5.0 out of 5 stars DIY Backyard Continuous Water Slide
Reviewed in the United States on June 25, 2021
Pure Product - lived up to the positive reviews and has even held up to some missed rocks and sticks underneath without tearing!

My DIY Waterslide Project:

Goal #1: I didn't want a muddy mess at the end of my slide
Goal #2: I didn't want to run up my water bill to keep it working.

So, I bought a few other materials and used some I already had:
1) 9x hay bails ($5 each locally - HD usually has some)
2) 1x large tarp for under the the splash pool at the bottom
3) an old Intex pump (https://www.amazon.com/Intex-28633EG-Krystal-Cartridge-110-120V/dp/B005QIYMNM/ref=sr_1_9?dchild=1&keywords=intex+pool+pump&qid=1624643306&sr=8-9)
4) current pump to existing pool (https://www.amazon.com/Intex-Krystal-filter-Ground-110-120V/dp/B07FHHV9YP/ref=sr_1_8?dchild=1&keywords=intex+pool+pump&qid=1624643262&sr=8-8)
5) intex pool waterfall (https://www.amazon.com/Intex-Multi-Color-Waterfall-Cascade-Hydroelectric/dp/B073RVQ6NG/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=intex+pool+waterfall&qid=1624643322&sr=8-3)
6) 2x 50 foot sections of 4" drain pipe (https://www.homedepot.com/p/Advanced-Drainage-Systems-4-in-x-50-ft-Corrugated-Pipes-Drain-Pipe-Perforated-04010050/203246783)
7) various 1.5" and 1.25% PVC pipe I already had left over

Splash Pool:
I started here, arranging the hay bails to create a U shape with one extra in the middle to create a bench seat which creates the main front part vs small extra rear pool. In that back section is where I put the suck drain anchored by a cinder block. Behind the middle hay bail, kids can't run into it.

I put an old tarp down to provide a little extra cushion and then dropped in one end of the slide. After weighting it down with some old bags of rocks behind the back hay bails, I wrapped it around the sides and inside. This takes a little time to pull it tight and form fit everything. You don't want any gaps because that creates weak spots.

Slide:
Next I stretched the slide up the hill and folded it in half so I could lay the drain pipe down for guard rails.

After getting them in place, I simply used a few pieces of duct tape underneath and then rolled a foot or two of material around the pipe to create some guardrails.

Water:
I used the existing main water pump filter for my pool to direct water up the hill to the PVC contraption at the top. (I would suggest lowering the outflow spigots because they splash a lot up high.)

The water fall kit includes a 2x way valve for the regular pump so you can choose between waterfall or wall outlet, but you can see in the video that the main pump now either runs to the pool or the slide. That way, you can still do normal filtering in the regular pool without pumping water through the whole slide contraption.

Then, I used the old pump to draw water from the splash pool back into the main pool through the water fall.

Notes:
Running around the grass creates a lot of debris in the splash pool so have a skimmer handy and be ready to clean out the return pump housing after a heavy day of use.

With this setup, the water is recycled, chlorinated, and filter twice... so my regular pool better be crystal clear all summer, lol!

Next Project:
Since the kids love this so much, we're planning to dig out a channel towards the back of our yard and use an old intex pool (that had a bad gash in the side) to create a more custom 1-2 foot deep splash pool. A contractor friend recommended a rubber pond sub material for under the slide when we go that direction.

Good luck!

5.0 out of 5 stars Hours of fun!
Reviewed in the United States on July 20, 2020
The slide came as advertised. A big blue, long tarp. As many as 8 kids were sliding down it at a time.. in clusters, linked up like a train, one after the other, etc. They used pool floats but plastic was thick enough for them to slide down without the protection of floats. A few of the metal ground stakes kept lifting up. Mainly when the water ran down the sides toward the stakes it softened the ground. But the slide is so big it didn’t move much. The tarp just loosened up when wasn’t fully staked down. Tighter the tarp the faster they went. Clean up was easy. Only suggestion would be to reinforce the holes in the tarp for the stakes. They did send extra fiber tape.
