Maggie Lydon lives in Ireland on the north side of Dublin. She's a single woman who cleans houses for a living. She tends to keep to herself and is a bit of an introvert. She often feels isolated and invisible to the rest of the world. She goes about her day scraping by and minding her own business. Lately she felt starved for companionship after feeling an intense connection to a stranger on the bus she rides to work. She first noticed him over six months ago. She was intrigued with the way he watched her with those gorgeous eyes, and soon he became the bright spot of her day. She knew nothing about him, but was consumed with thinking about him. She was always so aware of him when he was near, and it excited her.

For months Shay Riordan has wanted to get to know the beautiful, mysterious woman on the bus. There was something unique about her that he was drawn to. He found her fascinating, and was captivated by her stare.

One evening when circumstances cause them to meet, it's a challenge to communicate. They are both quiet types who have been lonely and guarded with their hearts lately. As they get to know one another will they both finally find their happily ever afters?

Quiet Types by L.H. Cosway is the first standalone in the Quiet Love series. It's a heartwarming, emotional, slow burn, strangers to lovers romance about trust, healing and self discovery. It's full of amazing chemistry and beautiful love. <333

I can always count on L.H. Cosway for addictive, authentic, quietly beautiful romance and Quiet Types is no exception. Maggie and Shay captured me from page one and I’ve spent every spare moment lost in their gorgeously written love story.

Quiet Types reminded me of a simple romance. The characters stayed true to themselves and for that, we were given a steady ride of their journey.

Maggie Lydon rides the bus to her cleaning job every day and because of those trips, she sees a man that intrigues her. Shay is quiet and keeps to himself but he's always watching her. After finding the courage to strike up a conversation, Maggie learns that Shay is mute. With each passing day on their bus route, Shay and Maggie developed a deep friendship that even with silence, was louder than anything.

I truly enjoyed the beginning of this story. The characters were tip toeing around each other in a sense and I didn't know where it was going to lead to. After reading a few chapters, I quickly realized that this was a slow and steady read but I still felt the anticipation of something MORE. I practically craved it and when that didn't happen, I was disappointed. Don't get me wrong, I liked the characters and the family dynamic but after a while, it became boring. There were no gasp worthy moments that made me want to flip through the pages at warped speed and I felt like I was just reading about someone's day to day life.

Despite thinking that this story was going to be more, this book was the epitome of a truly sweet romance. Straight-forward with the main characters go from getting to know each other one day at a time, to becoming a huge part of each other's inner circle and falling in love. If you're looking for a sweet romance with lovable characters, then this one's for you.

In Quiet Types, Maggie Lydon’s routine bus rides take an unexpected turn when she notices Shay Riordan, a mysterious stranger who seems intrigued by her presence. Despite their lack of communication, a twist of fate brings them together, sparking a connection that transforms both their lives.

What stands out in the book are the characters of Maggie and Shay. They're easy to like, and their chemistry keeps you rooting for their romance. While the story holds your interest, it does feel a bit like a slow burn. You keep waiting for that extra excitement to kick in, but it remains a gentle ride throughout.

Nevertheless, Quiet Types delivers a sweet love story. Maggie and Shay both have their struggles, and seeing them help each other through it is heartwarming. It’s a cute, feel-good read that reminds you of the power of love and companionship. Overall, Quiet Types might not be the most thrilling romance out there, but if you're in the mood for something cozy and heartfelt, it's worth a read.

I’ve been a huge fan of Cosway since the beginning. While I enjoyed this book I will admit it wasn’t my favorite by her. Still, these characters hold a special place in my heart and will be living in my head rent free for a while.

Let’s talk about the plot. I liked the premise of this story because it gave me Archer’s Voice by Mia Sheridan vibes, but that is where it ended. This was a story of its own and not like any story I’ve read.

We follow Shay who is mute and Maggie who is a maid. They both take the same bus to and from work everyday, but for what feels like forever they have just been stealing glances at each other. That is until one day Shay gets in between Maggie and an angry man, and it’s history from there. These characters both struggle through issues with themselves and in the relationship, but the love is always there.

Shay was so adorable. I need a Shay in my life. He is caring, kind, brave, and basically a giant teddy bear. Family is important to him, which is something he shares with Maggie.

Maggie has had a rough go at life, but she is making the best of a bad situation. She stays positive and finds friends everywhere she goes. I liked how she grew in this story to have a backbone and find her way in life.

Let’s talk about a couple things I didn’t particularly like in this story, which lead to the 3.5 stars. (Don’t worry, they are spoiler free)

1. There were a couple plot twists that had me gasping, but later I looked back and decided they were too out of the blue and maybe a bit too much for one story… the jury is still out on that last one.

2. The opposite of my last comment, there were a couple things I saw coming. But that didn’t take away too much. I was just like “ok yeah. Called that. A bit of a cliche but ok.”

3. I wanted more with the Johnathan situation. I’ll leave it at that.

Overall, this is yet another lovely book by the Miss Cosway. I’m really looking forward to the next installment in this standalone series where we see Rhys!

I just love how LH Cosway always manages to write characters that are quirky, different, or just not the “norm” (or how the norm is portrayed in other books anyway!). They always have their unique challenges, but demonstrate grit and determination. Her characters are always ones I can admire.
Quiet Types did not disappoint and Maggie and Shay had all those qualities and more. The slow burn romance was sweet with some steamy scenes, and they had a lot of chemistry. I enjoyed seeing Maggie grow and come out of her shell, and I adored Shay and his family (his Dad was the sweetest!). Definitely recommend to anyone who enjoys contemporary romance.

I haven't been so excited about the premise of a book for a long time. A man besotted with a woman he only sees in the morning bus ride, but he's mute and doesn't dare approach her. Until one day changes everything. The drama!

I couldn't wait to see what would unfold between Maggie and Shay.

Now that I've sated the need, I can tell you this: it's a really romantic story. Pure romance.

It's a slow-burn, romantic, sensitive and sweet story between two damaged people who still make the best of their circumstances and yearn for love.

It is set in Dublin, so I enjoyed myself even more with the touches of life there, the comforting everyday tea and even the mention of digestive biscuits! Lovely :-)

Maggie is that kind of woman who has endured untold injustices but perseveres with inner strength and goodness. I think I liked everything about her. Even her self-doubt and apparent meekness are rooted in endearing reasons to love her. She grows so much throughout the book and opens up like a flower. And the sun that helps with that beautiful arc is Shay. Oh, a man with no words and deep, strong, protective feelings. He is the perfect real man because he's got a pain of his own, he's not a saint, yet he is tender, thoughtful, handsome and a gentleman when it comes to his Maggie, the woman who has caught his heart on the bus every morning.
I think the way this couple's relationship evolves is adorably sweet and simmering. They really get to know each other in small, tentative steps that allow their feelings to grow and settle into something real and durable. That doesn't mean there's no room for passion and ecstasy. There is!

I loved the tenderness of their conversations, how they coped with the difficulties in communication, how they adapted to each other's needs out of understanding and love. It's very pretty and heart-warming.

Their story is also about family and friendship, trust and loyalty, reconciling with the past and allowing hope and new chances to fly their way back into one's life, even toxic bonds and how they affect one's self-worth. I enjoyed the scenes and the important impact of other characters like friends and family and neighbours.

It is a long story with a cosy narrative style that feels like living a life alongside the characters. The two big plot twists are intense, especially one that left me reeling. Very satisfying.

This was such a beautiful and refreshing story. So many books I read are full of so much angst and unnecessary drama that reading a straightforward (though still special) tale of two people finding each other and falling in love was like a breath of fresh air. Both Shay and Maggie had obstacles to overcome but their journey to shared happiness was an absolute delight to read.

This sweet romance can be read in a cozy place, alone, with a cup of tea or coffee. As the heroine listens to her audiobooks.
I love LH Cosway's novels for many reasons. Her characters are varied, but all have a beautiful kindness of soul. They are realistic but make you dream. The writing is tinged with a sensitivity that reaches your heart. There is so much sweetness and love in her stories. Quiet Types is no exception.
I immediately loved Maggie and Shay. Maggie is a lonely, hurting soul that no one sees. Or at least that's what she thinks. Her past broke my heart and made her even more admirable to me. She did not fall into bitterness or depression, she overcame everything like a champion, and despite her education, she became a generous and loving woman who takes care of her half brothers and half sisters. I love the relationship she has with them. Even though being invisible has its advantages, like everyone else, she wants to be seen. And she is. By Shay, this stranger who takes the same bus as her every day.
I loved this starting point between the protagonists. The fact that they have been looking at each other and searching for each other for months, making these moments the best of their days. When they finally officially get to know each other, communication is difficult. Shay is mute, Maggie doesn't speak sign language. There is something so beautiful, so innocent, about the way they learn to communicate. The silence disappears between these two discreet beings who have spotted each other in the middle of a crowd where no one else was paying attention to them.
Shay has an amazing family (especially his wonderful grandfather) but he knows how it feels when people don't look at you. The author describes his daily life in a very interesting way but without falling into pathos.
They learn to communicate in every possible way and know how to support and push each other to get more out of their lives. These two characters may seem ordinary but are exceptional, courageous, and their love is pure and immense. This story is extremely romantic and it's a real slow burn that will give you butterflies in your stomach.
Thank you LH Cosway for the ARC.

Oh I loved it ! Fantastic characters, full of depth and charm. This was a love story that mad my heart hum with happiness. There were some dark painful moments but this wonderful author pulled them out and stood them up for better days ahead.
Shay Riordan and Maggie Lydon traveled on the bus everyday never speaking. Each noticing the other, neither going beyond stares till something happened. Shay is a quiet man, he lost his voice as a child, this left him feeling unexpected by society. Maggie lost her mother and father and grew up in an unloving relative's home. They both feel like outcasts, and people are not kind.
When they finally start communicating and exploring each other it's a slow hot fire building. The side characters bring so much into the story and I adored them all. His father most of all. Gods he's a dream ! The twists that come along are WOW worthy and I'm sure will lead to another great read :D
Don't miss this book, or this author if you like happy romantic stories with really good people.

That’s it, that’s my love language!!
This book was truly a quiet type of love. You are captivated from the beginning with each stolen glance. The misunderstandings were frustrating but how they honestly understood each other deeply was beautiful. I enjoyed Maggie and Shay’s journey of learning different ways to communicate against several odds. I loved how they both had something to overcome. They were both so patient and understanding and where someone else may not have wanted to put in the effort they knew it was worth any connection they may have. Genuinely a couple you root for from start to finish.

This is the book I want to read on a rainy day when I’m alone at home and I have the whole day to read. This is now my comfort book.

Maggie deserves the best life and I trust Shay to give that to her. She found it so hard to believe that anyone would take care of her or take her side and Shay really earned her trust.

Shay wanted a partner he could trust, someone to be his equal. I loved that he found someone that went that extra mile for him. The epilogue was beautiful. It just filled my heart with such joy and peace.

Tropes: slow burn, strangers to lovers, mute hero, healing journey, protective mmc

A slow burn story that captivated me from the first page. I liked that the story is very realistic and shows ordinary people who have their own dreams and hopes. People who have some of their own flaws that make them special and wonderful. Wonderful chemistry between the main characters, sincere and unconditional love, ups and downs, tears, laughter,... In one word - real life ( that was two words 😊)

Shay is ♥️

It's not often that I read a story that draws me in like Quiet Types did. It's honest and real. There is no billionaire to sweep her off her feet, no head of the Mafia or footballer to rescue her. Shay is unassuming, a character who draws you in with his compassion, his emotive expressions and his dogged determination to protect and love Maggie.

And as for Maggie, she has had a hard run in life, it hasn't been easy for her, but she is a survivor. Her inner strength and love for her half siblings, for those she cares about. She isn't the strongest female character I have ever read but her vulnerability is certainly what endeared her to me.

This is a love story, no fancy words needed. It's beautiful, it's raw but it's ensconced in a real setting. Shay and Maggie aren't so different after all, and I love the evolvement of their relationship. This one had me grinning at their sweet interactions.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I cannot wait to read more in this series! Looking forward to Rhys and Charli's story.

This was a really sweet and simple love story. Shay and Maggie have been riding the bus together for months, always watching and aware of each other. After months of wondering about the tall, handsome man who gets on and off at her stop, Maggie knows she wants to know more about this man when he scares off a drunk man on the bus who was harassing her. Although it deals with some heavy topics, it doesn’t feel like you’re dragged down by all of the drama throughout the book. Rather, Shay and Maggie help lift each other up even through the darkest moments. Overall this was a sweet story and a nice easy read!

Well written character driven romance, which I love. Not many authors do this well, for one thing it's hard for authors to manipulate a character driven story, if you do, it just goes wonky and the reader recognizes this. Writing like this takes skill bc you don't have fake drama that you can fill pages with. When you let the characters speak through you (and you can write, lol) the story ebbs and flows, becomes real life to the reader. It's so satisfying when you close that book,(metaphorically speaking, these days) it's only a feeling a good book can give. It's like art, you know it when you feel it.

Another talent she has: Her H & h's are never the same. They're always different individuals with different personalities, book to book. That is such treat, a pleasure. I've loved some more than others (Freda and Nicholas & Shane and Jade (ah, my bluebird, if Ms. Cosway ever reads this ~ I'd pay you in reader worship if you'd write a bit of an epilogue in Shanes pov, you don't have to go all Killer Queen, but maybe 50~100 pages? Pretty please? Sorry about the parenthesis within parenthesis, I hate it, too. ;)) but they're all different. That's how you know she's letting the folks who live in her head tell their story, not shoving words on paper.

Anywho, can you guess I like her books? I need to go through and update my bookshelves, bc I think I'v read all of her books, just lazy with the reviews. And, no, I'm not apologizing for my grammar or misspelled words ~ I'm in a hurry, I just baked a cheesecake, my first and I'm anxious to see how it turned out. It's got sugar in it, can't be that bad.

Quietly Grabs You!

Maggie Lydon and Shay Riordan are quietly minding their business while riding on a bus going about their daily lives. Why would a book about them, watching each other, grab your attention and keep it?

As usual, L. H. Cosway writes about two ordinary, but somewhat quirky people, and immediately grabs your attention. Maggie and Shay seemingly live solitary and lonely lives. However their quietness hides very loving and strong indiviuals. Shay is a a very courageous man who has a very loving and giving family. Maggie is not as meek as she appears and we watch as she stands up for others and finally for herself. It is amazing to watch as she loves and helps her younger siblings.

It was very interesting to watch Shay and Maggie grow as their love and desire for each other increased. There was nothing "slow burn" about their feelings for each other. No, they didn't immediately fall into bed, yet you felt their simmering attraction. Their back stories were realistic even though heartwrenching. The other characters in both their lives were lovable, endearing and believable.

As usual with books by L. H. Cosway, I couldn't put this one down until I finished it. Though this book was very satisfying, I can't wait to read the next book in this series.

ARC Review: Quiet Types

What a lovely, lovely read. Quiet Types weaves a love story that is so tangible, so inspiring, so real.

Maggie and Shay are incredible leads. They both lead very normal, quiet lives, but their connection is immediate and so incredibly special.

I was captivated in the clever ways the author established the communication lines between our leads, and how it evolved over the course of the story. The way they came to understand one another, without letting words stand in the way, was a feat of true beauty. For Maggie especially, learning Shay was mute further motivated her to attend her literacy classes. I really admired how she made choices to grow in confidence, personal skill and ability. Both characters had inspiring arcs, and the way they intertwined had me smiling and blushing all at once.

It’s a gorgeous romance and an awe-inspiring journey of personal growth.

My qualms are minor and non-consequential to my overall enjoyment of the book. Nevertheless, to elaborate:
I do realize this will be a series of interconnecting standalone, but considering this book on its own, I felt there were just a couple of loose ends that were just a tiny bit too loose. To avoid spoilers, I will only mention that the resolution of a minor character, intricately tied to a supporting character (who is set up for the next book) felt very incomplete (to me) as I expected pay off within this story. I thought she would either be revealed as ableist or as in love with Shay. Instead the character simply fades out of the story. I also was not overly satisfied with the resolution related to the reveal pertaining to a minor character tied to Maggie, I would have really enjoyed that further developed.

Neither of the above were distractions to my overall enjoyment of this fantastically written work.

Maggie and Shay won me over the instant they both appeared on the page. I loved how extraordinary their ordinariness was. They are you and me, just regular folks, on regular walks on life who happen to intersect one day and fall in love.

And, oh my, what a beautiful love story it was.

Thank you Grey’s Promotions for providing me an aARC, I leave this honest review voluntarily.

This is such a simple, gentle story and yet I was absolutely captivated from the very first page. The characters are so genuine, they are normal everyday people going about their business and just trying to make a decent life for themselves. From the outside they would both appear to be quiet and unassuming, you perhaps wouldn’t give either of them a second glance and in our busy self absorbed society today it’s sad to think we take very little notice of our fellow neighbour, colleague or bus companion.

I loved how this author has taken these two characters who are reserved and have their own life challenges and brought them together…their slow burn as they observed each other on their daily commute to the gentle and sensitive way their friendship built and their reliance and love for each other grew.

It’s just a really beautiful love story bringing two people so deserving of happiness together…the character development, the observations of human nature and the sensitivity to both of them is so wonderfully captured by Ms Cosway that I was totally invested in both Maggie and Shay making it hard to leave them.
I can’t wait to get back to this world of characters with the next story!

Title: Quiet Types
Author: L.H. Cosway
Series: Quiet Love Series, Book 1
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Basic Plot: Two people have been taking the same bus for months and are both taken with each other, and this is the story of how they come to be, as friends and as a couple.

Take away & Reflections: This was a beautifully quiet romance. It was cozy and heartwarming, I found myself smiling at some points and tearing up at others. When I say it was a quiet romance, I mean it in the best way possible, this book was a pleasure to read and kept my rapt attention and I finished this book in one sitting, but it was kind of like reading a hug. Cosway is able to write a compelling story about quiet people and their quiet love, with a twist that got me while still fitting into the story perfectly. She is also amazing at building a world full of interesting people who I'm excited read stories about too.

Favorite Quote: "We were just two people sharing journeys. Nothing complicated, just company, yet it was the most exciting thing that had happened to me in years."

I absolutely loved and adored this book. Wonderful characters and amazing plot. Very beautifully written and easy to read.

This unconventional love story is a slow burn, comfort read. Shay is a mute man in his 30s. After a bad breakup he kinda fell in a depression. His cousin got him a new gob as a security at the hotel. He rides a bus to and from work almost every day, and he’s been fascinated by a woman who has also been riding it for a long time.

Maggie is a kind and lonely housekeeper. She has a complicated past. She has four half-siblings who she loves very much. Maggie noticed Shay during her bus ride and she has been aware of him ever since. She was curious about him. After an accident in the bus they started talking and getting to know each other.

They fit together perfectly. He is very patient towards her. She has difficulty trusting and letting people in. He, too was burned in the past. They navigate their growing feelings towards one another very mature and understanding. Shay’s father is a delight. And I’m excited to read Rhys’s, Shay’s cousin, story next.

Overall I loved this book very much. If you’re a fan of slow burn romance then you’re going to enjoy it.

Quiet Types was an interesting read. And even though I hate using the word “interesting”, —because people usually use it to describe things they don’t like but they don’t want to offend the owner—I can’t find a better fitting word for this book.
I never read a story, in which one of main character is mute, so I soaked up every detail about it. Also, let me chance a risk of sounding very cheesy, but this book made my brain quiet.
Usually when reading, my mind is chasing, trying to figure out if I would act similar like the characters, if I would hate/love someone who did the same thing like the characters etc… Not this time. Pure calmness washed over me and put me in some kind of trance and before I knew it, the epilogue came and I was sad to leave these characters’ world.

Only one thing bothered me , but not enough to lower my enjoyment of the book.

I received a free copy of this book and gave it an honest review.

I really liked it! I found the story endearing and charming (especially because of Shay). Sweet, with simple everyday obstacles that are not the most thought of. In life and books, the characters tend to always have problems communicating, even when they can. For these characters, it's different. The act of communicating is more complicated, but they want to do it.
Insecurities and disadvantages play a huge role in this story. They have both been removed from social encounters for so long that their attraction and exchanges feel almost innocent. It's why I would consider this story a slow burn with minimal drama. And why I give it 4.5 stars. I wasn't able to relate fully to Maggie due to her second guessing her worth so often. But I still admired Maggie’s honesty and perseverance. I thoroughly enjoyed how unique this book feels.

Quiet Types is the first book in the Quiet Love series by L. H. Cosway. This is the first book I've ever read by this author, and it will definitely not be my last! Set in Dublin, Ireland, I loved the absolute realness of the whole story. It was so heartfelt, realistic, and very believable in the real world. Although it's a slow-burn, once Maggie and Shay got intimate, it was like an explosion of feelings. Shay was mute and Maggie was dyslexic, but they learned how to communicate with each other, and I loved that part of the story. Such a beautiful love story that flowed very naturally. I can't wait for Rhys and Charli's story, but in the meantime, this one is highly recommended with more than five stars!
