Book 3 in this exciting PNR series.

This is west and Evalgalines story.

West was Evangeline's guardian, he was also her destined mate - he wouldn't act on it as he didn't believe he was worthy.

Evangaline is now the queen and is still smarting from rejection, she still loves him though.

West is busy trying to keep her safe without her knowing, its not long until the two of them are pushed together again and at last they see the light.

That should mean happily ever after but not in this world there is still danger afoot and its all very exciting and keeps you wondering who will die!

Evan and West are the main characthers, there are flashback to explain their relationship some more through the book, it is not just their book though the characthers from a previous books are all involved and in danger.......

An exciting read with good characther development. I would recommend reading this series in order as there are lots of characthers and world building through the book.

I loved Evangeline! She was feisty, smart and had the moves to make a great kick-a** heroine! West wasn’t too shabby himself. He acquiesced to Evan when it was prudent to and didn’t hesitate to stand his ground when he felt right. He may be Guardian to her Queen, but he’s also not afraid to let a women take charge. Their romance was a long journey of denial and want and when they finally gave in?! I luuuurrrrvvvveed it;)

I am hooked on the Phoenix series! There’s a good size group of characters to follow and I find them all quite interesting and the storyline is exciting! Seers, Wraiths, Phoenixes, witches, Shifters, villainous plot to take over and destroy -well, more than they already have-Oh! And my favorite bits?! The snark! I love the snarky quips and sharp humor! The banter alone could carry me through, but the battles are just as good. This is a great series that just gets progressively better and would definitely recommend!

Evangeline Black is now the Queen of the Wraiths. She has some trouble with the higher class families that she needs to control. They seem to think they can take any soul ,when it's only supposed to be the evil ones.
West Carmichael was Evangeline's guardian until she sent him away. He knows she is his mate but doesn't think he is worthy.
When Evan gets word that several wraiths are being tortured, West among them she decides it's time to start acting like a Queen and kick some ass. This is the third book in a series that should be read in order. Each has it's own story but starts where the last one finished, and teases you for the next. Lots unusual battles because the characters are Wraiths and Phoenix who have strange fighting abilities. An interesting and enjoyable read.

Oh wow! Annie Anderson took my expectations and went one better. I love the strong, independent women that she has created and their loyal and strong mates. They have weaknesses and faults but they work through the issues in complicated, all too real life, ways. Life isn't always easy but their relationships forge a path to brighter futures.

A fluid and fast read, all I wanted to do was get myself to the end so I knew what was coming next. But I didn't want the story to end either! I can't wait to hear about Nicola and Kyle, I also get the feeling there is another couple revealed in this book. That has me intrigued and more than ready for the next books.

Entranced and engrossed in the story. Annie Anderson created an epic tale that had me hooked and I'm still reeling.

I really liked this one!! I want to be kick ass like Evangeline!! She knew what she wanted and she wasn't afraid. I'm glad West got his crap together. I liked the different POV from the other characters. Squee for Aurelia and Rhys!!! Such a good PNR read. Hope there's more!!

First, many thanks go to the author; I was given access to a copy of this manuscript back several months ago for a pre-read and an edit. Truth to tell, I was already wanting to read it, just from hearing the buzz about it. I had not - and have not, yet, read the first two books in this series. (Don’t worry, I will.) I went into this novel with only the barest information about this world, gleaned from my BFF’s having read them. So, I knew the mechanics of this world, but not the details. What made me want to read this was the description, and the teasers. The teasers for this book were….eye catching, to say the least. They did their job well.

I had been going through a slump with paranormal books at the time; I had burnt out on them because everything I found myself reading or trying to read all felt the same. I’m happy to say that this is the novel that pulled me out of that slump. I’ve been happily devouring paranormal tales ever since.

Evangeline has only recently come to power, being crowned the Queen of the Wraiths since her parents’ assassination. Does she want to rule? Not really, she would rather have her parents alive and well. Can she rule? Oh, yes. She is no one to be trifled with, although the upper class families of her people don’t take her seriously at all. She struggles to cement her power base, while mourning her parents and grieving another loss - the loss of West, her destined mate. He has been her guard for umpteen decades, and though he loves her with all of his heart, he refuses to bond with her - in essence, to commit to her. It’s not that he’s a commitment phobe, but he feels unworthy of her. Also, in this world there is the catch that when a couple bonds, what happens to one happens to the other. In his job as the King’s Assassin, he has made a countless number of enemies, and he refuses to put her in that sort of danger. He leaves her, telling himself (and Evan) that it is for her own protection, and seeks to uncover the root of the corruption that is threatening their society. The rabbit hole goes a good bit deeper than even he bargained for, and West finds himself tricked, trapped, and on the brink of death. Can he survive long enough to send a word of warning to his Queen? Will Evangeline risk everything to save the man she loves, no matter the cost?

As I mentioned before, this is the first of this series that I have read, and it earned a five star rating from me just on the strength of this story alone. The characters are so well developed and the chemistry between them (not only of the main couple, the other two featured as well) just resonates off the page. It is fast paced, stuffed full of action, and full of heart. The flashbacks within tell the backstory of Evan and West, and it’s quite the emotional tale. I really enjoyed this novel, and will be looking forward to more.

Rising Ashes
By: Annie Anderson

4 star review by Kristie K.

Just when you thought the evil witch was dead...

Evangeline "Evan" Black is one seriously powerful woman. Recently rising to Queen of her people, Evan has something to prove, and a whole race of people to set to rights. More than capable of being the leader they need, Evan has the power and potential to save the world...but she never thought she would have to lead without her rock by her side. West has a past, one he hasn't shared with many...least of all the woman that holds his heart and soul in her hands. His secrets and refusal to take her as his own, may have just cost him everything. Following the death of her parents, Evan is forced to take control and rule her people. When her Guardian, lover, and mate once again refuses to make her his...Evan releases West from his duties as her Guardian. Now she is faced with an evil so great it threatens their very existence, and she is the only one that can stop it.

Rising Ashes is the third installment of the Ashes to Ashes series by Annie Anderson. I have had the pleasure of reading and following Ms. Anderson on this journey, and have enjoyed every step. A new author with incredible potential, Annie Anderson has created a brand new world for us to enjoy. One filled with the fiery Phoenix, smoking Wraith's, witches, warlocks, and shifters too. A breath of fresh air, and a bright new star on the horizon, Ms. Anderson has captured my imagination. I was highly anticipating this installment, as the relationship between Evan and West was teased in the previous two books, and it was fascinating and irresistible. I would be lying if I said I was completely and 100% satisfied with the outcome, but my anticipation may have made the perfect outcome impossible to reach. I thoroughly enjoyed the flashbacks to the history between Evan and West. It gave an insight into their relationship we wouldn't have seen otherwise. I am not one to enjoy a torturously slow build up to the climactic finish, but I also don't relish the bungee ride to the top either. Timing and flow are two of the most difficult things I think an author can master. I think the flow was smooth, but the timing seemed a bit rushed in places. Sometimes I just want a little bit more. More detail, more growth, more buildup. That being said, I truly enjoyed this adventure. I adore these characters, and the anticipation grows with each book. We got to see all of the characters change and grow in ways we never imagined possible. And the feels were real, folks. I got chills. Ms. Anderson has delivered another thrilling adventure that is as unique as it is exciting. Till next time....

Another book by Annie Anderson that I really enjoyed. Rising Ashes is the 3rd book in the Ashes to Ashes Paranormal series. This story is complicated enough that you will need to start at book 1 before you read Rising Ashes. The order for reading this series is:

1. Scattered Ashes
2. Falling Ashes
3. Rising Ashes and it looks like a 0.5 will be out in October 2016
4. Smoldering Ashes – tentative December 2016

Thank you for keeping the Glossary of Terms. This story can get complicated and the Glossary really helped me and believe me I used it.

This book is West Carmichael and Evangeline Black’s story. Evangeline (Evan) is the new queen of Wraiths and West (not is real name it is Henry Carmichael Weston) was the King’s assassin.
You will also see the characters from the previous books in Rising Ashes. Aurelia Constantine and Rhys Stevens from Scattered Ashes and Mena Constantine and Asher Crane from Falling Ashes play big parts in this book as well.

I will let you read the synopsis that Annie Anderson wrote since I think the author does a far better job than I do. This is a really good series that leaves you wanting for more. And, more you shall have since we know there will be more, see above.

Oh I would have bought this book because of the warning if I had not already been reading this series. But, here is the warning for this book and if you don't like any part of what is in the warning then you do not need to read this book. But, if you do love what is in the warning I say go for it. Buy this book and the other 2 previous books if you haven't already read them.

Warning by Annie Anderson at the front of this ARC and for some reason I don't see it on Amazon so here it is:

"This book is intended for readers aged 18 and older. Within these pages are situations contains effluent cursing, torture, blood, guts, gore, sex, love, despair, war, heartbreak, corruption and death.

If you are unable to handle these situations, I would advise putting this book down immediately. Because ****'s about to get real."

I received a complimentary copy of Rising Ashes for an honest review. I give this book 5 STARs and I can’t wait for the next book.

This is the third book in this series and they need to be read in order. I absolutely love this series and this book didn’t disappoint. This book focuses on Evan and West as a couple but the group as a whole for the fights and such as always. You get to read about the other characters as well. With both of Evan’s parents passing in book 2 she is now the Queen of the Wraiths. She is frustrated with West’s refusal to bond to her and with the loss of her parents it has pushed her over. Since he won’t bond to her she has released him from his guardian duties and sent him away. West realizes too late that he wasn’t helping but hurting her. His plan now is to find out who was behind the death of her parents and fix it. Then he will beg her to take him back. It’s a good plan but when he gets himself captured he finds out they are in more trouble than they ever thought. Now he has to get himself and 3 of their friends free so he can warn Evan about what he learned so they can prepare. Will he be able to do it or die trying? There is a lot of action and emotion in this book. Rhys and Aurelia get a nice surprise in this book and it affects their position in the battles. Mena and Asher also play a part on the book. Mena picks up the things Aurelia can’t do in this book. Evan gets two new guardians who quickly learn they can’t force her to do what they want to. She is in charge and isn’t afraid to let everyone know. She appreciates that the guys what to protect her but she isn’t some delicate flower that can’t take care of herself. I truly love the characters in this book and can’t wait for the next one to see where to story takes them next. Annie is a fantastic author and I am always excited for her next book, whether it is one in this series or a totally new book. I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes action, adventure, girls who don’t take shit and who aren’t a damsel, hot alpha males, and more.
I was given this book in return for an honest review.

As always Annie has hit it out of the park, across the Atlantic and brought it home with the next installment in the Ashes to Ashes Series. talk about a lot of heart clinching moments followed by some seriously hot, bad-ass moments. If you loved Ari and Mena.. dude's hold onto your knickers, cause a pissed off Even.. Yikes. Girlfriend is hella hot. Just Saying.

I was lucky enough to be a Beta reader for Rising Ashes so I got a first look but that does not play a part in my review. this book is a 5 * read for me and its a well deserved 5 *'s. Its the perfect mix of chaos and suspense. You really can not stop turning the dang pages. You will fall in love with some characters, want to strangle others and even, find a couple you just want to put in your pocket and keep safe. Okay, so that may be me but if you really love Paranormal and Suspense, this will wet your lips and have you in a land of "oh no she didn't" with a side of "Kick some arse".

Evan and West are two troubled and broken souls.... and at times I wanted to slap them both for being stubborn and not listening to their dang hearts.... But what you don't see at first is the why.

There is a rhyme to the reason as they would say. Evan has so much power running through her that she's afraid. West is afraid his past is going to take out his present and future. Aka, Evan. It's all in the name of protecting the one you love. I can say when the sh*t storm starts and it's up to them all to come together for the greater good we get to see Evan in all her badarsed Xena Warrior Princess bliss and my God, it's effing epic... And yeah, okay. It's frigging hot as hell.

Y'all can have West, I'll take Evan. Just saying. :) it's a great, quick read that is a good you have to add to your TBR, like yesterday.

I've said this about the two previous books...this is the series that brought me back to paranormal. I had stopped reading paranormal for several years and then found Scattered Ashes and since then I find that few other paranormal series are of this quality. The writing is brilliant, sure there's some absolutely fabulous romance but it's beyond paranormal romance. There's adventure and edge of your seat action on just about every page.

But let's talk about this book, Rising Ashes. This book is all about Evangeline and West (my new book boyfriend), although we see Aurelia (Auri), Rhy (be still my heart), Mena and Asher (he's so cute). It starts where Falling Ashes left off, at Evan's parents' funeral. She's now the Queen of Wraiths and from the funeral on, everyone is fighting evil and darkness with goodness and light.

Even though West knows Evan his mate, he refuses to do anything about it. However, this only causes more problems than they solve and eventually he comes to realize he can't fight what is meant to be. Secrets of who West is are revealed and we get to find out what he really thought of Evan when he first met her.

In this book you'll get weddings, births and trips to the hospital. There are wayward wraiths that think they can take good souls along with the evil ones. West will seek answers as to who killed his King. You'll get nail biting moments throughout the whole book, throughout the whole series, actually.

I want to give every single detail of this book but honestly, you have to read it to understand how truly wonderful this book is. As with all the books in the series the epilogue clears things up and gives way to a new story line.

Once again the author left me wanting more!

What can I say about this book other than it's nothing short of amazing? What can be said about an electrifying, soul shattering, heartbreaking, play on words. This book definitely touches something deep in me in at a time I needed a smile and my world was definitely upside down. This book just like the other gripped me then held me from beginning till the end. Was there ever a point I was disappointed with this story yes when was I disappointed when it ended because I knew this was the end and I didn’t want it to end. These two characters definitely drew me into their struggle to find love with each other and stop fighting what was supposed to be. Do I think this couple gain the title Power couple along with the others? Yes, because not only was their magic powerful but their love was a force that knew no bounds.
West and Evangeline’s love was definitely a love rising from the ashes of misunderstanding and miscommunication but I think without any of these that their love would not have been as strong or resilient. Yes, West was a hard headed alpha who though he knew what was best but he went against a Queen and we all know the queen knows best. What I always find with Mrs. Anderson's stories is that even the secondary characters just flow they don’t make the story awkward or take over they just add to it.
The writing, the characters, the plot, just this story period is awesome. I loved it from page one because I knew that it was going to be all greatness like book one and two. If you have not read one of these books, please do because not only will you like it you might just love it because the journey you will go on is so worth it.

Rising Ashes is the third book in the Ashes to Ashes series and boy can I tell you that I absolutely love reading this series. It is adventurous and keeps you on the edge of your seat on what is going to happen next. Annie wrote some strong characters from the beginning but in this book you really find out who has the strong leader traits. You will find out what makes a strong leader and if they can handle themselves in difficult situations that could very well be the last. You never know exactly what happens next even if you sit there thinking about what you think will happen next. There is evil in the world where not everyone agrees with each other. You will find out who you can trust and who you can’t. The book starts with an attack from Evan’s own people at a time that should not be spent fighting but should be spent being with family and her

Evan short for Evaneline is a strong, short tempered at times and loyal friend and person. She has seen a lot but she realizes she has been sheltered her whole life until recent events have happened that leaves her guessing who she is and if she will make it in her new role and if she can stop a war that could come or even might actually happen.

West is one of the other main characters. He is badbutt and gorgeous man who would do anything for those he loves including going back to his old ways that he does not want to do anymore. He has chosen a mate but he can’t quite commit all the way or can he.

This read is a must. I was completely captured by the first page in the first book all the way thru book 3. You have to read Rising Ashes to see what happens next in the Ashes to Ashes series.

Seriously, why are there only 5 stars? There needs to be more.

Rising Ashes was everything I hoped for and more for Evan and West. These two deserved an amazing story and Anderson delivered. Their story was filled with love and loss, passion and heartbreak, and unbelievable highs and lows. Every minute of their journey, intense and enthralling.
Anderson writes the most badass heroines I've ever read. They are fierce, loyal, and incredibly powerful. I absolutely love reading about these women. And for all the alpha fans out there, Anderson doesn't disappoint on this front either. She has a way of giving us these unbelievably strong and independent women, but matches them with the perfect mate to compliment their personalities and strength. They become teams that only grow more powerful, even though they are technically somewhat more vulnerable. My favorite part is the mutual respect and admiration they have for one another.
Atop her complex characters and witty dialogue, Anderson weaves together heart racing action, edge-of-your-seat suspense, and a stunning love story spanning decades. She does all of that and makes you truly feel like you're a part of the adventure too. I loved every minute, even the parts that destroyed me.

All hail Queen Evangeline!

As the newly crowned Queen of the Wraith, Evangeline Black must learn who she can and can't trust. Unfortunately for her, she sent away the one man she can literally... trust with her life.

West Carmichael has loved Evan since the moment they met, but he never felt himself worthy of the daughter of the King. He felt the only real place he fit on her life was as her guard.

After years of denying their bond, Evan has enough. To protect her heart, she leaves herself and those in her charge vulnerable to attack by her enemies, both new and old. As news of West and others being held captive reaches tge Queen, Evangeline decides to put her fear of heartbreak aside and save the only man shes ever loved. Will her efforts be in vain? If she gets to West in time, will he set aside his self loathing long enough to allow her entry into his heart?

I keep saying I'm not a fan of paranormal and Annie Anderson keeps proving me wrong. Rising Ashes took me on a fantastical journey filled with intrigue, power struggles, love, lust and heartache. The details and imagination in this story are truly inspired. The Ashes to Ashes series has truly gotten me hooked.

From the fight scenes to the sex scenes and everything in between Rising Ashes is a certain 5 star read.

4.5 stars
Rising Ashes is book three in this series. I would highly recommend reading books one then two before starting this one. There's a lot that happens that leads up to this book, and it's definitely one that's needed to be read in order.
It seems like I've waited a long time for Evan and West's story. When I first met them in book one, I really wasn't sure if there would be a book on them. I'm glad Annie Anderson wrote this one as it's just as action packed as the others. Evan comes from royalty and she takes on a role only she can fill. She does her job as queen well, and does whatever she can to keep her people safe. West is pretty much the opposite from Evan but you can tell he'll do whatever it takes to keep Evan safe. These two have had a rocky relationship for a very long time. They've been through so much and at times I really did feel my heart breaking for them.
Overall, this was a great read. I gave it a 4.5 rating because I really felt towards the ending it was super rushed. The beginning was good, kind of slow, but I wanted a bit more out of the ending. I also felt it wasn't about Evan and West anymore but more focused on the secondary characters. I'm hoping to see more of West and Evan because I didn't feel like their story was over. I would recommend checking this one and this series out. It's one that I'll continue to read if more books are released.

First of all, it’s important that you read the first two books in the Ashes to Ashes series. Each of them ends on a cliff hanger, and the third book continues the story that started in the first book although the main characters are different. I reread the second book before started Rising Ashes because I wanted to make sure I remembered correctly all the many and varied characters. I also loved the paranormal world that Annie Anderson created.
What can I say? Annie Anderson surpassed by expectations. I wouldn’t call it a fast read. Apart from keeping track of who was who and what they could do, I also had to work out who were the ‘bad guys’ and why. Nothing was as it seemed, some characters’ actions surprised me and I had quite a few WTF moments.
Paranormal is my favourite genre and I love to escape to another world. The fact that his world existed within the human world made this series even better, or is that scarier? But even though the characters weren’t human, they became real people who had feelings and fell in love. I fell in love with some of them and I hated others.
Rising Ashes held my attention from the first page until the last. In fact, I was disappointed when I finished it because I didn’t want it to end. I can’t wait to read the fourth book in the Ashes to Ashes series!

Never a dull moment in this series, we pick up right where we left off at Evan’s beloved parents funeral, with an attack by less then happy wraiths. Evan is stricken with grief and anger, and we all know that’s a lethal combination when it comes to our feisty gal, and she sets her sights on controlling and conquering her enemies and followers.

We get an amazing glimpse into the past; back to the first time West sees Evan, and the instant love and devotion he has for her. This man brings me to my knees, and to know what he went through all those years ago, the pain and sorrow he felt due to his father, was absolutely gut wrenching. These characters are breathtaking and brilliant in their own ways, and together they’re the epitome of awesome!

The gang is back together to hunt a mysterious enemy, and the truths that are revealed are tragic and horrifying to say the least. In Annie Anderson fashion, there’s always epic comedic relief from our sassy trio of ladies, Mena, Auri, and Evan. They may face doom and death on a daily basis, but how inspiring are these three? Girl crush…plain and simple!

this book was so well worth waiting for , straight into an attack by rebel wraiths at Evans parents funeral & it never stops the rest of the book . we learn a lot more about West & why he loves Evan but doesn't want to bond with her, old allegiances are tested & new ones formed to hunt a hidden enemy . the past comes back in new forms but still as evil as ever but still got quirky bits of humour among all the tension & sometimes horror . Annie Anderson knows how to hook a reader & keep her up til 4am to find out what happens next . Can't wait for book 4 , Takes a good author to keep a series fresh & new while carrying a thread through all the books in series .

~~I received this in exchange for my honest opinion~~

This is the next installment of the Ashes to Ashes series. I devoured this book. I couldn't get enough. Wes thinks he's doing the right thing by staying away, Evan thinks he's doing this for different reasons. The pull between them is strong. Their chemistry is off the charts and the sex.. whew, hot, steamy, and addictive!! Action, adventure, death, weddings, births, and a surprise that I never saw coming! I know that this is a short review, but if I told you what I really wanted to say i'd give the entire book away. Just trust me when I tell you that you NEED to read this installment!! You will not be disappointed at all!!!

Book three in this series continues smoothly so if you haven't read books one or two, these should be read in order. Our amazing main character has to figure out her new role and take the necessary steps to get things under control. This skilled writer keeps you totally under suspense wondering still if the fated mates would ever be together. This book lacks for nothing. Mystery, suspense, action, paranormals with unique abilities and highly imaginative creative genius that keeps my nose buried in the pages! This voluntary review is based against a backlist copy.

Such a wonderful series!

Rising Ashes picks up were Falling Ashes left off. This book is basically an all out war of good vs evil! All the same players, with a few new additions and revelations. Relationships grow, as does friendship that becomes family. Annie has truly outdone herself bringing all of these characters to life in a world you feel you're living in. You live through every emotion imaginable. It's as action packed as the first two books, with so much more. I'm hoping Book Four is available soon. Once you start reading this series, you can't get enough! 5+ stars!

WOW! WOW! WOW! This book is AMAZING!!! Rising Ashes is West and Evangeline's story. This book is my favorite among the first 2 books in the series. From the start up to the last, I was hooked on this book. Evangeline is a kick-ass heroine! Love her angst. She's my favorite. West, I sometimes want to kick him but as the story goes I got to love him more and more. Rising Ashes is full of action and drama. So love this book!!!! Can't wait what's next for this series! Ms. Annie nailed it!

They just keep getting better!

This book was so good. Each book in the series not only gives a couples storyline but advances the series storyline just the right amount to answer the questions that linger from the previous book, and to raise enough new questions to entice you to continue on. These books are well written and edited. I did recieve for a read / review but would definitely have no problem purchasing outright. Great Book!

Amazing, engaging, fun read!

Annie keeps me on the edge of my seat and cycling through so many emotions with this book series. I honestly get so excited with how the book flows and she does an awesome job ending the current story with promise of more to come! Definitely read this series, but I warn, it's almost impossible to put down once you start.

This is book three in the series. Aurelia and Mena are still in this story but it's mostly about the love of Evangelina Black (the new queen of the wraith) and her guardian West. But don't think Annie just wrote a romance novel. There's some kick ass fighting going on in this book. You won't be able to put it down. I received an advance copy of the book in exchange for an honest review

I freaking loved Evan and West's story! Great paranormal series that gives you a little bit of everything you want: love, lust, steamy scenes, fighting/action and the back story of some of the characters. I love this series and going to start Nicola and Kyle's next. If you love paranormal, you will love this series.

I haven't read the other books in this series, but I most definitely plan to do so. Even without having the benefit of having read books 1 and 2 I still enjoyed the plot, the characters, and the pace of the story. Annie Anderson is a very talented author and I'm happy I discovered her!
