Syncing the headset works just like syncing a controller.
The sound quality is great for a wireless pair (no lag), with the surround sound feature so I know if people are on my left or right. To say these headphones are noise cancelling, is an understatement. I can't hear anything but my headphones with these on, nor does the mic pick up any feedback no matter how loud I pump it.
I previously used the XBOX one Microsoft Generic headset, which for the money was okay, but I wen't through 3 with the plastic headset just cracking. Razer is 30x more durable, zero issues thus far. The mic doesn't always want to stay in the same spot, but always works even if its not pointing the right direction.
Good for Netflix as well if you're significant other is sleeping or you are just trying to tune them out.
Cons:
-While the battery life is long, once the headset gets below whatever % battery, it starts beeping in your headset, near every 2 minutes (maybe less), so you are basically forced to plug in for charge. The wire they give is long, but I'm still basically forced to sit right at my TV if I'm mid session. Just don't forget to charge after 8ish hours of gaming.
-The headset randomly gets spotty reception. I find a simple power off and on usually re-syncs the headset correctly.
-The headset is bulky, but I'm not gaming to make myself look cool.
-Ears do get hot with the headset, but I don't think any worse than any other noise cancelling headphones
Overall happy with my purchase, I did spring for the 3 year warranty, not sure if that was worth it yet. I've recommended this to my other friends.
