This is a good watch. I will start out with the negatives, because there are a couple of them.First, the illuminator is pretty useless in the dark. You will be able to see the hands very easily....but nothing else. Actually, if you want to see the led dispkays, hit the led light button then put your finger over the display and the light will bounce off of it and light the led displays enough to be read. Pretty lame, but at least it works.Second, I hate the plastic strap. It is very uncomfortable and unless you work in mud or constantly dive, I would recommend getting a cancas strap. These are way more comfortable. Also, I bought this:https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07WZCCWDT/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 This will make it possible to use almost any 22mm wide watch band with this watch. You can see it in the photo. Now for the positives. It is accurate to within 2 seconds a month. This is very good for a non-sychronized watch and pretty much better than most should ever need. Instructions are very easy to understand and the watch features are easy to follow. The watch can do all of the usual features, but 99% of the time, you're just going to look at the time and the date. the watch is water resistant to a depth that by the time is springs a leak, you will have long done that yourelf! Also, the watch is extremely durable and the Crystal is scratch resistant but also sits 1/8" down in the bezel so it's pretty well protected to start. If you want a handsome, reliable watch, with no drama, this will serve you well. I would definitely recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great watch all around
Reviewed in the United States on September 4, 2018
I am a long time watch lover and my tastes are evolving. I don't know why it took me so long to consider Casio for my collection, let alone to wear every day. I now have 4 Casio's, this being the best in terms of highest price. I'm now a huge fan, and I highly recommend this watch for 4 reasons. 1) it looks great for everyday use. Maybe too big and sporty for dress occasions, but highly styling (imo) for business casual to mowing the lawn. 2) it is highly durable. Fall in the water, do yard work, don't worry about the watch. 3) Compass and temperature sensors in addition to the usual world time, countdown and stopwatch, could be seriously useful. 4) Great value for the price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better looking than the big brother GWG-1000-1a
Reviewed in the United States on March 28, 2017
I am very happy to have ordered this watch. Most likely like yourself, you may be looking at a GG and the GWGs. Is the GWG worth it? That's up to you. To me it was not. Here's the scoop...I went to the store to see the G shocks in person. They did not have GWGs but they had GGs in beige, olive and the black and gold edition. They did not have this all black 1a edition since this is not a US edition. I tried the beige and olive ones on. They fit good but I was not excited about them. Seeing this 1a all black on Amazon I thought this was the best looking model so I gave it a shot. I am very happy I took the plunge. The white and black contrast makes for an easy to read beauty. It's not all tacti-cool like the beige or olive but I dare to say it simply looks better. The watch is large so be aware that sub 7" wrists might find this watch appears oversized on you. I'm 6'2", 200 lbs and have 7.25-7.5" wrists for comparison in the pictures. The watch wears light and comfy for it's size. I think the GWG would be too large for every day use. I'm happy to settle for the under appreciated GG series. Most people don't use all the ABC sensors and if you did you can get the Rangeman for 1/3 the price of the big MudMaster. I like the compass and temp sensor but I won't be using them daily. I do miss the the solar power but I can live without it if need be. Multiband is also nice but no one needs it. So anyways, the GWG is a sweet watch. But for me it's too big for daily wear and it's full of features that make it triple the price of a GG. I paid $230 for the 1a. I think that's fair for what you get. I would not however pay MSRP for it though as it should have more features to make it worth that price. So if you like the all black 1a I say go for this GG series. To me it looks even better than the GWG 1a. Those goldish numerals just don't do it for me. These white ones really pop against the black. I hope this helps you in your buying decision. Don't feel like a cheap skate if you get a GG. Be realistic and ask yourself if you really like the GWG for what it is.
