When Owen meets Stasia his werewolf senses howl to life and he's certain of one thing: Stasia is his.

He’s there to be her bodyguard, not claim her as his mate. His job is close to impossible, especially since his client tries to fire him the moment they meet.
But this werewolf won’t back down.

Stasia’s sick of cocky men and she won’t fall for the cheerfully overbearing bodyguard she’s stuck with. It doesn’t matter that he makes her heart pound and her fantasies run wild.
When Stasia is yanked out of her glittering life of wealth and privilege and into Owen's world of fur and fangs she'll need to grapple with an impossible new reality that includes werewolves, silver bullets, and fated mates.

And she may just have to cope by kissing her bodyguard senseless.

Thrilling start to a new series. Stasia doesn’t want anything to do with her family’s wealth but she always gets dragged into the middle of controversy surrounding that wealth. The latest it is and attempted kidnapping so her brother makes the executive decision to hire her a bodyguard. Unbeknownst to them Owen, the bodyguard, is not what he appears to be he is more. Will Owen be able to protect Stasia? Will she be too headstrong and independent to let Owen protect her? I can’t wait for the next installment of this series.

After reading this book, I was intrigued by the good writing from the author. I think that the writer developed a plot that would really capture her readers attention. The drama in the story was a little on the light side. The book focused more on the growing relationship between the couple. These scenes I didn’t mind at all. I had a great time reading the passionate embracing the two shared. I will say that I would like for them to have started their kissing adventures earlier in the book. The plot to the book, I would like to have read more on the intense scenes, perhaps add more action in between the moments of the love affair between the couple.

Stasia is used to having to navigate life as a billionaire's daughter. Everyone wants her as a tool - a chance to step up in the company/get some quick cash or to ransom. But Stasia is no pandered princess, she is a capable and enthusiastic ER doctor. She thrives on pressure and hard decisions.
When another kidnap attempt is made, her father and brother insist on beefing up her security.

Enter Owen. Newly turned werewolf, experienced Soldier, and now bodyguard. He thought protecting a stuck-up billionaire's daughter would be a cakewalk but Stasia is anything but easy.

Owen & Stasia’get off to a rocky start between his preconceived ideas about her and her stubborn streak. She's kind of put herself in danger if it means she doesn't have to deal with her family! They are not the Brady Bunch - between a revolving door of stepmothers and siblings of vastly differing ages -Stasia's family is anything but typical. Her closest relationship is with her sister Em, who also gets pulled into the adventure.

I loved Stasia and her straightforward approach but I could have slapped her a couple of times - she really does not do taking orders! I also enjoyed the fact that Owen doesn't really know everything about being a werewolf. His turning was anything but "conventional" and he's still learning as he goes. So Stasia setting off this very different pull in him is making him all Alpha!

I loved the rest of the "pack" and I can't wait to see what happens with him. I do hope Em gets involved with a certain protector!

This new series is off to a great start I loved this book, the characters are amazing and very believable. Stasia comes from a wealthy family and is a Doctor and can support herself but when she is nearly kidnapped her father and brother both agree she needs a bodyguard so they hire Owen to protect her but when he shows up at his door Stasia is not interested at all and slams the door in his face. Owen just met his new client Stasia but she refuses his help but he admires that she is a strong independent woman but the biggest shock was that he found his mate. Stasia is so angry that her family has hired her a bodyguard without her permission and lets them know all about it and refuses to go a long with it, but on the plus side if she must have someone at least he is easy on the eyes. Can Owen keep her safe while trying to keep things professional and can Stasia live in his world for the time being amongst shifters she didn’t know existed. Great first book

When a man tries to abduct Stasia in broad daylight on a NYC street, her father insists on hiring a bodyguard for her. Owen, expecting a spoiled rich princess, is taken aback when she closes the door in his face. His wolf recognizes their mate immediately. Stasia is soon drawn into his world, and will need to choose between her former life and one where werewolves exist.
Owen is not one of your stereotypical romance wolf shifters. Happy-go-lucky, he is confident in his softer side, and tongue-tied when he meets his mate. Not that I don't love alphaholes, but Owen isn't one. Stasia is unapologetically prickly, but still manages to be likable and relatable. Kate Rudolph is a master storyteller, and this is another winner. A wonderful fantasy, it is a solid five stars.

Bitten by the love bug

I fell in love with this book from the very beginning. The author gave us these fantastic characters with strong personalities, hearts full of love, and chemistry galore. I enjoyed the connection between this couple and the relationship that grows between them. And the way they were open to each other’s families warmed my heart. The author kept the danger high intensity and the glimpses we saw of the pack left me thirsting for more. This book is a phenomenal series starter and I can’t wait to read the next installment.

I wasn't in love with Stacia or Owen. Stacia kind of had too much of an attitude and then she just does a one-eighty and was like yeah, he's mine now and Owen was kind of too chipper at the beginning. I guess there was a turning point where they both became bearable? Maybe if I had read it instead of listening to the audio because I wasn't a fan of the audio.

A very exciting new take on the werewolf trope. I liked that this is a love story first and a paranormal story second. Stasia and Owen Fall in love, and despite the „mate“ thing for Owen their interaction is real and normal and very Sweet.
I‘m excited by the promise of more in depth stories as each pack member finds their mate.

This book was silly.
- There was too much going on. Werewolves! Heiress with nine half siblings, two of whom have the same name! But actually she's also a doctor in the middle of a career crisis! The guys who turned the MMC are here in New York but we are never told why! Kidnapping attempts that make no sense! Mates? Mates!! New discoveries about werewolf physiology! Etc.
- Protective alpha bodyguards are great, but this isn't that. The hero is a doofus, to the point where I was not convinced he could do his job effectively (and in fact, he couldn't). Incompetence is never sexy.
- Sex scenes are formulaic and tepid.

After a cult ceremony while Owen and his team were stationed in Germany in the Army they are turned into werewolves. In an attempt to cover what happened to them the Army discharged the group and now they have decided to start their own security business. With the General's contacts things are progressing well and when he assigns Owen to babysit a spoiled princess who has had 3 kidnapping attempts in the last year he doesn't hesitate. However, when he meets Stasia he soon learns that there is more to her than her daddy's money. In fact, his wolf is all but howling the word mate at this woman he is sworn to protect. Being a werewolf is still new to the team and this new development could make the possibility of leaving her after the job is through very difficult.
I listened to this book on the Libby app. Impulse audiobook download and I will say that this book has made me rethink an earlier decision of mine. A few months ago I was listening to a military romance and was bored so I assumed I was over the military macho man type and had finally gotten them out of my system. I thought wrong. While these boys are no longer active military they still default to a commanding officer and I have the biggest crush on Owen. Not even sure why. I generally go or brunettes instead of blondes and his personality is more class clown than anything else. Still, he's adorable and I'm glad he found his human. Stasia was a bit harder to love, only because of her closed off nature. She isn't the pain expected, and I suppose anyone who had lived the life she has would be detached as well.

This book is different from most shifter books in that they aren't born or bitten. Instead a cult-like ceremony was preformed on the team, who had previously not even known each other. The characters are great and I need to see who Emmie ends up with. She seems so hardworking and I low-key love her already. Some pettiness, sass, and a whole lot of talent wrapped in one pretty package.

Another difference with this book is being the first in a series you automatically assume you're going to be reading about an alpha. While Owen is decidedly an alpha male he isn't pack alpha or even second in command. In fact, at the beginning of the book he is referred to as someone that no one really depends on. It's interesting that the author chose to start the series off with him.

Now then, this book wasn't all peaches and cream. The job was to keep Stasia safe from kidnappers while her brother and father worked to resolve the issue. Sounds simple enough, but we never got an answer as to who was behind the kidnappings and what their true motive was. It annoys me when things are left unresolved unless it's part of a bigger background things. However, when it pertains to the story I feel those things should be resolved by the last page.

After people try to kidnap Stasia off the streets of New York, her rich family demands some added security for the doctor. Her brother mixes in some outside forces to smooth the process over. New bodyguard Owen arrives only to find this job is anything but routine. The wealthy heiress is not some diminutive princess, tries to fire him then give him the slip, and his inner wolf has been screaming non-stop about claiming his mate since he laid eyes on her. Anastasia relents and agrees to be cooperative for one week. She cancels most of her volunteer clinic shifts, stays quietly at home, and is struggling to keep things professional with Owen despite her annoyance at that romantic cliché. Then her sister Emerald visits and encourages the two to enjoy their time together. Only Owen is forced to drag them both along when one of his coworkers is hurt. The patient changes mid-procedure and bites Stasia who must now learn about the unusual lycanthropes as she is likely to become one.

This book gets a mixed review. While I was reading, I was having a generally good time. The creation of this pack (Cult ceremony in Germany) is original and creates some innate conflicts and confusion as Gibson tries to step up for this group but there are a lot of unknowns. I liked Stasia’s burden of her family and wealth. She can’t get completely away from it, but she doesn’t want to cede control of her life. She uses it when it benefits her, and she doesn’t obligate her feelings or check negative statements about certain members or behaviors. That seems grounded or realistic. It’s a layered tale which is trying to establish the world for the series and match our first couple. It gets one ding from me because it is the “fated mates” trope where instalove doesn’t go beyond lust for the pages but it is romanticized as something epic so we can add more make-out scenes without feeling tawdry. The main issue is that by the end I’m disappointed in the lack of resolution. I understand that the series narrative will look more at the way her family’s illegal dealings might relate to the pack’s transformation, but we don’t know what the kidnappings were about. Owen was never looped into the investigations. It seems like sabotage that her security team was removed before the danger left. Our leading lady is indisposed for the climatic finale battle so we can’t concentrate on either action. They turn the captives over without interrogating them. Then they go to a party with her family like all is well. Makes no sense. Knowing the next book will shift to another pack member and their mate (even if that is Emerald) we won’t be following up on those loose ends which is disappointing. Likable characters, interesting mythology, okay action, terrible mystery, and an unfinished story.

Hunting Season is the first book in a brand new wolf shifter romance series by Kate Rudolph. I can't tell you yet whether they'll be standalone since this is book 1, but it does seem that there is an underlying storyline playing out in the background.

The book is written in third person omniscient perspective from the lead characters' perspectives. Owen is a 'retired' military man turned werewolf and bodyguard still learning what it means to be a werewolf with no one to guide him but his team of also newly turned werewolves. The group takes on bodyguard jobs for a living while hiding their nature from the world. His newest assignment is Stasia, the daughter of a VERY wealthy business magnate and an ER doctor who recently stumbled through a botched kidnapping. He gets to learn a new facet of his existence when his wolf summarily informs him that she's their mate.

Owen for his part is very positive and upbeat, taking everything in stride, including this new information. He dedicates himself and makes it his goal to make the good doctor his. Stasia is not your typical spoiled little rich girl-she fights for independence from her father with everything she has and spends most of her life in emergency rooms and good will missions. She is understandably jaded, distrusting of most people, and especially unhappy to be saddled with a bodyguard. They have some adventures, a few mishaps, some fun times, and eventually find their way to each other. The group gets to learn more about their 'condition' as we go. I look forward to them discovering new aspects of themselves as the series continues.

If you like your paranormal romance full of shifters, intrigue, steamy scenes, interesting family dynamics, and a bit of action, this is a great one to try out!

What a great paranormal novel this was. After reading this part, you can't help but want more!

Stasia is one of 9 children of a very rich man with a powerful company. She has distanced herself from it and lives her life as an ER doctor. That doesn't stop others from trying to kidnap her. When an attempt is prevented, her father decides it's time for a security team.

Owen teams up with 6 other army mates as bodyguards. After going through a strange ritual in Germany, completely against their will, they find out that they are changing and become a werewolf. After 2 years they still don't quite know how it works but it has its advantages in the work as a bodyguard. Once he meets Stasia, his wolf knows for sure, she's his fated mate. But how do you tell a woman what you are and what she is to him? Can an ER doctor accept what cannot be proven? And, is she in danger if she's with him?

A wonderfully well-crafted story. A love story as it should be, a mystery that does not know its rendering, plenty of action. Everything in 1 book.
This is part 1 of a series. I will definitely be reading other books in this series.

Highly recommended

Stasia's used to complications due to her billionaire father. She's made a life out of doing things her way, and avoiding using her father's connections or money. A frequent target of her dad's dealings, Stasia once again finds herself a target of his enemies. Forced into accepting a body guard, Stasia must confront her own person life choices particularly her choice to be alone.
Owen works with his former military team in their private security company. Easy going, dedicated to his tasks and supporting his new life, his world is tipped on edge when his new assignment threatens to reveal a big secret.
This is my first book by this author, and it will not be my last. I love the characters and she has developed quite an interesting back story for the security company. These two characters both have huge walls. It was entertaining to see both of them forced to evaluate their life choices, learn to trust and open up to another person. This story is rather fast paced and has some exciting twists. I look forward to seeing where this series goes.

I liked Stasia and Owen. While Owen was a werewolf he wasn’t your typical grunting alpha. He had an easy go flow that made me smile. Stasia while coming from money didn’t act like a spoiled drama queen.

This is the first in the series so establishing is needed and I give a lot of leeway for that. There are many things within the plot itself that don’t make sense if you take a minute and really ponder, namely Stasia’s family and how they may be tangled up with what happened to Owen while he was in the military, plus let’s not forget her family drama.

There are also some fuzzy issues within the werewolf family that Owen is a part of. Some points were brought that were left hanging. Both Stasia and her sister’s really easy acceptance of werewolves and just going about their lives like nothing life altering has happened did seem a bit of a stretch.

Despite these weakish points, I did enjoy the story and want to learn more. I’m hoping that the plot holes are filled and we get more substance in the next books in the series.

I’ve always enjoyed Kate’s alien romances, so I wasn’t surprised to also like her first shift story. Stasia is nearly kidnapped in broad daylight from the streets of NYC while on the phone with her billionaire father. Her dad and brother insist on hiring her a bodyguard to ensure her safety.

Owen shows up to Stasia’s door thinking this is another assignment to babysit a spoiled princess and is surprised at how wrong he is. Stasia is a no-nonsense woman who tells him she doesn’t want a bodyguard, slams the door in his face and then leaves out the back way of her apartment. Owen’s wolf is acting different after meeting Stasia, saying mate whenever he thinks of her or sees her.

This is a quick read about a chipper wolfshifter bodyguard and his beautiful protected - a doctor who doesn’t warm up to many people, but has decided to accept him. The storyline ends with some of the plot open to continue in the next book in the series, but the Owen and Stasia are definitely a happy couple and the reader is NOT left at the edge of suspenseful cliffhanger.

I received an ARC from the author and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

Stasia grew up the daughter of a very wealthy father. With the wealth comes danger. Owen and a group of guys, led by Gibson, were in the military at the same time but not together. Their decision to band together and start a security business came from surviving the same event that changed them into werewolves. Stasia is the victim of an attempted kidnapping and her brother calls in a favor and hires the security firm Owen works at to guard his sister. Stasia is a doctor who has had to rearrange her life before because of her father’s wealth and is not completely on board with the additional security. But when Owen and Stasia meet they both feel drawn to the other. The action is fast and the twists keep coming. Owen and his team have much to learn and Stasia has to reassess her future. A little different take on werewolves but much is similar. This is a well written story. I recommend this read.

Stasia was a physician who was a member of a family whose father was very wealthy, and not all legitimate. She was accosted on the street in NYC and only not abducted because of strangers assisting her...so her brother and father insisted on a bodyguard. Owen lives in Queens, is a former soldier, was turned into a werewolf when captured by unknown assailants in Germany, where he and several fellow soldiers were turned during some sort of rite...deciding to stay together and form a security company...so when he met Stasia, she refused his services but she was strangely drawn to the cheerful, handsome man....but she had a life to live despite her family and wouldn't allow an attempted kidnapping to stop her from living how she wanted...following orders to stay despite her refusal, Owen tracks her when she leaves her apartment by the back way...but you will need to read this story to see if Owen can win the abrasive doctor over...I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

A shifter book where they are not born but made. The story had potential. Though it got annoying at first dealing with the pretentious female not taking the threat to her life seriously. So, the hero is a werewolf shifter who is new to his "gift" since he and his team were changed only a few years ago. He keeps their secret close to the vest but their bodyguard company has been hired to protect the heroine who has had several kidnapping attempts against her so far. She does her best to try to lose her security detail in the beginning of the book. While also denying the attraction and safety she feels with the hero. Then nothing happens in the middle of the book except them deciding to give in to their attraction and all of a sudden the hero's team is in need of her services as a doctor. Secrets now out and something bad happens then towards the end the kidnappers make another attempt. So, what have they been doing all this time??? 🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️ And the end. WTF JUST HAPPENED? Too many missing details. I can't. What I did read was ok but I felt left in the dark.

Another "new to me" author. This is an unusual story in the fact that while being a werewolf story, it is not following general "cannon" for these stories. Without going into spoilers, a group of active duty military men have something done to them while stationed in Germany and that changes them forever. They do not know who did it, or why it happened and are trying to just figure out how to live their new lives.

What I thought was interesting about this story was that when a couple of new characters are introduced some of the comments they make and questions they ask have to do with certain supernatural books they've read. So yes, there are characters in a werewolf book that have read about werewolves. While I have seen that before, generally I do not see this often. Usually, you see people having absolutely no idea what happened to them. I just thought it was interesting.

This book had a story arc that did seem a bit superficial. The characters also seemed very one dimensional. I think there was a whole lot of potential, but it didn't quite get there. While I did like the story that I read, I do not think I'll be going forward with the series.

This is a werewolf that will ensure his mate is protected
This is a simply wonderful read about Owen and his mate Stasis and it is his mission in life to ensure that he keeps her safe and secure as he is sure that she is his Mate nut she is also a stubborn lady that knows her own mind.
Stasia is sick and tired of being told what she can and cannot do even when said person Owen is only doing this because he believes that her life may be under threat and as her bodyguard, he has to keep her safe.
When Stasia is pulled out of her comfort zone into the world of the supernatural which includes werewolves, silver bullets and many other supernatural and out of this world weird and wonderful people and beings.
This is a wonderful read and I cannot wait for following books in this series.
I voluntarily received and review an Advanced Reader Copy
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.
