    Back-illuminated 26.1 megapixel image sensor

The FUJIFILM X-T30 features the X Series' Fourth Generation X Trans CMOS 4 Sensor. Boasting a resolution of 26.1MP, the sensor uses the unique X-Trans color filter array to reduce moire and false colors, all without the need for an optical low pass filter. Additionally, its back-illuminated structure enhances image quality, while reducing noise levels and extending the native ISO to ISO160.

    X-Processor 4

The new X-Processor 4 has a quad-core design, which make use of the X-Trans CMOS 4 sensor's full potential. In fact, this combination is the driving force behind the camera's Enhanced Film Simulation Modes, it's advanced auto-focus tracking capability, and high-quality 4K/30P video capabilities.

    Control Mode

You can select "Program," "Shutter Speed Priority," "Aperture Priority" and "Manual" by using a combination of the Shutter Speed Dial and the Aperture Ring on the lens. The Exposure Compensation Dial also allows you to adjust exposure by up to ±5 stops*.

    * When using the dial at "C" position

    Auto Mode

When using the Advanced SR Auto mode, the camera automatically selects the optimum shooting settings from 58 preset scenes.

When the Advanced SR Auto mode is selected, the camera examines the scene and automatically selects optimum autofocus and exposure settings. This mode is useful for situations where it is difficult to determine the right exposure settings. You only need to press the shutter to obtain high-quality images and capturing perfect photo opportunities.

Faster and more accurate AF performance

The number of AF phase detection pixels in the sensor have been increased to 2.16 million and now cover the entire frame (approx. 100%). This enables fast and accurate auto-focusing. Additionally, The low-light threshold for phase detection AF has been also expanded from +0.5EV in previous-generation camera systems to -3.0EV.

    Mechanical Shutter and Electronic Shutter

The FUJIFILM X-T30 can shoot continuously at up to 8.0fps in full resolution when using the mechanical shutter.

In Sports Finder Mode, the camera will capture 16.6 Mega-Pixel images with a 1.25x crop factor and use its electronic shutter. This makes it possible for the camera to have AF/ AE-tracking, blackout-free continuous shooting of up to 30fps, and silent mode.

free continuous shooting of up to 30fps, and silent mode. "Face- and Eye-detection AF" for better portrait photographs

Compared to previous models, Face and Eye Detection have had their accuracy and performance doubled. This is especially true when tracking subjects from the side or when they are coming towards the camera. For portrait photographers using shallow depths of field, Eye-detection AF can be configured to priority focus on individual eyes, or on the eye closest to the camera. Eye-detection AF is also supported in AF-C mode, which will assist in providing accurate focus for moving subjects.

"Face Select" function ensures that the right subject is captured

When there are multiple faces within the frame, you can select a specific person on the touchscreen panel or with the Focus Lever so that autofocus and exposure settings are optimized for the subject. "Face Select" is a perfect tool when shooting commemorative photos or shooting a specific person in a large crowd in sports or other events.

4K/30P Video Recording and High Resolution Digital Audio

Thanks to its advanced sensor and processor combination, the FUJIFILM X-T30 is capable of recording incredible 4K (3840x2160) video by down-sampling its 6K (6240x3510) capture.

The camera also supports 4K DCI (17:9), an industry standard that gives videos an even more cinematic look.

Finally, F-Log recording with 4:2:2 10-bit output can be captured through the HDMI port, giving professional filmmakers a wonderfully capable tool to use in achieving their creative visions.

The Face- and Eye-detection AF during Video Recording

Face and Eye-Detection AF can be used when recording video by using the touchscreen panel or the Focus Lever.

4K video with Film Simulation modes

Film Simulations can also be used when capturing 4K video to creatively interpret any scene. For example, ETERNA is particularly suitable for video thanks to its subdued colors and rich shadows. ACROS delivers monochromatic video with fine textures and rich grains. CLASSIC CHROME creates a unique atmosphere, reminiscent of vintage reversal films, while scenes requiring high levels of saturation can benefit from using Velvia. Whichever simulation is chosen, it can be assured that FUJIFILM's color processing engine will be there to deliver incredible results.

    FUJIFILM's unique Film Simulation modes

The FUJIFILM X-T3 offers 16 Film Simulation modes so that you can match your true photographic intention in a similar way to how photographers used to choose purpose-specific photographic films. This unique philosophy reflects Fujifilm’s heritage and color science know-how, nurtured by over 80 years of film manufacturing.

Choose from: Provia, Velvia, Astia, Classic Chrome,Acros (+Ye/R/G Filter), Pro Neg Hi, Pro Neg Std & Eterna.

    High performance electronic viewfinder

The FUJIFILM X-T30 features a 2.36-million-dot high resolution EVF with a magnification ratio of 0.62x.

Offering a magnification ratio equivalent to DSLRs, the display has a lag time of just 0.005 seconds and has a refresh rate of 100fps, which allows for quick adjustments when subjects move unpredictably.

Unlike a DSLRs with optical viewfinders, the EVF helps content creators see exactly what the sensor will capture. This means film simulations and exposure effects can be shown in real-time, which ultimately assists in helping to achieve creative visions more easily.

    Tilting touchscreen LCD monitor

The FUJIFILM X-T30 features a 3.0-inch tilting touchscreen LCD monitor that has a 3:2 aspect ratio and approx. 1.04 million dots. The tilting design enables easy shooting from high and low angles. All shooting information, normally displayed on the monitor, can be turned off if you want to concentrate on taking the picture.

    Capacitive Touchscreen Panel

Equipped with a capacitive touchscreen panel, the FUJIFILM X-T30 allows touch-based controls during shooting, such as "Touch AF," "Touch Focus Area Selection," "Touch Shot" and "Touch Function". This capability means you can move your focus area faster and more intuitively than ever before or simply use a swipe motion to scroll through images when reviewing.

    Enhanced grip and handling

The FUJIFILM X-T30 uses an eight-direction lever instead of the traditional 4-way selector buttons. This makes the camera's compact body more stable during use and makes it easier to handle. The grip thickness has also been increased to provide more hand-held comfort.

    Automatic transfer with Bluetooth

The FUJIFILM X-T30 can be paired with a smart device with Bluetooth for always on connection*, enabling automatic transfer of pictures you take to share quickly on social media. 5 Stars
I've made many wrong purchases, this is not one of them.
I would like to start by saying I'm going to make this review in 4 parts, and 2nd I really really really like this camera, is this the absolute perfect camera unlikely, but is it perfect for me yes, I'm going to be honest I'm not rolling in cash, I have a budget so I have to be choosy, memories are important to me so I'm willing to spend a little money on a really good camera, I have a good camera with my Samsung Galaxy S10e but I wanted something better so I decided to get a professional camera and now that I did the photos from my phone look like trash to put it plainly, but I'll explain more about that further in the review and just so you know I'm not going to make this a crazy long review I'm going to keep it short and simple.First let's start off with the most important thing picture quality, in my opinion it's amazing I am very happy with the photos it takes, I'm not going to lie when I first started taking photos with this camera I thought it took really bad photos but after watching many YouTube videos and learning a thing or two about mirrorless cameras I'm extremely impressed with the quality of photos it takes, even my friends and family have been extremely impressed with the quality of them as well, but do keep in mind this isn't the best camera money can buy so with the price to quality ratio its a really really good deal even at full price in my opinion, if you can get it on sale then you are a very lucky man or woman.2nd build quality, it's extremely well-built in my opinion very sturdy it's supposedly not weather sealed but It could have fooled me, I really like how tough it feels and how small yet light it is, my sister commented that it was heavy but I feel like it's really light overall I really like the body the only downside in my opinion is that Q button but I disabled it so its no longer a problem, moving on.3rd software, autofocus, now if I had a complaint about something it would undoubtedly be the the menus it's a nightmare at the beginning there's a huge learning curve but once you learn where everything is it's not that bad, in fact I'm starting to like it it's really well-organized in my opinion you just got to be kind of tech-savvy I guess and take the time to learn the menus, just prepare to have a major headache when learning how to transfer the photos from the camera to a smartphone it took me about two hours but once you do learn how to do that you'll realize it's really simple, keep in mind this was probably only hard for me because I lost the instruction book very early on in my purchase so I had to learn everything on my own. Now the other thing autofocus I've heard a lot of people complain about it that it's not the perfect autofocus that the Sony mirrorless cameras have in my use of this camera it's been handling everything extremely well, so even with that I'm impressed with.Everything else, no I'm not going to give an in depth review of the video because I just haven't used it that much I mainly take photos but the videos I have taken are superb as well even the mics that come in built into the camera I've been impressed with. Now the lens that it came with in my opinion is very good, simple to use Simple to clean feels very well-built, and best part of all I feel I don't need to buy another one it handles all my photo needs so I'm very happy with that too. So now overall with everything considered I'm very happy with my purchase I don't regret it and I guess that's the most important thing when you make an expensive purchase like this, do I recommend this camera yes, I did tons and tons of research and spent hours and hours and hours reading reviews and watching reviews on YouTube and I believe I made the right choice, I don't know if my standard of quality is the same as yours, all I can comment on is how I feel about this camera and I believe it's perfect for me, I really like the quality of the photos, the build of the camera, and now after using it for a while even the menu system, now to end things, this camera is an excellent buy and that's my humble opinion, I hope this review helps you and thanks for taking the time to read my review.Update 12-12-19I'm still loving this camera nothing has really changed, I still wholeheartedly recommend it, but I just wanted to post some photos that I have taken, they aren't my best ones because With those I was either on the job or they are too personal, but here are some real good ones unedited to show what this camera is capable of.Update 03-22-20After getting off of auto mode and taking some professional videos, I'm still even more impressed. The photos using the simulation modes are truly amazing, learning all the features on this camera is a nightmare but if you want to take truly amazing pictures that will wow anyone on Facebook or Instagram this is your camera. It's been a journey but learning how to be a professional photographer is a very rewarding experience, being able to capture the beauty of the world around you to remind you where you been is something you can't put a price on. Video on the other has impressed me and disappointed me at the same time when it's working well the video quality is also amazing but it has this odd bug where it overblows the lighting, I'm pretty sure I figured out what it is, but still haven't had to chance to try it, but if it works then that would literally make this the best budget camera ever. Either way I'm still very happy with my purchase and still don't regret buying this camera, in fact I plan on buying a new lens the Fujinon XF27mmF2.8 - Black, to make it smaller and more portable for street photography, I'll let everyone if it's worth getting and how the camera continues to perform in the next update. y'all stay safe during this Coronavirus outbreak.PS I'm adding two photos that I took using the simulations, which are the cats one, and the sky one. Plus 4 more that I edited using Adobe Lightroom which are the ones with the bikes and the old car the one with the bus, and the one with the two pathfinders sitting down chilling. I plan on posting a video as well in the next update as well.

3rd software, autofocus, now if I had a complaint about something it would undoubtedly be the the menus it's a nightmare at the beginning there's a huge learning curve but once you learn where everything is it's not that bad, in fact I'm starting to like it it's really well-organized in my opinion you just got to be kind of tech-savvy I guess and take the time to learn the menus, just prepare to have a major headache when learning how to transfer the photos from the camera to a smartphone it took me about two hours but once you do learn how to do that you'll realize it's really simple, keep in mind this was probably only hard for me because I lost the instruction book very early on in my purchase so I had to learn everything on my own. Now the other thing autofocus I've heard a lot of people complain about it that it's not the perfect autofocus that the Sony mirrorless cameras have in my use of this camera it's been handling everything extremely well, so even with that I'm impressed with.

Everything else, no I'm not going to give an in depth review of the video because I just haven't used it that much I mainly take photos but the videos I have taken are superb as well even the mics that come in built into the camera I've been impressed with. Now the lens that it came with in my opinion is very good, simple to use Simple to clean feels very well-built, and best part of all I feel I don't need to buy another one it handles all my photo needs so I'm very happy with that too. So now overall with everything considered I'm very happy with my purchase I don't regret it and I guess that's the most important thing when you make an expensive purchase like this, do I recommend this camera yes, I did tons and tons of research and spent hours and hours and hours reading reviews and watching reviews on YouTube and I believe I made the right choice, I don't know if my standard of quality is the same as yours, all I can comment on is how I feel about this camera and I believe it's perfect for me, I really like the quality of the photos, the build of the camera, and now after using it for a while even the menu system, now to end things, this camera is an excellent buy and that's my humble opinion, I hope this review helps you and thanks for taking the time to read my review.

    Update 12-12-19
I'm still loving this camera nothing has really changed, I still wholeheartedly recommend it, but I just wanted to post some photos that I have taken, they aren't my best ones because With those I was either on the job or they are too personal, but here are some real good ones unedited to show what this camera is capable of.

    Update 03-22-20
After getting off of auto mode and taking some professional videos, I'm still even more impressed. Either way I'm still very happy with my purchase and still don't regret buying this camera, in fact I plan on buying a new lens the Fujinon XF27mmF2.8 - Black, to make it smaller and more portable for street photography, I'll let everyone if it's worth getting and how the camera continues to perform in the next update. y'all stay safe during this Coronavirus outbreak.
PS I'm adding two photos that I took using the simulations, which are the cats one, and the sky one. Plus 4 more that I edited using Adobe Lightroom which are the ones with the bikes and the old car the one with the bus, and the one with the two pathfinders sitting down chilling. I plan on posting a video as well in the next update as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just buy it. Seriously, why are you still even reading this?

Starting out my professional career, I mainly used Canon (6D mk.II) and Nikon (D750) cameras and lenses, and to boot, I had only had experience with DSLR's and SLR's, so for some reason, mirrorless seemed foreign and scary to me. However, when I saw this little beauty, I was awestricken. For months, I looked and looked, scoured all corners of the internet for reviews, videos, etc, etc, ad nauseam. Unexpectedly, I received this as a present recently. And I have to say: What a camera! After going through dial/knob/button setup and mapping, and of course, the firmware updates; I very quickly fell in love. All of the buttons and dials, yes, even the joystick, have this really nice responsive feel to them. They click into place so satisfyingly, that I would suggest buying it just off of that alone. While I read the the EVF is a tad smaller than its beefier sibling, the X-T3, I still find nothing about it to be lacking at all. The image displayed is crisp and clear, and seeing what your image is estimated to look like before you even shoot it is a joy.

    Now, onto other details;

The kit lens: I received the XC 15-45mm kit lens with my camera. Some reviews on this particular lens are divided, and it seems that overall quality varies. The one I've received however, produces crisp, clear images with no noticeable color distortion, and easily fixable lens/barrel distortion. This may not be the case with the lens that you, yourself get, as stated before.

LCD tilt-screen: The screen is just as the EVF, crisp, clear, and vibrant. I have no issues with it, and it seems very well-made and sturdy. The one issue that everyone seems to have, is the fact that the screen doesn't tilt a full 180 degrees; however, this can be aided by an external monitor, or their phone application. I don't share this gripe, as I don't stream, or take many self-portraits, but I can see why certain people do have issues with that.

Body: Overall, I wasn't expecting it to be much before reading all of the reviews and watching all of the hands-on videos. But, boy was I wrong. This camera has far exceeded my expectations in build quality. It feels solid, and very well made. I kinda disliked the plasticy feel of DSLR's, and was surprised when even the control dials on the front and back were metal too!

Image Quality: The images that this camera produces are stellar! A lot of them need very little to no editing. If you really like to shoot in JPEG format, then this is the camera for you. The JPEGs come out sharp and vibrant. And, with the film simulations, you just can't beat these images! As someone who has experience with Velvia, Provia, and Acros; these simulations are probably the closest you can come to the real thing. The RAWs come in the RAF format, and work well enough in Lightroom. A little tip that some of you reading this may not know: To use the film simulations in Lightroom, under where you choose the image profile; click "Camera Matching", and you'll see all of the film simulations

    Overall: Just get it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A significant worthy upgrade to both my Canon SL2 and M200
Reviewed in Canada on February 1, 2022
I bought this camera kit last July for $1289 on 12 monthly installments, and I have to say this is one of the best investments I have ever made.

"Good" and "great" doesn't even do this camera justice, and "not bad" is a complete insult. It is INSANE how capable this thing is for its price. But before I explain why, I must tell you the context behind why I went for the X-T30.

    CONTEXT:
My first DSLR was the Canon Rebel SL2. I mostly bought it for video shooting, but I was very dismayed by how awful the video quality was, and no it wasn't because of the lens (I have a 50mm prime). Then in early 2021, I decided to try out the Canon M200. The video quality was much better because of 4K, but ultimately I returned it due to heating issues. So I began looking into the pricier mirrorless options such as the Canon M6 Mark II and EOS RP.

It wasn't until I discovered a comparison tool on DPreview that I realized just how awful the video quality was on most Canon mirrorless/DLSR cameras. If you take a look at the latter images I attached, you can clearly see that—using the RP as an example—the video stills on the X-T30 are much more sharper and clearer. This may not matter much for "on-the-go" shots, but for stationary tripod shots, it makes a BIG difference in the video quality. This was the turning point in which I realized that I must break out of the Canon ecosystem and consider alternatives.

    WHY THIS CAMERA IS BETTER:
Of course, after reading the reviews on the website DPreview, it was already clear to me. The Fujifilm T-X30 was objectively the best option, both price-wise and video quality-wise. The more I looked into it, the more impressed I was. A few key things I want to point out:

    1) Apparently this camera shares the exact same sensor as its more expensive and capable counterpart, the X-T3. The fact that Fujifilm didn't downgrade the sensor on its budget models speaks volumes.
    2) There is no 4K sensor crop (unlike the Canon M200/M50/RP/etc.), nor is there pixel binning (unlike the Canon M6 Mark II).
    3) Unlike Canon cameras, there is no anti-aliasing filter on the X-T30, which is why videos look much sharper and clearer.

    REVIEW:
All of these advantages translates perfectly to real-life usage. I am overall VERY satisfied with the results I got from this camera.
Firstly, I am very happy with the colour grading on here (known as film simulations). There are plenty of different gradings you can choose from, with Provia being the default one. Eterna is personally my favorite. Each simulation has its own unique colours; it feels like the color comes naturally from the camera, as opposed to simply overlaying a filter on top. Or to put another way, the simulations are quite tasteful and refined. There is clearly a lot of science behind these film simulations. To someone who has grown tired from typical Canon colour science (with the emphasized reds), this was a breath of fresh air. As you can see from the attached video sample, the shot I took of the Niagara river has very pleasing and tasteful colours; I used Velvia for that shot. There is one thing I've noticed though, and it's that this camera emphasizes green hues just a bit. So I sometimes tend to pull down the greens.

Secondly, there are a lot of useful customization options. I won't go over everything, but you pretty much can customize the interface to your desired liking. I also like that you can set swipe gestures to bring up a desired menu.

Thirdly, 4K video recording is perfect on here. No 4K crop is really a blessing to have. I can get far more stuff into my shot without having to move further from the subject. In my case, I often shoot product reviews, so now I don't have to put my tripod on a desk and shoot all the way down from the ceiling. Also, thermals have been very decent. Obviously it gets hot, but it never shuts down before the programmed 10 minute limit; the M200 always shut down even before the limit. Lastly, while it may not seem impressive, I really appreciate that it can shoot in 30fps; the M200 could only shoot up to 24fps.

Fourthly, and I feel that I have said this so many times, but man, both the picture and video quality on here is amazing. It is literally endgame quality. Truthfully I'd say it's way better than any Canon. As you can see in the photos, the contours of the buildings are so sharp like a knife, and so well-defined. And normally when you zoom in on photos, the outlining starts to get blurry; not with the X-T30 though.

And lastly, the build and design of this camera is just superb. The top-half metal housing makes the camera feel quite premium, not even Canon cameras use metal. The "vintage" design is certainly different from your typical modern camera and gives a very whimsical impression. And overall, I appreciate the compactness of the camera, it is more portable compared to its larger sibling. FYI, there is a reason I put this last. While this camera may get people's attention just for its looks, its inner beauty is far more impressive than its outer beauty.

Of course, there are some minor downsides. The SD card slot is housed within the battery compartment, making it very cumbersome if you always have a tripod quick release plate attached. I would've also favored a 360 flip-out screen. But COME ON, I am paying $1289 for a camera kit with a sensor from an $1899 camera kit! You really cannot ask for more!

And there you have it, the X-T30. The little mirrorless camera that could. For those who desire the best quality for the lowest price, this is it. You really cannot get a better price to value ratio. For perspective, the RP currently sits at a hefty $1599 price tag; the M6 II at $1449.

NOTE: Unfortunately it does not seem like this little guy is available on Amazon anymore, so my review might be a bit late. I feel so lucky that I bought this though.
