About this ebook

Kerrigan Belmond has everything I don’t have. A name that opens doors, more money than god, an Oxford education, and rumors that she’s caught the eye of Spencer Byrd, the heir to one of England’s most powerful aristocratic families. I’m an orphan, running from a tragedy I can’t face. Being mistaken for her is flattering until her father arrives at my door with an indecent proposal.

His daughter has fled her perfect life, and he wants me to step into her shoes until she can be coaxed back to her pedestal.

The arrangement is simple. For one year, I will be Kerrigan Belmond. The perfect daughter. The charming socialite. The ideal future wife. For one year, I will do anything she would do. And for one year, I will keep the attention of Spencer at all costs.

I can’t say no, but as soon as I meet Spencer and his brother I realize the mistake I’ve made. To the outside world, the Byrds are London society and Spencer is the golden boy groomed to become prime minister. Behind closed doors, his family is as twisted and tangled as the web I’m walking into.

Spencer demands loyalty. He expects discretion. And he’s ready to claim the woman he’s been promised in every way. Keeping him happy means I might lose more than a year of my life, but I can’t turn down the proposition. Not with what the Belmonds have promised me in return.

They say everyone has a price. I know mine.

Ten million pounds.

What is this author doing to me, lol. This book was too short for what it was. There was definitely space to fill in some background details. Be warned, when ever this author writes a trilogy, which London Dynasty is the start of, there will be a cliffhanger. The cliffhanger is small and the 2nd book is due out end of July. The story starts off really strong, Kate is approached by Kerrigan’s father to be Kerrigan for one year, and Kate asks all the right questions before deciding. On her way to Kerrigan’s home and up to a certain point there doesn’t seem to be any real prep work by Kate or anyone else in on the secret, learning how to be Kerrigan. Nothing really leads to believe any real prep was done. While they might look alike, no way is poor Kate is going to be able to pull off being a well educated socialite without some sort of mini boot camp. For as invested in this as Kerrigan’s father is, you would think he would be a little more active. While there doesn’t seem a lot of character building at this point (remember it’s a trilogy and a shorter book), once you get to the party scene all these little plot twists start popping up, questions are asked, you’ll question who is or isn’t a villain, and then that little cliff at the end...oh my.

A slow build explosive romance Kate, a pub waitress, is mistaken for a socialite and is wondering why people would think such a thing. As the story progresses an offer is made, a counter offer occurs, and getting to caught up in the fantasy could lead to heartbreak for all arties. Geneva Lee started her Dynasties series with a slow build explosive romance with situations that could cause a serious backfire for all parties. Geneva Lee took the time to make sure the characters developed organically for the reader as they travel along with Kate on her fantastical journey. I received a free copy of the book from the author. I had the opportunity to review or not.

Geneva Lee sure knows how to deliver a world of rich and powerful people where lust, love, passion and everything comes together. London Dynasty is full of sharp twists and nuclear hot chemistry. It kept me on the edge and left me asking me more. This story is told from Kate's POV. This is the world of wealth and power and social positions are everything. Every person is a pawn in a bigger game. Two families are eager to be united for money and power but no one is worried about Spencer and Kate's feelings. Kate is a simple and kind girl and I would say she faced the challenges quiet well. On the other hand, I am completely obsessed with Spencer. From my previous reading experience, I know the author writes some wicked alpha heroes and she didn't disappoint me at all. He has a dark and edgy vibe. Arrogant. Bossy. He can be light and witty but I am here for his dangerous personality. ( I reviewed an early copy voluntarily)
