Genre: Second Chance Romance
Actual Rating: 4 stars

Sweet, southern romance, and second chances? These are all the things you get with Remind Me by Samantha Chase! What a wonderful start to a brand new series. I read this book in one day because I was devoted to the story and the characters within it. There were parts that made me laugh, others that made me cry, and even more that made me swoon! This book is just the perfect combination of everything I love in a romance book. I think all fans of the author need to give this one a try and I personally can't wait for the next one!

If you have read Sunkissed Days (the first novella of the series) you will see that this book is a continuation of it. That doesn't mean you can't read this as a standalone because you can! But Sunkissed Days shows the beginning of Mallory and Jake's relationship when they were younger. If you haven't read it then I think it would be the perfect companion novella to see where they started. I will personally be grabbing a copy because I love these two and because I want to see how their love came about.

Anyway, I love this authors novels and found this book to be the perfect escapse for a cold winter afternoon. It's not a long book- you can easily read it from start to finish in a few hours- but it packs a punch regardless. I think many readers are going to swoon for this second chance love story just like I did!

DNF Chapter 5.

Clean, fade to black sex scene.

Boring characters, I can not stop falling asleep. Clearly it is my strange personal dislike

Remind Me
Magnolia Sound # 1
Samantha Chase
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This has started as a beautiful and sweet series. If you haven’t already read Sunkissed Days, it’s the prequel to this book, and while it’s not pertinent you read it, it does give a look into Mallory and Jake’s “relationship “ beginning. Trust me, you’ll be thankful you did.

Remind Me starts 6 years after Sunkissed Days ended. Mallory has always been super close to her great grandfather Zeke, so when he dies, she returns to Magnolia Sound, the devastation of pops death, all his secrets and of course Jake, the boy who she always loved then the man who destroyed her. Returning means coming face to face with Jake and all the feelings she’d pushed aside, it seems in just a few moments, everything they’d fought over means nothing.

Leaning on each other thrown there the funeral and will reading, brings Mallory and Jake closer then ever. It seems old man Zeke, had everyone’s lives figured out himself. As the man who founded Magnolia Sound, he had his hand firmly in a number of business’, and his grand children and great grandchildren will reap the rewards…. Like he always knew, each grandchild will have a new path to travel…. For Jake who was always close to Zeke, takes the ultimate opportunity as new owner of Coleman Construction. His new found company and having his Mallory back, means he has the opportunity to win her forever. If he can get her to agree that they are perfect together, or will her want for her career, pull them further apart.

One man who changed so many lives, intertwines unto a great story of love rekindled, devastation, family true colours and doing what Zeke did best, bringing his family together.

When I read the prequel to the Magnolia Sound series, Sunkissed Days, I really didn’t enjoy it all the much because despite being 20 and 24, the story of Mallory and Jake read as two highschoolers to me. Because this novel takes place six years later, I was hoping that I would like this one more.

I appreciate that both Mallory and Jake had grown up a lot in those six years and acknowledged their past relationship and how they could have handled things better considering the fact that they both acted so immature that summer, but even with that whole issue of mine resolved, this novel still fell flat for me.

I don’t know what it is, but no matter what was happening or how sad it was, I just never got invested in the characters or their stories. I was never rooting for the romance or a happy ending or anything of the sort. There’s really nothing that I can pinpoint that makes me feel this way because it’s not like it’s a bad story or the writing is bad. I just didn’t have that connection to it. And I feel bad especially because there is no specific reason, but I didn’t enjoy it.

I was not expecting to like so much a second chance romance. I believe that happened because Jake and Mallory weren't focused on what went wrong in the past and there wasn't any drama. The flow of the story was good and it had a good pace. These two were meant to be and now they are just trying to find a way to do that after Mallory's great-grandfather died. They didn't have a hard time finding their way back to each other and that made me read the book with joy and in an effortless way. One of the things that made the book work for me was the simple mention that both of them had been with other people, without giving us many details that were not needed nor wanted. Jake was not a manwhore and I appreciated that.

The manwhore in the book is Sam, Mallory's brother. His story is next and it seemed interesting, from the little preview we got at the end of this book. I know that he is forced to live in Magnolia Sound and I want to see how his lady will convince him to stay. When I first saw that "Sunkissed Days" and "Remind me" would be Samantha Chase's upcoming releases, I thought that they would be a part of a two-book deal like many authors do these days. When I found out that they were the prequel and first book of the series, I was wondering about the setup and the characters, but now that I have finished Remind me I can see the setup and who the next characters to get a story will be. I hope that Colton and Mallory's mom will get a happy ending. Maybe that's the reason Mallory's mom was having trouble with the renovation. I do hope that they will either get a happy end in Sam's book or have a story of their own.

To be honest, I was not in mood, to read a second chance romance and kept putting it off. Now that I have finished it, I can say that I was worried for no reason. The book was surprisingly good. I don't doubt Samatha Chase as an author and she is one of my favorites, but I wasn't expecting to like this book so much. I also got my answer about why Mallory and Jake didn't get back together sooner. I did not like it much, but I understood why it happened. I am recommending this book to everyone!

After meeting Mallory Westbrook and Jake Summerford in Sunkissed Days in Samantha Chase’s newsletter and later released as a novella, I could not wait to get the rest of their story. Sunkissed Days was sweet and charming, but we finally get to catch up with them in Remind Me and see where their journey will take them.

This story picks up years later. You do not need to read Sunkissed Days to read Remind Me, however, you do get more background on the characters and how their story started. Mallory Westbrook was left heartbroken after the perfect summer with Jake in Magnolia Sound. Now she needs to go back to put her great-grandfather’s affairs in order. Her plan is to get it done and never return.

But plans do not always go as you want them too. Mallory is not the same sweet and innocent girl she was that summer she spend with Jake. But old feelings are hard to ignore. One of Jake’s biggest regret was how things ended with Mallory. Can this be his second chance to show her how good they can be together? I am loving this series and its characters. I am excited to read more!

A lesson in learning sparks a love that's enduring. Sunkissed Days was the start of something special. Remind Me is the continuation of a love story that never had the chance to begin. Mallory and Jake were a childhood crush interrupted. Life got in the way, choices broke their hearts. When life brings then full circle, can young love rebuild adult hearts? Chase mesmerizes the heart and mind with a heartwarming combination of life, love and friendship. Remind Me is a stunning new beginning for an old heartache.

More like 3.5 stars. Not my favorite but still liked it a lot! This made me want to move to a cute little town down south by a lake or something. This was a very quick and cute read but I definitely read great romance books this year and this didn't compare to any of them. I still plan on continuing with the series but it's not a priority.

Jake and Mallory’s emotional love story continued in Remind Me, book one in Samantha Chase’s Magnolia Sound series. We met Mallory and Jake and their ill-fated romance in the prequel Sunkissed Days. Remind Me is a standalone story and all relevant information is provided.

Mallory is living in New York consumed with work and a recent promotion when she learns her great-grandfather Zeke passes away. Given two weeks to get his affairs in order before returning to New York, the perfect plan until Mallory ends up reconnecting with Zeke’s next-door neighbor, Jake, her first love who broke her heart and set the bar for any other guy entering her life. Jake regretted the way things ended with Mallory but with her return, albeit short, maybe they can put the past hurts behind and start over again, even as friends. However, as the two spend time together both realize they want more than just being friends; a rekindling of the love they once had, now that they are both older and mature. Hopefully, this new love will refocus Mallory on what she truly wants in life and a future for them. Maybe New York isn’t really home for her. Maybe it’s actually Magnolia Sound and Jake.

Ms. Chase wrote a wonderful and emotional story that is not to be missed. She provided a tale rich with sexual chemistry, amusing banter, and endearing characters giving Mallory and Jake the love and future together, that they always wanted. I highly recommend Remind Me to other readers and can't wait to read more about this family from Magnolia Sound and see what else is in store for us readers.

Obviously, from the moment I read the last page of Sunkissed, I was on pins and needles waiting for Remind Me to land on my kindle. NOT because Sunkissed was in any way a cliffhanger ending, but because it was a pause in Mallory and Jake's story. A pause that lasted six years, but a pause nonetheless!

So six years later, Jake and Mallory are once again reunited. Mallory's great-grandfather has passed and she return to Magnolia Sound to handle the affairs. In and out she told herself. She wasn't falling pray to the guy that broke her heart all those years ago, again. Nope. Not gonna happen ............. well, read the book :) lol

This is probably one of the most emotional reads I've read by this author. Don't get me wrong, her stories are sweet and heartwarming all around but this was different. There was power behind the feelings. Power that will tear you up unless you're dead inside :) (That's just a thing I say when I read a book that drains me emotionally). This story did just that. It was beautifully written and unfolded incredibly well. The struggles that both Jake and Mallory underwent felt true to life. Which of course added yet another layer on emotion to everything. *sigh* These two were kismet even if they didn't know it. They were kismet from six years ago and if you read Sunkissed, you would have no doubt of that. They were the best part of each other for each other. emotional people, just beautifully emotional

If you're new to world of Samantha Chase, this is an excellent place to begin!

Stop! Make sure you read Sunkissed Days first, you will not be disappointed as it is really the prequel to this one and you will not be disappointed. Jake and Mallory had a hot and heavy fling six years ago and it did not end well. Now Mallory is working in New York and just been promoted when a hurricane is barreling towards Magnolia Sound and her mother calls to tell her Pops will not evacuate. Mallory is panicking and ends up calling Jake and pleading with him to get Zeke to go or stay with him and he ends up staying with him. Good thing since it is Zeke's last days and he knows and this is why he wouldn't go. Coming back to Magnolia Sound for the funeral is devastating for Mallory but coming face to face with Jake was somehow healing. They come together and find a peace together but will they be able to make it work this time? Zeke (Pops) was a sly one and had surprises in his will for everyone and some make sense and some will probably make sense in the books to come in the series. We did better acquainted with the rest of the family and there looks to be some crazy times coming in the future! What is good to know is there is a happy ending here and it was so much fun to watch it happen. I cannot wait to go back to Magnolia Sound for more visits in the future!

It’s been six years since the summer Jake and Mallory fell in love. Six years since they went their separate ways after misunderstandings and hurt feelings. But Mallory is back in Magnolia Sound and, although the ice between them has thawed and all those old feelings are bubbling to the surface, they're still stuck in the same impossibility because Mallory doesn’t plan to stay and Jake's life and responsibilities keep him tethered to the small beachside community.

There's nothing I love more than a second chance, so I was excited to read Jake and Mallory's story and fall more in love with Magnolia Sound. This story begins with a hurricane, which brings Mallory back to her great-grandfather's home, where she sees Jake again. There are a lot of changes for Mallory's family and a lot of damage from the hurricane, and fortunately these things serve to draw Jake and Mallory closer together. I thoroughly enjoyed their sweet, emotional, heartfelt story, and I can’t wait to read more in this series!

This book is an amazing start to a series and I have to tell you that it was a phenomenal read that had me on the edge of my seat the entire time hoping and praying that Mallory would let Jake back in. In love we sometimes make mistakes everyone deserves a second chance except for abusers I say its a no go with abusers but when you make a simple mistake out of fear then you deserve a second chance.

This this is Jake and Mallory's second chance even though all Mallory wants to do is come back to town and bury her great-grandfather and take care of his things and get back home as soon as possible so she doesn't have to see Jake and have her heart open to those old wounds but life is funny because Jake is waiting for her and he is willing to do whatever it takes to get Mallory back.

This is an amazing story that pulls the strings of your heart and you will fall in love with Jake and Mallory if you haven't already from the previous book they were in. So go ahead and one click this one and sit back and enjoy the romance ride!

5 Star Review of Remind Me (Magnolia Sound #1) by Samantha Chase

Having read Sunkissed Days, I could not wait to dive in and see what was happening in Magnolia Sound and how Samantha Chase would conclude the story of Mallory Westbrook and Jake Summerford.

Remind Me was the perfect way to conclude their story, although be warned I shed quite a few tears as this story was at times rather emotional. When tragedy strikes and Mallory returns to Magnolia Sound, she knows that she will come face to face with the love of her life, the man who broke her heart.

There were times that my heart just about broke for Mallory and Jake as they tried to work through their grief. It is obvious to all around them that Jake and Mallory have unresolved feelings. The question is will they take the leap and act on them, or will fear ruin their chance at happiness?

There was drama, spice, romance, love and the secondary characters were just as interesting as Jake and Mallory. I cannot wait to read the next book in the Magnolia Sound series.

That Epilogue!
Mallory and Jake were first introduced in Sunkissed Days but now it’s six years later and Mother Nature and Father Time have impacted Magnolia Sound. From page one of Remind Me I was emotionally invested...and more than a little teary eyed. Laying the foundation of their relationship in the prequel novella allowed Samantha Chase to dive right into the emotions and chemistry of Mal and Jake without making it insta love or an unbelievable stretch. And that epilogue is so beyond swoony!
Each new series feels like Samantha Chase is owning her voice and style and I am so here for it and the rest of the Magnolia Sound series...bring on Sam!

Samantha Chase did it again with this wonderful book. I first met Mallory and Jake in Sun kissed Days, it was a sweet little novella to kick off her new series Magnolia Sound. Remind me gives us a glimpse into how they're lives had been since Mallory and Jake both left Magnolia Sound. It's been 6 years since Mallory had gone back, she really didn't want to but at the news of her grandfather passing she had no choice. It's been 6 years since she had set eyes on Jake, and one look at him and her feeling for him went crazy.
I love second chance romance and this is one is my favorite. I can't wait to read more about Mallory and Jake. This series is gonna be amazing.

I loved the follow up to the novella with Mallory and Jake! The sad part for me was the death of her great grandfather. I loved that character. He was so full of life and wisdom.
But of course I soon got caught up in the love story and characters for this new series. The descriptive writing had my wish I was in magnolia sound. Sounds like the perfect place to spend summers!
The writing as always with this author is superb, fast paced and unputdownable.

I look forward to the rest of this series that is for sure!

Mallory is finally coming back to Magnolia Sound not for reasons she wants to be there. She has to attend her grandfathers funeral.
Jake knows she is coming and hopes this time she will forgive him.
When the time comes for them to see each other Jake and mallory have much to work through, and with her grandfathers death they are both feeling the loss. Together they will work through many aspects f their lives to figure out where their lives are going.

If you love small town romance, you need this book, this series. I listened to this one, narrated by Carly Robbins.

Mallory and Jake are just meant to be, so no amount of time can keep them apart.

In addition to this couple, we get more of this family and residents of Magnolia Sound.

When we last saw Jake & Mallory at the end of Sunkissed Days, their summer of love, things were not looking so good for the fate of their relationship. But leave it to Samantha Chase to come back with a beautiful story of how things go after that. There are ups and downs and highs and lows but mainly there is love, and a boathouse full of it. The years may have passed but their love never did. I enjoyed Jake and Mallory's story so very much!! This wonderful story unleashed a hurricane of emotions but each and every one was worth it to get to their HEA.

I was glad to start this book right after Remind Me, because I was ready for more Mallory and Jake. Reading the novella is not necessary but helps for the background with the storyline.

Mallory has returned to Magnolia Sound to settle her grandfather’s affairs. A quick trip in and out. But there are some surprises, and Jake wants to keep Mallory in town longer. There are many emotions in this book, but a great series start.

I am looking forward to reading more books in this series.

This was a sweet, small town romance without a lot of angst.

I was frustrated by how childish Malory and Jake acted at times. And their communications skills clearly haven't improved in six years. But when they stopped acting like idiots things were good.

I did feel that I was missing out on some key information by not having read the prequel, but I was impressed by how much improved Chase's handling of POV has become. (They truly switched only at chapter breaks with this book, and not once was I thrown by a POV switch during a scene or conversation. Thank goodness!

Having read quite a few angst filled books recently, this was a nice, light, refreshing change. It still had emotions, but nothing that had me feeling depressed.

Looking forward to Sam's book!

I don't really like writing negative reviews and also I usually refrain from doing so because I don't want to offend the author. But in this case I felt it was necessary. I have listed the reasons below-
1. The book lacked emotion. I couldn't emotionally connect with the book.
2. Each and every chapter was all over the place.
3. The relationship seemed one sided even at the end after seeing the story from both point of views.
4. The book was written in third person and honestly there is nothing wrong with it but it's just that writing in third person is not that easy; because maintaining the scene or the plot is not that easy.

Again I don't mean to offend the author or any other readers, this is just a single point of view.
Thank you!

Only finished about 1/3rd of the book. I have decided to quit. I couldn't find myself to care about the characters at all. Mallory was a complete bore and Jake wasn't much better. But I think I just don't mesh well with this genre, so don't take my biased word for it.
