What is the true nature of the relationship between the guitarist and bassist of the world-famous rock band, Caffeine Daydreams?

Kai

I should be happy.

My childhood best friend and I are living our wildest dream—making music and touring the world as famous rock stars. I’ve got everything I could wish for.

Except him.

I’ll never have Silas. Not the way I want.

Our onstage behaviour gives fans a lot to speculate over, but it’s only an act.

The truth is, I die inside every time we touch. It might be pretend for Silas, but for me, it’s a constant reminder that I can’t have him the way I truly desire.

Then, a moment onstage leads me to a breaking point, and I can’t bear the heartache any longer.

I need to find a way to only see Silas as a friend before I lose our friendship, and him, forever.

Silas

My life is split into two chapters.

Before Kai and After Kai.

My childhood was a nightmare. A darkness I carried alone. But everything became brighter when I met Kai. He took me into his life, his family, his home.

Kai is more than my best friend. He’s my everything.

Some people think our relationship is odd…that it’s unusual for two friends to be as close as we are.

But everything about us makes sense.

At least, that’s what I believed.

When an onstage moment shines a light on the cracks in our foundation, my eyes are opened to a truth that’s been right in front of me the entire time.

A truth I want to explore.

But it’s too late. Just when I’m ready for more, Kai’s moving on.

One thing’s for sure; I’m not giving up.

No matter the risks.

Green Light is a bi-awakening, best friends-to-lovers MM rockstar romance. The second in the Caffeine Daydreams series, each book will follow a different couple as they find their HEA. Although better read in order, these books can stand alone.

Green Light is the next entry in the Caffeine Daydreams series focusing on the relationship between Kai and Silas who have been friends for decades, but feelings start to bubble to the surface making their friendship awkward and in a questionable state.

Their journey from discovering each other's feelings is full of angst and heavy emotions, which you are rewarded with after a moving declaration. Silas and Kai are such a great duo that I was rooting for their relationship to progress, mend, and move into a completely new territory worthy of their love for one another.

Overall quite a different experience reading this entry versus White Noise. I appreciate how different each couple is, which goes to show how effective the author is at making you care for these couples, who have such varying origins and dynamics. I'm loving this series and cannot wait for Arlo's story!!!

This was exactly what I thought it would be and I am glad I was right :)

I know this one has mixed reviews but I guess I was among the minority that enjoyed it.

Don't have much else to say, overall a cute read!

oh, boy.

if you put all together in a blender miscommunications, 20 years of hiding the truth, ghosting, time jumps, hardly any plot, hardly any spice, a questionable fake relationship and miscommunication again because it was too much, what do you get?
a terrible smoothie.

i could, theoretically, expand my thoughts on those issues, but my blood pressure is already too high and i don’t like to waste time.
i feel like this book was one big joke. maybe a halloween one? i can see people being frightened by this.

but i do have to admit there was one really good joke, i haven’t laughed this hard in weeks. the bodyguard crying nearly killed me. dude, change career.

I received an ARC, and this is my honest review.

This book was a rough ride for me. It wasn’t this author’s saddest book, in my opinion. Nothing can beat her book “Patience”. But, it WAS sad. It’s the classic story of gay best friend falls in love with straight best friend who is totally oblivious and unknowingly breaks their bestie’s heart over and over again. The thing that made this book hard for me was because these knuckleheads wouldn’t talk to each other!!! I know it’s not fair for me to say that because I got both povs and I knew what was going on when they didn’t but still!!! I literally face palmed myself at one part. But, I’m getting ahead of myself. Let me tell you about it, and we’ll come back to this.

Here’s the juice.

Kai and Silas are besties. Like bestie besties. The toxic codependent kind (my favorite!!) They’ve been besties since they were 13 years old. The kicker here is that Kai has also been in love with Silas since he was 15 years old. This book takes place when they’re 35 years old, so that’s 20 years of unrequited romantic love and pining. Poor Kai. I honestly felt so bad for him because Silas would unknowingly torture him. Bring girls home in front of him, take his clothes off in front of him, talk about sex in front of him, touch him, etc. He didn’t do all this on purpose. He would never hurt Kai like that. He just didn’t know. But, it hurt him nevertheless. Anyway, moving on. Kai and Silas are also in a rock band together called Caffeine Daydreams. This makes things harder for Kai because with them having the same career, they are always around each other. So, Kai is tortured on the daily. Kai has just about reached his breaking point. He can’t go on like this. It’s time for him to move on and get over these feelings. But, something happens that opens Silas’s eyes to what he and Kai could be. It’s too late, though, because Kai is done. But Silas refuses to give up on the possibility.

There wasn’t a lot of heat in this book, in my opinion. That’s because of all the p i n i n g. There was so much. We didn’t get down to the dirty business until the 63% mark of the book. But, rest assured, after that mark, the rest of the book was pound town. So much heat and spice, and thank god because I was parched. I still wanted more, though.

Let’s go back to what I said in the beginning about how the knuckleheads wouldn’t talk. That was the worst for me. But honestly, they had their reasons. Kai didn’t want to ruin their friendship. He was afraid that saying something would make Silas back off on the touching and stuff, and while it was the equivalent of hell to him, it was also heaven. He wanted Silas in any way he could have him. Silas wouldn’t say anything for specific reasons that I’m not going to tell you about :P. It’s spoilery, and I want you to have a good reaction when you read it because I was like *gasp*. So yeah they wouldn’t talk and I hated it, but I also can’t hate it, you know? Does that make sense? Anyway if you are the lover of extreme pining, this will have you frothing at the mouth.

I loved the characters in this. I loved going back to the band members of Caffeine Daydreams, and I LOVED Kai’s family. They were so dang sweet. And the way they took Silas in made me melt. Silas had a really rough childhood before he met Kai, and who knows what would’ve happened to him if him and Kai didn’t meet. They literally saved him. Poor Silas.

Speaking of the band members, I CANNOT WAIT for the next book. I want the little drummer boy’s story so bad. I will definitely be returning back to this series for him. We also got introduced to some new characters who could have a potential story. Yay!

If you loving pining, besties to lovers, bi-awakening, and rockstar romances, give this one a chance!!

Well THAT was an amazing read. I love a good angsty romance involving decades-long hidden/unrequited love + best friend drama. The rock star angle was just a fun bonus.

Plot: ★★★
Pacing: ★★★★
Characters: ★★★★★
Romance: ★★★★★

Note: Green Light is the second book in the Caffeine Dreams rockstar romance series, but it was the first book that I read. So take of that what you will—I will say, I loved this book as a standalone/first read and it didn't ruin my reading of the first book (which I devoured IMMEDIATELY after finishing this one), so to me, it was a great entrance into this world.

Kai and Silas are best friends. They met at thirteen years old in their rougher neighborhood and spent their entire teen/college/adult years together. They've supported each other, loved each other, and spent every day in each other's pockets.

In fact, they are so close that the entire world thinks that their personas on stage as the bassist and guitarist for the internationally famous rock band, Caffeine Daydreams, are real and that Kai and Silas have been dating—or at least sleeping together—for years.

There's just one problem: Silas is straight, and Kai has been in love with him for decades.

Cue that sweet, sweet angst...

Kai has held his love for Silas as close to his chest as possible. But with their new "stage act" of dancing on each other + a bit more during the band's hit song, "Tease", hits too close to home, Kai knows his heart is breaking. Especially when Silas leaves him each night to sleep with a new girl groupie after every show. He can't keep going like this, he can't lose Silas in his life. He can't move on.

So when Silas takes the show act too far and kisses Kai on stage, Kai breaks.

And their friendship will never be the same... Especially because Silas also breaks in a different way, and realizes that he just might not be as straight as he thought.

AGHHHH. People. When I tell you that one quote I saw on Instagram made me download this book yesterday, and then one "try a chapter" led me to read the ENTIRE book last night in basically one sitting...

Yeah. I enjoyed the hell out of this book. It had all of my favorite things—extreme angst with extremely rewarding and sweet HEA (happily ever after)—and it was wrapped up in well-written, perfectly paced novel.

I have zero complaints, besides my newfound sadness in the fact that I must wait until March for the next book in the series.

So September has been officially declared Lark Taylor month! White Noise was recommended to me and I decided to give it a try. I like rockstar romances and love trying new authors. I absolutely loved that book and made it my mission to read all of this authors books! I’ve read 5 of theirs in the last month and 2 more to go!

Green Light had a lot different feel to it than White Noise did. There was a lot of hurting in this book and pining and my heart broke for both of them for a lot of the story. Silas and Kai… I don’t even know what to say about them. They were so absolutely perfect together and are two of those characters you just want to lock in a room together until they work their stuff out!

This was a slow-burn in the sense that nothing physical happened for a lot of this book but I didn’t find I was missing it because there was so much else going on with them. But they absolutely make up for that later in the story and they are 🔥🔥🔥! This is an angsty story. Don’t expect light and fluffy but they absolutely get their HEA!

I absolutely recommend this author and every single one of her books! I cannot wait for Arlo and Jack’s book! And any other books this author writes! They are definitely on my author must-read ASAP list!!

This had all the emotion that was missing for me in book one.

I loved Silas and my heart hurt for him when Kai ghosted him. I actually found myself having not much sympathy for Kai because he made his situation worse by never talking in twenty years and always running away when Silas tried to talk to him! You can't have your cake and eat it mate!!

What actually stopped me giving this five stars was the whole Tristan thing. It felt forced and then there was no resolution for his character, just far too many hints at something going on. I'm not really a fan of using a story as an advertising tool to build mystery and interest for another book or series when it has nothing to do with the book or the series that I'm reading. It doesn't intrigue me to hunt down a potential book about Tristan, it makes me frustrated that his presence allowed so many miscommunications between two people who are supposed to be ridiculously close. If there had been more explanation for why Tristan was even there he would have made more sense in the story, or if he was just a friend helping out Kai and not needing something from the arrangement it wouldn't have bugged me so much!

I am looking forward to finally finding out what's going on with Jack and Arlo in the final book of this series though.

I really like this series of Larks, they always have such a good underlying message to them, this one being communication. Silas and Kai were awesome as friends and later a couple, and while it hurt at times, I really loved their story! The author developed a great backstory to these two and it was so good to read all the pining and oblivion! I am super excited for the next book!

"I've loved you for so long that I don't know how to do anything else. Loving you has been the one constant in my life. Not my family, nor our careers, or even our friendship. It's just been you. Loving you."

Jesus Christ Lark. My freaking heart took a beating with this one! Every time I thought this is it! They are finally going to talk and hash things out! I was proven wrong again, usually in a way that had my heart dropping into my stomach. Three words: The Birthday Party 😭😭 This was a book of pining. SO MUCH PINING. My heart broke over and over for Kai in the first half, while it spent the majority of the second breaking for Silas. Their story definitely had a completely different tone to book 1.

The song lyrics were a big highlight for me while reading. I loved how Kai used his feelings and expressed them through his song lyrics. How Silas never figured out what everyone else had for years was beyond me. I guess there is a reason they say ignorance is bliss. Silas honestly had no idea his best friend was so unhappy because if he did that would have led to his unhappiness as well. There was no world where one of them was happy if the other wasn't. That's just who they were to one another. Codependent? Oh yes. Toxic? Depends who you ask I suppose. Does it really matter if spending 24/7 with the love of your life makes them both truly happy?

"I'd seem every side of Silas except this one.
Fuck he was so beautiful like this. Sated and content.
Because of me."

Kai and Silas' story is definitely a slow burn when it comes to the actual steam and relationship so be prepared. It will rip your heart out over and over, but I promise it gets put back together again. Now I understand what all those author friends of Larks were saying in their posted messages cursing her name! No doubt about it the love story of Kai and Silas was an epic one and I can't wait to read about Arlo and Jack's story next. Once my heart has recovered from this one of course.

I’m pretty sure I read this whole thing without blinking. Angst is my catnip and the angst & pining is strong in this one. The constant communication issues drove me a little crazy though and the biawakening was kind of sudden. But Lark Taylor spins a good, emotional yarn as I saw in one of my favorite 2023 releases, Patience.

Silas and Kai were childhood friends. They met when Silas defended Kai against some bullies and have been best friends ever since. Neither comes from money but their home lives were very different.

Silas had an abusive father who didn't care about him, while Kai had a loving family with two parents who loved and supported him and three younger siblings.

While they were still in school Silas spent most of his time at Kai's house, both because it felt more like home and in an effort to avoid his father. A few years after they became friends, music caught their interest and eventually, they formed a band.

The book begins with some chapters set in their childhood and then fast forwards to their thirties when they're famous and touring the world.

Kai realized early on that he was gay, in part thanks to his feelings for Silas, which he kept hidden in an effort to save their friendship and avoid any awkwardness. Silas, being the most oblivious character ever, never had any idea about Kai's feelings, even though Kai was practically singing them to him at every concert.

As their latest tour was heading toward its end, Kai decided to do something about his unrequited feelings and since he believed that space was what he needed, he decided to bail for a few months. That coincidentally came right after Silas took their usual onstage teasing and playing a little too far. But what made Kai believe that there was no hope between them and lit a fire in Silas, who began seeing what was in front of him all these years.

There are a lot of misunderstandings and many issues could have been easily resolved if only the characters weren't so opposed to having an honest conversation. But I liked the story and didn't care much about all that, which means it wasn't overly done.

Their bandmates were nice additions and I look forward to Arlo's story with his bodyguard. There were some hints about a past between them but it wasn't nearly enough to satisfy my curiosity, so I hope there will be some chapters set before the events of Green Light.

Silas and Kai were absolutely adorable together, I love friends-to-lovers stories and here there was the added bonus of jealousy as Kai decided to bring a fake boyfriend with him when he came back. I think the boyfriend will be getting a story of his own if the little information we got about him is anything to go by.

So, I look forward to more books from this universe and to future cameos of the previous MCs.

I love romances with rock bands, always such fun dynamics and drama! And there’s plenty of drama and the angstttttt in this one OMG. Bout tore my heart out.

I’d definitely recommend reading the first book first since there is some overlap in timeline and we see how Kai and Silas are at the start of the overall series. I cannot imagine everything Kai has been going through, in love with his best friend for two decades. The PINING yall, all the feels. And these stupid men who just can’t TALK to each other haha.

There was a lot of push/pull with these two as they had to pull their heads out of their butts to talk and get on the same page finally. But BOY, let me tell you that the payoff and the wait for the spice is worth it! I love a good bi-awakening! And I don’t always love friends to lovers, but this one really worked for me, I think since there is so much angst mixed in.

I LOVE Lark. She’s basically on my auto-buy list, I don’t even need to read the blurb to know I’ll want to read it.

And that epilogue! PERFECTION. Honestly, I loved the way this one ended.

I definitely recommend you get her paranormal series (my faveeeeee) and if you lock rockstars, grab this one!

I received an arc for an honest review.

I had a hard time putting this one down, but I wanted MORE!

Lark has a wonderful way of weaving a story and developing characters. I love the subtle hints to current issues and topics such as anxiety, depression, abuse, etc.

I was really cheering for these characters. ESPECIALLY Kai. This poor man has been in love with his best friend for DECADES, and Silas (the dummy) had no freaking idea! How absolutely gut-wrenching! I totally understand why he didn't want to share his true feelings and risk their friendship, but man, the angst was killing me!

Once that kiss happened, I thought all bets were off, but then Kai runs away. FOR MONTHS! And doesn't even acknowledge his best friend. Just TALK TO HIM KAI!

Finally Silas understands that his feelings for Kai go way past "friend zone" and he wants more. Then Kai becomes the bigger dummy and gets himself a new boyfriend! It's like Ross and Rachel all over again. Except, at least Tristan is a fake boyfriend with his own problems (Lark I'm counting on you to fill us in there soon).

Thank goodness their family and friends finally intervene to get these two idiots to see what's right in front of them. Yay for happy endings! But I really wanted more time to spend with the couple once they got together for real. It all happened so fast at the end and I wanted MORE!

Now for my predictions in the future:
- Obviously Arlo and Jack - Red Haze needs to come out, like NOW - wtf did that weasel Kevin do to my boys?
- Rhys and Dylan - the bodyguards? is there something happening there? Wishful thinking on my part?
- Tristan's story- who is the guy and why did he need a fake boyfriend 'for freedom' - what does that mean?!?!?!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

WOW
I don't know if there is any other word for this book because it was so heartbreakingly beautiful story and damn the characters were more beautifully written.

Kai & Silas have been best friends since they were kids and Kai has been in love with Silas for a long time but Silas was straight and Kai was been hurt by their on-stage performances so he decided to move on and put some space between them.

My heart hurt for both of them, I got both of their feelings from their perspectives but still, there was so much pain both the characters had to go through to get their HEA. This was a slow burn but it didn't matter in the end for me because the author has written it so well and yes there is spice and lots of it which I enjoyed but overall it was just so amazing.

Kai & Silas had amazing chemistry even as best friends and once they had their heads out of their asses they were even more amazing. I loved Silas's relationship with Kai's family and was glad he had them as his family. And the confrontation with Silas's dad was so beautifully written, I liked it so much. And we couldn't forget the other two bandmates, Luca & Arlo were amazing and I am so looking forward to Arlo's & Jack's story.

Overall, I enjoyed this book and highly recommend you check this book out and also the series.

Agh my heart! I was routing for these two from the start.

Silas grew up with an abusive dad, his only comfort was his friendship with Kai. Their relationship was strong and they become pretty codependent. They spent pretty much every minute together except when Silas took a girl to his room. The Chemistry between them on stage was fire, but Silas was oblivious to the torment his best friend was going through.

Kai, saved by Silas. One chance meeting made them become fast friends, but also for Kai fast feelings. He struggled so much with hiding them, he would rather have Silas as a friend than nothing at all. Until it all got to much and he couldn’t do it anymore. The torture become to much.

This book is full of pining and angst, feelings were hurt so badly 😭 especially mine!! Agh these two!! I loved them so much. The spice in this book don’t hit till late in the book, but the lining makes up for it! And once they do get together it’s full steam ahead and so good!
I love seeing these band members find their HEA and I’m looking forward to Arlos book.

Green Light
5 stars and then some

What started with white noise brought us Caffeine Daydreams where we met and fell hard for this band and their bond. You knew it was gonna be a rough friend to lovers, but I don't think you're prepared for what Lark has put put into the world this go around. Kai and Silas have been each other's rocks for so long, but one kiss changes everything. With the time apart, your heart will be splayed open, with the fears these men have to put their heart on the line it will be further torn apart. But as always, with Lark, once the pain passes, you will be put back together with hope and love for these men to have their forever love.
Don't think Lark is a pnr only author she does contemporary just as brilliantly just in more visceral way that will make you feel the pain different but just as beautifully as with her paranormal work.

My wish for 2024 is that someone will explain to me what exactly is so great about the miscommunication trope because I still don't see it. I've never read a book where it didn't make my blood boil and make me want to rip my hair out (is this a kink thing? Do y'all like it because of that aspect?) because it's so unnecessary and doesn't even make sense and ruins so muucchhh😫 literally this could have been a 5 star friends to lovers read but noooooo of course the supposed best friends of twenty effing years can't talk about their feelings that would be disastrous mhmmm 🙄

I was so excited for this book ever since I first met Silas and Kai in the first book.
With Green Light, Lark Taylor gave both the wonderful story they deserve. I loved their dynamic, their chemistry.
Like with White Noise, I fell easily and hard for the heroes, rooting for them through the whole book. Getting attached to them and suffer heartbreak right along with them. I enjoyed every minute of their journey!

“I know it’s not healthy, but you’re the air I need to breathe. These past few months without you felt like I was slowly suffocating, able to draw enough breath to keep me alive but not enough to live.”
ARC Review~

Besties to lovers with soooooo much angst and pining - this is book 2 in Lark Taylor’s Caffeine Daydreams series of rockstar romances.

Kai & Silas have been friends ever since Silas defended Kai from a group of violent bullies. When Kai realised he was gay it surprised no one that he developed feelings for Silas… except Silas. After twenty years of being codependent best friends Kai realises he needs to move on. And then totally oblivious Silas kisses him. Was it part of the act or could it be something more?

Expect copious miscommunication and pining. I loved that after Silas discovered his interest in men that they didn’t get together immediately. He had to suffer while Kai tried to move on and omg it hurt but I couldn’t put the book down!!

Their chemistry is scorching hot and like Silas says “If you think about it, we’ve technically been dating for years.” So they’ve got lots of catching up to do 😏

A complete win for me - I’m loving this series and can’t wait for the next book!

❤️ A fantastic friends to lovers story.
A good start to the book with Kai and Salis first meeting and forming a friendship.
⚠️Note this has included domestic violence in the first chapters of the children's younger years.
Kai at age 13 didnt like the racist slurs from the neighbourhood especially beginning black from Timothy. Having to look after his siblings and his mum through keno treat.
Salis had an abusive father, and on a day he rescues Kai from a bully fight they become close friends.
At about 18 years they form a band at which Kai discovers feelings for Salis, his straight best friend.
Present time they were 🎶Caffeine Dreams🎶
I felt for Kai (now 35 yrs) as he'd been secretly in love with Salis since hed been about 15 yrs.
Includes bi- awakening, best friends to lovers, possible triggers, ptsd, slow romance,
I loved the scenes for Salis having no clue of Kai’s feelings even with the song lyrics.
Tristan comes into the scene and makes it interesting as he has a mystery for the arrangement.

Be prepared, this is Lark Taylor turned up to full volume. If you’re new here that means you’re in for a full bucket load of angst, pining, tragedy and more pining, but trust the process we do get a HEA.
Kai and Silas, we first met these two in White Noise and I have been looking forward to their story.
The early friendship between the two is really touching and I enjoyed that we got to see how that developed initially.
The pining and roadblocks will have you slamming the book down several times, to immediately pick it back up - I was glued to the pages and needing to see how they finally took their relationship to the next level.
Great addition to this series.
I read this as an ARC - but Lark has quickly become an auto buy author for me having read her whole catalogue.

Work’s been kicking my butt for the last month. That means comfort reads for me - only rereading my favorite books.
Then I got an ARC for Green Light. It’s book 2 in Caffein Daydreams - and I loved book 1. Naturally I had to dive in. 2 pages in I’m hooked and then Lark makes me tear up for half the book. The longing in this best friends to lovers story is so real. I could feel it all over my body.
Silas and Kai are rockstars and band mates - but mostly this is a beautiful book about brotherhood, friendship and an all consuming love.
I’m adding this to my comfort reads list - because Green Light grabs your heart and squeezes until you almost can’t bear it and then it fills you up with all the happy feelings.

Oh my god, how good was this epic friends to lovers story! I’ve been waiting for the rest of bandmates to get their HEA since White Noise and Lark Taylor hits it out of the park with Kai and Silas’s story!

Expect:
- Rockstar romance
- Best friends to lovers
- Childhood friendships
- Found family
- Slow burn
- Gorgeous lyrics
- Pining
- Fake dating
- Protective & Possessive MC
- Sexual awakening

The story starts perfectly with glimpses into the unshakeable childhood bond built on the back of shared burdens and protective love. Now, all grown up and part of Caffine Daydreams, Kai who’s been an inherent caregiver since he was a child, is still in love with his oblivious, straight identifying, best friend Silas and things have reached the breaking point with everything that’s festering & unsaid.

The heightened emotional language that Lark uses to pull us into this story is beautiful, taking us along, parsing out all the feelings through all the challenges that come even after Silas’s awakening, to their hard won HEA. I literally wanted to rush through the book to see what happens and slow it down so I wouldn’t run through it too soon

I absolutely love how the author navigates us through this story, balancing all the messy, intense feelings and reactions and doubts that are bound to come with such a tightly enmeshed friendship, specially when protective instincts are playing a part on both ends. Because of everything at stake, Kai makes a couple of choices that were less than ideal but the author paints a rich picture of what’s driving him, it’s humanising and understandable, Silas not letting him get away with it and the reconnection after was just perfect. Sometimes getting what you want can be as scary as not getting it.

I loved how these two finally give in to their attraction, specially Silas with his big beautiful heart, all in from the get go and ready to experience anything and everything. I loved seeing the rest of the band - I can’t believe Lark left us with a Jack shaped clue to the next story.. like I literally can’t wait. I’m also very curious about what’s going on with Dylan and Rhys.
I absolutely adored Kai’s family and my heart bled for what Silas went through with his.

Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Swoon: ♥️♥️♥️♥️
Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
Angst: ❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹
Humour: 🤣🤣🤣

We first met the boys when they were thirteen - fourteen - sixteen - eighteen years old. We get an impression of how they lived and grew up.

At sixteen Kai was aware he looked at Silas, as Silas looked at girls.
As far as Kai knew, he was the only one who liked boys. So he said nothing about it.
Being best friends you could find Silas often at Kai’s home.
Silas’ father wasn’t a good man, he’s abusive and threatening.

Silas and Kai had a dream, make music, become famous, and tour! And that dream came true.
Being close to Silas day in and day out, performing sensual acts on stage, is hurting Kai more and more.
Silas is clueless, he only gets company from girls, every night! It drives Kai to insanity.

Kai has to break free from Silas, at thirty-five, he has to find his own person he can grow old with.
It will never be Silas.

Kai had a plan, to find someone for himself so he could free himself from Silas, and he just disappeared to do that.

Silas is heartbroken, Kai is gone.

“Yessss.” My head fell back as the feeling transitioned from comfortable to f*cking awesome. “Lots and lots of practise.”

Okay, first: the pining was killing, second: the pining was awesome!
The communication between them was horrible, they had their reasons, but still, it was killing.
The songs were breathtakingly beautiful! I was in awe!
A beautiful story, heartbreaking at times, stubbornness was huge here. Supportive family and friends made this story complete. The bubble called Kia and Silas was amazing!
All attractively crafted, and very enjoyable!

An angsty & emotional MM childhood-besties-to-lovers rockstar romance, a story of longing & pinning that ripped my heart out. I love Kai, Silas, & the other bandmates (their friendship 🥰). Devoured my #ARC in around 6hrs.

Kai is sweet, broody, loyal, hurting. Silas is flirty, fun, sunny, oblivious. Kai had been in love with his friend for decades, always wanting, never saying, aching. Bandmates in Caffeine Daydreams, 1 onstage kiss changes all. A sexual awakening, a push, a pull. Silas has finally realised his love for Kai, but is it too late?

Gosh! Our dudes are idiots at times, the slowburn, misunderstandings made me mad & sad, but the realisations are glorious. I just wanted to hug (& scold!) them. When FINALLY they're all in, the sexy & sweet times are awesome 😏. I WANTED SO MUCH MORE WITH THEM!

Never saw Tristan coming honestly, that was a surprise! But despite all the issues this caused, he's good. My petty part liked Silas having a taste of his own medicine 🙈. I'm so excited for Arlo's book 🤞. RTC.

Story Ratings:

POV: 1st person, Dual POV

Honestly, I wasn't quite sure how to rate this.

On the one hand, I really hate miscommunication, and this book was full of it. I did think that given their situation, it was realistic. We're talking about decades of unresolved feelings here after all. But at some point, it felt like it bordered on too much, and it ended up frustrating me for more than a few chapters.

On the other hand, I loved Kai and Silas. I just wanted them to be together, and happy. As frustrating as it was, it is their story. It fits them when I think about it. Their love wasn't an easy one, and they needed to go through this. Kai needed to get over his fears, and Silas needed to figure himself out.

I loved this book more than the last one too so 3.5 starts rounded up to 4 seems fair to me.

Lark Taylor has become one of my favorite new authors with her steamy stories full of interesting characters. This one has the age-old story of the gay guy in love with his straight best friend, who is, of course, oblivious to his buddy's feelings. Pining and anguish ensues.

Some people may wonder why they just didn't talk to each other but I say anyone who thinks that hasn't been around the same kind of men I have because communication isn't a skill all of them learn. Or women either, for that matter. (Innocent face, whistling.)

This rock star romance is full of steam and so very much pining that the eventual HEA is well worth the ride. I'd give it a 4.5 but rounded up.
