5. I do not, under any circumstances, read directions. Who has time for that? Making mac & cheese by the seat of my pants for the last 25 years.

6. Like a black-out drunk, I have lost hours of my life mysteriously to Pinterest. If you haven't tried it yet... don't. Save your self.

7. Before I became a mother, lots of things grossed me out. Now nothing does.

8. My favorite food is food... my least favorite food is no food. I love food. (apply the same rule to wine)

9. I do not have a green thumb. I have the kind of thumb that kills any type of plant ever given to me. Whatever kind of thumb that is... I have it.

10. Writing has changed my life. Not just the career it's created but the way I feel when I write. If you have something you love to do I hope you get the opportunity to do it.

First off ---- WARNING for anyone who has dealt with domestic abuse, this may be hard to read. It certainly was hard to read. I had to take breaks and come back to it multiple times. That said, there is some healing in the book that really helps heal some of the internal wounds. The writing is amazing. If you haven't read the other books, you can read this one alone - but there are a few references to the other stories. Very well done and enjoyed

The characters were generally familiar from the previous titles but there was little additional character development as well as an underdeveloped effort of getting to a serious relationship. And the ending was just aborted. Hoping for a better read in the next book.

Brian was the most undefined O’Malley. His personality hadn’t been explored in previous books. I really like him. He’s a tough guy without being alpha and shows sensitivity and kindness. Carmen was multi-layered. The things she endured and her mission, were admirable and yet dangerous (mentally and physically). This was a must read but it does dwell on very sensitive matters - abuse.
Can’t wait for series to continue with Nicky, Ben & Loch.

This story delves into the signs of an abusive relationship & it’s aftermath. Carmen escaped such a relationship & wants to do more to help others escape them. Brian just wants to protect her. Great story!
