Publisher's summary

It wasn't his job to protect her, but there's no way he's leaving her side. Dallas McNeil had spent half his life serving his country. War and death had left him cold and hollow. Embracing the darkness of his former life, he wouldn't have much to offer anyone.

Candi was a beacon of light that made his cold heartbeat again. He's always had a sweet tooth, and she was just the treat to satisfy it. She's too good for the likes of him, but he can't stay away - he needed her.

When danger comes for her, he's more than qualified to keep her safe. This is one mission he refuses to fail. If he does, how would he survive?

Dallas is THE man!

Dallas is a man of few words and hard punches. His background is of a Marine, now a cop and moonlighted at a club in Vegas. He has demons here lives with daily hit e bright spot in his life, his Candi.

Candi comes from a broken past, hiding her scars under a layer of smiles. She works her butt off to make sure she has what’s she needs. Her newest need, Dallas McNeil.

These two together are like the best hot chocolate and marshmallow combo. They’re intense, sweet and hot. They don’t really know what’s going to happen, how their getting closer is going to change their lives but it turns out to be the best choice either of them could ever make.

But when danger strikes, Dallas must be willing to do anything he can to save the woman he loves. Talk about a wild ride.

I loved this story. These two characters a hot mess at times but when it matters they pull themselves together and make it work. The ying and yang to a perfect future.

Dallas and Candi

This story is about two people who both think they aren't good enough for the other. Dallas McNeil and Candi Jennings, he's an ex-marine with PTSD now working as a cop and doing security jobs on the side whilst she's a waitress with lots of baggage from her past.

She's working at an off-strip club in Las Vegas and they met whilst he was working security. He thinks she deserves a better man than him whilst Candy thinks he deserves someone without her complicated baggage. But everyone who works with them knew they had the hots for each other and wonder when they will give in to their desire.

Then Candi's complicated baggage arrives on the scene but Dallas was there to protect her. I enjoyed this story, I felt connected to the characters and wanted them to have a HEA.

The narration by Lacy Laurel is well done and added to my enjoyment of the book.

I was given this ebook as a gift and am voluntarily writing my review.

Loved the Book, but...

It was great revisiting this story. I loved the book when I read it and I love the author's work. Because of that, I'm only knocking off one star for the use of Lacy Laurel as the narrator. She did do a little better toward the end of the story, but all in all she's just not my favorite. Her affect as the main male character is just not right and I find that to be so in every book I've listened to that she's narrated. Her male and female side characters are always on point and her female main characters that I've heard have usually been pretty good, but this time, to me, she missed the mark on both leads. Candy seemed to lack any emotions even when she was being emotional.

Trust & Honor Series

Dallas (Trust & Honor, Book 1) is novella so it's short and sweet. Seeping through the narrative is oddles of suspense. With a nectarous epilogue that gave Candi and Dallas their hea.

Narrator Lacy Laurel has a sweet yet sultry intonation and vividly expressive. A entertaining listen
