One mod and it’s perfect!
I have purchased several of these stands as the posi-lock feature is great and the arm is perfect to reach out at a distance. Of course like others, using a heavy condenser mic caused it to be unstable due to the weight and leverage/cantilever.Simple solution: bought a 5 lb cast iron weight (1” hole smooth sides), some 15mm rare earth magnets and adhesive back felt cloth. Remove the rubber feet and put one layer of felt on mic stand bottom (cut round with scissors). Also add felt to one side of the 5 lb weight. Place 5-7 magnets on the weight opposite felt and then attach base to magnets. It’s sturdy and doesn’t tip at any angle. Works with the heil PR40 or MXL 990 perfectly. Extremely stable and it’s about a $12 mod.
