Excellent build quality. Robust and Elegant design. This roaster does not disappoint!
Roasted 3 times with it so far and I am impressed. I have roasted with a hot air popper, fresh roast purpose built air roaster, and a Behmor 1600 drum roaster. This roaster so far has produced the best cup quality. The Behmor tended to have a "baked" flavor to it. The Kaldi produces a better roast, probably because you can easily and quickly control the heat with a gas burner. My first seasoning batch came out exactly at Full City roast. The following 2 batches also came out exactly how I wanted them to. The fact that you can pour out the beans and immediately start the cooling process also gives you better control over your roast. It came with gloves, but they were on the small size (I have large hands). I used these and they are overkill but work great. Extreme Heat Resistant Grill Gloves: Premium Insulated & Silicone Lined Aramid Fiber Mitts for Cooking, BBQ, Grilling, Frying & Baking - Professional Indoor Outdoor Kitchen & Oven AccessoriesThis is a manual machine. My best advice is to record what heat settings you are using and when you are making adjustments during your roasts so you can reproduce the roasting profile consistently. I followed the instructions that came with it and hit all 3 roasts exactly how I wanted them. You will have smoke! Our range hood wasn't able to keep up with the smoke volume, but it couldn't keep up with the Behmor drum roaster either. The beauty of this unit is that you can effectively roast outdoors with a propane stove. The Behmor electric was very sensitive to even a light wind or cold conditions and ruined about 5 roasts before I gave up and just dealt with the smoke indoors. I can imagine this can be sensitive to wind too, but with propane you can increase the heat if necessary. On my stove, I used a 9500 BTU burner and it was only on 50% for preheating, then turned down to 20% before putting the beans in. Gradually increasing the temperature to 40% in 5% increments once per minute to get to 215C. I have purchased this 15,000 BTU portable for outdoor use. I am sure it will be able to do the job, but I will edit my review once I use it. GAS ONE GS-3900P Dual Fuel Propane or Butane Portable stove with Brass Burner Head, Dual Spiral Flame 15,000 BTU Gas Stove with Convenient Carrying Case Most Powerful Heat Output StoveShipping took a little while, but it was coming from South Korea and it arrived in perfect shape. The fit and finish is superb, and steel is heavy gauge. The motor is way more power than is necessary, but I appreciate overbuilt products. This unit appears that it will last a very long time. After 3 roasts there is no discoloration of the mirror polished stainless steel on the outside. Of course the internal drum and screen now show annealing, but you can't see it from the outside. There is plenty of airspace around the drum so any chaff that is in there easily falls out. There are instructions and extra hex screws included so the rear panel can be taken off for a deep cleaning. I can't imagine that will be necessary that often. However, I appreciate the forward thinking.I don't write many reviews but this roaster really impressed me.

2.0 out of 5 stars Broke within a month. Followed all directions.
Reviewed in the United States on October 22, 2020
Update: the seller was very easy to work with. Asked us to return item, paid by them and resent a new roaster once they received the package and were able to determine it was not repairable.

This product showed up brand new and worked great for a month as expected for a $700 product. After one month I went to clean it by opening up the back of the device as instructed on the manual. In the process of removing the 8 screws, 3 of the snapped in half before the were removed and are now stuck in the socket unable to be removed without damaging the socket. This device is now useless. We reached out to the seller and we are hoping they will make it right.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great little roaster
Reviewed in the United States on August 16, 2020
This is the best so far of the roasters that I've used. I love that I have total control of temperature. I also prefer its simplicity. no expensive computer programs and chips mean that there are no complex electronics to break down. And as I mentioned I like to be in control of the roast. I've been using this roaster for over a month now, and average 2 lb of coffee a week. I've been able consistently achieve the roast level that I'm seeking without problem. Also being able to roast 300 gm at a time is nice.
Update:
After a year I am still in love with this roaster. I roast 3 to 4 batches every week keeping my family stocked with fresh roasted coffee. I have worn other roasters out from heavy use, but the KALDI just keeps going and going. This roaster is well worth the investment and will pay for itself quickly when you consider that green beans can be purchased for around $6 to $8 per pound while quality roasted beans are going for $14 per 12OZ. Get it, you will only be sorry that you didn't get it sooner.
