23 customers mention13 positive10 negative

Customers are mixed about the autofocus of the lens. Some mention that it works quite well, is very responsive to the focus button, and holds focus much better when you're moving around. However, others say that it's not that responsive, struggles a tad to focus on zoomed in subjects, and is a microsecond slower than the GMaster or Sigma Art series.

Very Sharp and love the button on lens (use for MF)

Very Sharp and love the button on lens (use for MF)
These are just unedited photos taken around the house today (so not award winning). Am taking the lens for an event shoot tomorrow. What was so cool is that you can program the button on the lens for almost any use and I programmed it for MF/AF. I find the G2 just a bit sharper corner to corner than the first model. Plus, having a manual focus shortcut just makes things so much easier. I find the bokeh a bit better than the first lens too. Is it worth the upgrade to purchase? I was using someone else's old Tamron, so it wasn't an upgrade for me. I guess if you sold the first model and got 500-700 for it, it would be worth the 200-300 difference (at least to me).

This is a great all around lens. I use it with a Sony A7RIII and so far it has been amazing. Love how close you can get to the subject. The auto focus is very good (did the version 3.0 update), not super fast but it's not slow enough to cause an issue. I enjoy the feel of the lens it's very solid and the material is sleek. It is a steal for the price! Also it came with a lot of accessories, the backpack is really nice.

This lens gives so much bang for the buck. Super sharp and a very practical zoom range if you can live with losing 4 degrees at the wide end from the standard 24-70. I tried it out yesterday on the photos of the camera and I was not disappointed at all. The build quality seems quite good. It does have a solid feel although it's plastic, but that keeps the weight and price down so I'm ok with that. This is a great all-round lens for the Sony E-mount system that everyone should consider.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best bang for your buck!!!!
Reviewed in the United States on June 6, 2019
Absolutely love this lens. Over the last months I have been searching on YouTube comparison videos between this and the G master although the G masters is a native lens to Sony the tamron has done a well job to build a good quality lens. I have use this for the last two events and I love it. The focus is very fast. I did the software upgrade for the lens and for my Sony A7iii. Included some recent pictures from some of my photo shoots.
