My 20 year old cat had started to get mats in her fur. I tried to remove them with a regular cat brush but of course it didn't work.
I did some research and found I needed a special type of tool.
At first I thought it wasn't working like a few reviews I read. It was just getting stuck at each mat and started to pull. I reread the directions and started to use small strokes and when it would come to a mat I would barely brush over the mat a few times until it pulled out. Then I turned the tool over to the side that has the 9 teeth to brush through. I was worried it would hurt her but she started purring.
If you ever watched a cat groom themselves you would know they lick and bite one troubled spot over and over until they pull out the fur.
I definitely recommend this product but read the directions and don't give up. It takes awhile and may require more sessions to remove all the mats. I will definitely be using this at least once a week along with regular brushing.
Older cats stop grooming themselves and mats cause pain and can cause infection, which I didn't know.
