When it comes to love, no one is in charge.

Isabel Chase is reeling. She’s just been offered her dream job as a staff writer on one of the hottest shows on television and quickly trades in the comfort of New England for sun, sand, and everything Hollywood. While stoked for what could be her big break, the show’s stunning executive producer has her head spinning and her feelings swirling.

Taylor Andrews is at the top of her career. Everything she touches turns to gold and the studios know it. Just when she’s on track for total television domination, Isabel Chase arrives in her office and slowly turns her world upside down. Isabel is intelligent, sarcastic, and dammit, downright beautiful. Unfortunately, she’s the one person that can take away all Taylor has worked for.

Will Isabel’s success lead to Taylor’s downfall? Or perhaps Isabel is all she needs…

Melissa Brayden did it again. I found the story line believable & honest. I read it in 2 days as it held my attention until the end.

I love stories set in Hollywood that take the reader behind the scenes. I thought Melissa did a good job of showing what it might be like in a writers room - first working your way into one and then growing your career in the business. Additionally, she continues to show her signature good humor with characters you just have to love - especially show-runner Taylor. Isabel made a questionable choice in this book, but Melissa wrote it in a way that you understood why. I actually appreciated some of the issues Isabel was dealing with - sometimes MCs in romances are a bit too perfect. What I really like about Melissa's work is if you're needing a fun, sweet, sexy escape, she's quite reliable about delivering it. This is the first of the Seven Shores series and I look forward to following the lives of the other characters in upcoming books. Definitely recommend!

***No Synopsis***
Once again, Ms. Brayden has created a whole new world full of intriguing and unique characters that I would like to go out to brunch with. She has a knack for writing strong, and sometimes quirky women who are likable while at the same time far from perfect.
Her world of weekly television production is spot on and she did a great job conveying the crazy pace and demands of that millieu as well as giving the reader a fairly accurate representation of the trendy side of Los Angeles.
Isabel Chase has a wicked sense of humor and her drive and talent are a wonderful juxtaposition with her self-deprecating demeanor, adorable bouts of awkwardness and debilitating anxiety attacks. Taylor Andrews is the quintessential Hollywood power player and while she is a take-no-prisoners executive, she is also warm and respectful with the people she works with and a bit awkward when it comes to the dating scene as well. I think the charisma between the two women radiates off each page and I was pulling for them the whole way.
The plot moves at a great pace with twists and turns that are unexpected and realistic. The break up is timed just right and the make up is slow and sweet.
One of Ms. Brayden's talents is creating a cast of supporting characters who are as interesting and fleshed out as the two leads. She clearly has this set up for at least two or three more books and I can't wait for them.

This was my first Melissa Brayden book (and one of my first romance reads). Oh, what to say about this book?

Well, for starters: it sucked me into the world of reading lesfic romance novels. Isabel Chase is one of the most relatable characters I've ever experienced. From the FIRST moment, when she is angrily singing her way up to her apartment, I am invested in her journey. It's a unique talent of Melissa's, in my opinion: I have not read one of her books where I am not immediately invested in the character from the first moment I meet them.

Still, there was something special about the connection to Isabel. She's so solidly herself when it comes to her personality, while still being intensely insecure about her own abilities (and God, who can't relate to that insecurity?). It made the ride of her and Taylor that much more powerful.

Add in Melissa's incredible ability for memorable phrases, unique characters, a sprinkling of adorable animals, and the gorgeous setting of Venice Beach and LA, you can't really go wrong with this book, and it's a wonderful place to re-visit over and over again.

Can't believe I forgot to leave a review for this one. Love, love Izzy and Taylor as their chemistry just jumps off the page. I also love when Ms. Brayden writes such wonderful supporting characters. Buy this one and the next three books to see all the friends find their
HEA's. My only regret is that this author does not write these wonderful books any faster but excellence takes time!

This book has the best dialogue. It is quick, clever, and funny. I really cared for these characters. They are well written and seem so real. Sometimes, I was unclear as to who it was that was speaking, but that was a minor annoyance. The story, characters, and dialogue definitely carry a high recommendation. It is absolutely worth your time to enjoy.

Sarcastic, unable to see her own worth, troubled, anxious Isabel is about to set forth in a new life as a screen writer for a famous TV show and even more famous Executive Producer. For Isabel the attraction is immediate. Taylor, recently burned by getting involved with someone she works with is trying to talk herself out of the high flying chemistry.
Join Isabel on the rise of her life as she discovers her new job, boss and the trials of getting her wishes come true.
Melissa Brayden has this series of 4 friends, coffee, themed parties and eccentric landlord that you will not want to miss.

I anxiously awaited this books arrival. I have become a big Melissa Brayden fan. Her books stand out as some of the highest quality in this genre. Her talented narration pulls you into her stories and leaves you sad that they must come to an end. I am happy to know that this particular book is the first of a planned series because the cast of characters is so likeable that I can't wait to reunite with them.
A quarter of the way through this story there is a paragraph that reads 'She wasn't aware of Taylor's humor, but then again, her scripts we're laced with tons of it. Made sense that it would transfer to the real-life woman.' My immediate thought was how MB must have a wonderful sense of humor similar to Isabel's since she authored the witty conversations and dry deliveries that were so entertaining throughout this book.
If you don't buy this book, you are missing out.

The character development was so well done. This story pulled you in. By the end you feel like you have a real sense of who these characters are and that they are 3 dimensional, living, breathing individuals. This one is a definite MUST read. I even overlooked the editing issues because the story is just so captivating and feels so alive.

This is a standard working girl meets working girl, they fall in love and live happily after. The difference is the author and writing- Melissa is a fabulous writer and can turn something ordinary into a story you can’t put down and you really feel what the characters are going through.
