This is one of the best stands that I have seen. Very good construction, welded joints, heavy grade metal construction not just stamped sheet metal or wire/tubes that slide into position. Can also be adjusted to many different positions unlike many different stands out there that only have one position. Compared to many other stands it is very stable. The laptop and stand rest on rubber feat to keep the laptop and stand stable and stop things from slipping around. Easy to transport as it collapses flat and comes with a storage bag for transporting to your next gig.

Haven't Found One Better

I've had the older pro version of this stand for a few years. As I recall, I paid about twice the current price of this stand for the pro version when I bought it. I've retired that one (from dj'ing) to desk duty elevating my laptop for airflow/cooling purposes, partly because it's lost some of its grip/rigidity. I tried the well-reviewed fold-up Hercules and didn't like it at all, so I returned it. I actually think the Crane Plus is better than the pro (even when it was new). It's heavier-duty (steel vs. aluminum) and very rigid/stable, even in the "C" position, which I prefer to the "Z" position because I don't have to bend over as much to see the screen. I put some 1/2" tall rubber feet on my Traktor S4 Mk2 to elevate it over the center strut in the "C" position and it works great. It's a solid piece of equipment, competitively priced.

I REALLY want to be able to give this 5 stars. But sadly can't.

Within 15 mins of opening it, I was trying to get the height adjusted and one of the large bolts popped off. Apparently it had stripped out from the inside and was no longer usable. I'm headed to the hardware store soon to find something stronger to replace it.

The overall product is really great, so I don't want to return it. It seems extremely durable (minus the bolt) and it's exactly what I need. I also don't trust the bolts they supplied enough to ask for a replacement, so I'll just go with something stronger.

Aside from that small (but very important) problem, this thing seems built to last.

I am a professional DJ and get tons of use from this stand. It functions exactly like the pro model. The only difference is the materials and the weight. Compared to the pro this is a little heavier...or as I like to call it, "sturdier." Came with a nylon bag but that has since ripped in the several months I've been using it.
In this industry equipment isn't cheap, so you need to try and save where you can. This stand definitely helps you to get the function of the crane pro without picking up a couple extra gigs just to afford it!
If you don't mind the extra weight this is a great addition to your gear collection!

Good, but inferior to the original

I have an original Crane Stand Pro from 2012. It's made of aluminum, and the spear tension levers still work as designed, having been through probably a couple hundred gigs. The welds are rock solid, and the stand has never collapsed on me or otherwise let me down, figuratively or literally.

These new, cheaper Crane stands are heavier, made of powder-coated steel. The welds aren't as neat, and the tension levers are clearly inferior. They don't tighten as well as the originals, and reading the reviews here, you will see that they are prone to failing at inopportune times. However, the form factor of the Crane stand is superior to many other laptop stands, with either the Z shape or the parallelogram shape to hold your laptop over your controller or workspace.

I got tired of breaking down my original Crane Stand Pro every time I went to a gig, and after getting both a weekly and monthly gig I decided to get another one that I could leave standing at home. Since I'm not breaking it down all the time, I got this cheaper model and I use my more expensive legacy Crane Stand Pro in my road kit. For those purposes, it works out fine. But if I have to replace my old Pro, I'm going to hunt down another new old stock Pro from ten years ago or figure out if Crane is still making them, rather than use this one on the road.
