Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.
I have been playing trumpet seriously for 32 years-mostly classical music. I'm not a professional player, but I've had numerous gigs over the years and have played with good groups. My other instruments include Bach Strad B-flat and C trumpets, Schilke E-flat/D and Piccolo trumpets, and a Yamaha professional cornet. I've always wanted a flugelhorn (have only laid my hands on one a few times) and was hoping that this instrument would be on par with the other high quality instruments that I have. As soon as I opened it and started playing it, I was blown away. It has a gorgeous warm sound, like I was hoping. My kids said that I sounded better on this instrument than my others. My Yamaha cornet doesn't play quite as easily as my other instruments in the upper range (A above the staff and higher). So I was pleasantly surprised that I had no issues with this Yamaha flugelhorn on the higher notes. It's going to be a blast to play the unaccompanied Bach Cello suites, Arban's cornet solos, Chuck Mangione charts, hymns and more with this flugelhorn. It really brings out the best in my playing and I highly recommend it! The valves move nicely right off the bat and so does the third valve slide and tuning pipe. The case seems nice. The mouthpiece that it comes with is a Yamaha 11F4. I normally play on a Bach 3C and something comparable for cornet, and this one felt good (not sure how it compares with regard to specs). I'm extremely happy and excited about this flugelhorn!

Received my Yamaha YFH-631G yesterday and could not stop playing it since. It was exactly what I had expected and more! I never thought I could play so beautifully. This one’s a keeper.
