After a few uses, the clip holding the knife and scissors together broke. The packaging came with strange mounting options and no instructions.
Pros
Scissors work well for cutting sharp fins off while cleaning fish. The descaling capabilities are good enough too. I have a little rust on the blade, but I never clean it and it's been on a lot of long dives so I'm impressed.
Overall, it's fine but there are better and cheaper dive knives that actually come with mounting gear.
PROS:
- I love the general “two tools in one” idea
- I love the spring on the scissors
- Really wanted to love these
CONS:
- As others have said:
- 1. SHOWSTOPPER: The tool is incredibly difficult to take out of its holster. You need to press down hard on the 2 tabs with your thumbs and then somehow slide it out. Bad design. Unless you have 3 hands, then it could work
- Second and most critical of all - it's not symmetrical. .l. THERE'S ONLY 1 side possible to insert the knife into the sheath. if you try the other side, the blade will get in - BUT WILL BE VERY DIFFICULT TO GET OUT - almost impossible really - and if you succeed, the releasing damages the sheath's release plastic and debris will start releasing from the plastic - because of the very sharp edge rubbing the soft plastic. this is a serious, and stupid, design flaw
- 2. Mounting is hard to backplate straps
- 3. The plastic labels are glued on and were coming off even before I unpacked the item.
