Hario was established in 1921 in Tokyo, Japan as a manufacturer of laboratory glassware. By the late 1940s, after many years of research, the company introduced its heatproof "HARIO glass", which allowed the company to introduce its first coffee product - the Hario coffee syphon. After years of expansion in a number of different categories, in 2005, Hario released its iconic V60 Dripper, which has since become the most widely used dripper for manual pour over coffee. Hario's current catalog now spans kitchenware, laboratory glassware, automotive headlights, aromatherapy, pets products and jewelry, with a particular focus on specialty coffee and tea accessories. In addition to its dedication to product quality, Hario has an unwavering commitment to social responsibility, operating its pollution-free glass factory which utilizes 100% natural ingredients.

I recommend to go with the bigger size. You can always brew less coffee in the bigger one due to the shape, the height is just extended out as it gets bigger but they are identical up to their respective heights.
Cleaning is easy, it actually comes apart easy for deep cleaning, but so far I have just washed it, scrubbed it with a sponge, and left it to dry upside down, since its open on both ends it drys out well.
I have accidentally bumped it a few times on other things and so far it has not chipped or broken. It feels very sturdy and is well balanced so it does not tip over, I still dry it with the wide part facing down, for better balance.
At first I got the Size 02, but I realized that it was a bit too small if you really wanted to use it for immersion, at least for the amount of coffee normally drink. Two cups a day.
I used James Hoffman's method for ice coffee (youtube it) and it was the best Ice coffee I have ever had. The Size 3 is the perfect size for it. My GF, who normally does not typically finish her coffee, actually finished it. This thing is great. Perfect for about 38 grams of ground coffee and 330 grams of hot water into 170 grams of ice. for just about 420 ML of coffee out, or about 14 oz.
I normally make cold brew, but love trying lighter roasts for hot/ice coffee. I use this often, even when I have cold brew in the fridge.
Pro Tips:
You MUST preheat this as it is glass, but it holds the temp really well. If you rinse your paper filters this should not be an issue, and the fact that it holds in the water until you release it makes preheating much easier than on the regular V60.
Use filtered water and make sure your ice does not smell, otherwise when the hot coffee hits it, you will def smell it. I had an issue at first with a weird smell, thought it was the coffee, turned out to be the ice tray I was using was adding a mildewy smell to my ice. Def was NOT an issue with the V60.
if any note is to be made its make the flange that rests on the cup lidd a little wider for larger cups but it works for all the ones ive tried so far only being somewhat questionable on the largest.
The 02 can just do 250g water. Like so close you need a level surface to brew on, but it'll do it.
Highly recommended!

For immersion (and anything in between), this is a great implementation. Immersion tastes good, is easy to work with, and cleaning has not been an issue so far. It sounds like previous versions might've had an issue with the stopper ball falling out, but this has not been the case for my unit ordered in 2023.
I have settled on the "coffee first, then water" technique, and I grind a little finer than for the V60. I also use a gram of extra beans compared to the V60. It uses the very same #2 V60 filters so no change there.
With medium or medium-dark roast I set my kettle for 92 degrees C, then rinse the filter with 100g of kettle water with the switch closed so the water sits and heats the glass. Then I drain the cone out and put it on top of my coffee cup, and put the cup on the scale. With the switch closed again, I add 18 grams of ground coffee into the cone, then pour 240 grams of water from the kettle over that. I let that sit for about two minutes, do a light stir, then open the switch and let it drain into the coffee cup. 8 ounces of awesome coffee!

What I especially like:
It requires much less fussing about than with the original V60. I don't have to keep watching the time to perform pours at specific intervals. This fits in much better with kitchen workflow especially at breakfast where I'm also assisting my partner (scrambling eggs, rinsing utensils, etc.).
The process is forgiving. I can get distracted and miss the two minutes point, or let it sit for a few minutes after the drain out, and the coffee flavour hardly suffers at all.
Consistency. Much less chance for random variability. If you use the same ingredient amounts and the same timing, you get identical delicious cups of coffee each time. It's not affected much by pour rates or techniques so you can use any old kettle and you'll be good.
The resulting brew. Best. Coffee. Ever.

What I don't like:
It has no handle so I have to be careful carrying it to and from the sink to avoid burning my finger tips.
The little steel ball that is the heart of the Switch's valve can sometimes stick open and needs to be dislodged by poking it with a finger or tapping the cone on the counter. I'm used to checking for that now so I don't get caught out during a pour over operation.
It requires a little more care when washing it than the V60 does. It's possible for the steel ball to pop right out of it if handled too roughly. It's trivial to pop back in, but it could possibly get lost or go down the drain in the worst case. Also the plastic lever -- the valve switch -- can become dislodged from its normal position and require some fiddling about to get it back into position. Be patient! It's easy once you figure it out the first time.
---
But despite these little foibles I just love this coffee making tool because it makes such wonderful, rich coffee with excellent mouth feel and a clean cup.
I picked this over the clever coffee dripper because the clever coffee dripper is made of plastic.
The other reason I like this product is because it combines both infusion and drip method of making coffee. Best of both worlds. Perfect for making 1 cup of coffee (or two small cups)
As it’s so small, it can be stored in the cupboard and doesn’t take up counter top space - I can finally get rid of my electric coffee maker!
The packaging is cardboard - again no plastic inside!
It uses size 2 paper filters. It’s a bit annoying and wasteful to keep buying paper filters but the alternative is to buy a metal mesh filter but then you waste water and time to clean it and then sometimes need to buy drain cleaner to empty the drain. At least paper filters can be composted, so overall it has less impact in my opinion.
