I think most serious music fans would consider Pink Floyd one of the Top 5 British Bands of all time, so to say that this album is their greatest acheivement should not be done so lightly. However, it is quite simply Pink Floyd's most complete and balanced effort.
Pink Floyd was at a musical crossroads at the time of this album's completion; they had just come off of the success of 'Meddle', and had completed a surprisingly good soundtrack entitled 'Obscured By Clouds'. Still, Pink Floyd did not have a definitive sound in the post-Barret era, having moved away from exceedingly experimental works like Ummagumma and Atom Heart Mother (both great albums in their own right) into slightly more grounded territory (subjectively speaking). With 'Meddle', the 20+ minute mind-bender 'Echoes' provided a launching point, the beginning of a new Pink Floyd sound which would become instantly recognizeable in the coming years. This manifestation of Floyd moved ever further from Barret's tendencies and more towards the influence of Waters and Gilmour.
But what really sets this album apart from their later projects is the artistic balance the bandmembers were able to achieve. Waters wrote all of the lyrics and came up with the concept for Dark Side; Gilmour wrote much of the music, and created some of the most memorable guitar licks of the era. Wright orchestrated much of the more symphonic works (especially notable with Great Gig in the Sky) while adding outstanding keyboard accompaniment (see Any Colour You Like), and as always, Mason paced the whole show with the right amount of restraint and spacing necessary for a moderate-to-slow paced album such as this, while adding his expertise as a sound-effects guru (most notably with On the Run). In the follow-up albums, Waters exerts more and more control, eventually dominating Floyd's music to such an extent that it eventually caused the band's demise following the Final Cut.
The amazing thing about this album is the way many genres are touched upon, while all still exhibiting the now classic "Floydian" sound; they touch on blues-rock with 'Money', psychedelic R&B with 'Great Gig in the Sky', prototypical electronica with 'On the Run', straight ahead rockers like 'Time', and more classically rooted compositions like 'Eclipse' and 'Us and Them' and even low-key funk-rock with 'Breathe'. And yet in spite of these sometimes divergent genres, it is all easily distinguishable as Floyd from the first note.
Another aspect of this album that stands out from its predecessors is the obvious jump in musicianship; the level of perfection in each note is unmatched in their earlier works, and is only rivalled, not surpassed with later entries. Add to this the easily-identified-with thematic material concerning Life, Death, Madness, Money and the Unknown, and you have an immortal album.
Generations of fans come and go, but just about every serious music-lover has purchased a copy of this. I recommend this album to anyone and everyone. It should be heard at least once while you're here. Wish You Were Here, Animals and the Wall are all essential as well, but none are at the same level. You owe it to yourself to purchase this if you have not heard this album yet.

2016 is Version 1.0, it is not Remastered! This is the Raw 5.1 recorded final Version!
OK!! OK!!! FOR THE RECORD! EVERY SINGLE TIME YOU HAVE HEARD DARK SIDE OF THE MOON IN YOUR LIVES IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN FROM STUDIO VERSION EDITION 4.0!! IN 2016 AND ONLY 2016 THEY RELEASED STUDIO VERSION 1.0 WHY IS THIS SIGNIFICANT? ITS THE ONLY TIME WE GET TO HEAR THIS ALBUM IN TRUE 5.1 RECORDING! THIS MEANS 5 SPEAKERS IN A STUDIO SET UP IN A CIRCLE WITH 1 MASTER MICROPHONE RECORDING THE ALBUM THEY THEN TAKE AND DO WHAT THEY DO TO IT! SO WHAT YOU GET TO HEAR IS MORE NOTES YOU HAVE NEVER HEARD! MORE BACKGROUND BANTER AND MORE ANSWERED QUESTIONS THEN YOU HAVE EVER HEARD! IT IS A MUST LISTEN FOR ANY AND ALL FLOYD FANS! AND MOST IMPORTANTLY! IT WAS ONLY RELEASED ON VINYL! NO OTHER FORM OF LICENSED MEDIA EXISTS FROM PINK FLOYD WITH VERSION 1.0 ON IT! EVERYTHING I JUST TOLD YOU IS EXACTLY WORD FOR WORD OUT OF DAVIDS MOUTH SO TRUST ME ON THIS! THERE ARE WAY TO MANY IGNORANT PEOPLE ON HERE CLAIMING THE WRONG INFORMATION BECAUSE THEY JUST DONT KNOW BETTER
Thank you for your feedback

I treated myself to this record along with King Crimson's debut(that sounds AMAZING btw but that's another review) after my tax return came in. The packaging on this 180 gram vinyl is truly superb; all true to the original release as I understand and includes an additional poster and MP3 download. There may be a hint of digital mastering, but there is still enough original analog sound to stimulate your ears(GREAT headphone listen). There is only one gripe I have with the whole thing; this weird noise that occurs for the first 5 or so minutes on each side. Reviews for this release say it is "noisy" and I assume this is what they're talking about. But it is NOT surface noise...it is very strange; it's like a little semi-rhythmic tick in the right channel and it is very noticeable during the pulsating opening. No other record I have(new or old/inherited) does anything remotely like this. However, by the time "On the Run" is in full swing, it's not even there and then the rest of side A is completely free of it. The beginning of Side B also has it, but it not nearly as noticeable, as you cannot hear it at all during most of "Money". The only time you can slightly hear it again is the very beginning of "Us and Them". Once again, the rest of the record is free of it after that. Compare the final pulsating beats with the first on the album and it's like "Why doesn't the beginning of the record sound like this?" Other than that, this is a solid release and an awesome experience for a "Millennial" such as myself who grew up in the age of Walkman and other whatnot.

Its Pink Floyd so you really can't go wrong! Dark Side of the Moon is one of mine and my husbands favorite albums, though all of their stuff is great! I bought this as an anniversary gift for him and he loves it! I was pleasantly surprised by the fact that it came with stickers and posters, it may say so in the description.. I didn't bother reading it before the purchase. I would recommend this to anyone! The price is decent considering most Pink Floyd vinyls are thru the roof! It arrived on time, and in perfect condition!

It's Dark Side of the Moon. Not much you can say other than it's an amazing album. I am by no means an "audiophile", but enjoy the sound of vinyl, and this one seems to sound amazing to me. My sons' both love Pink Floyd as well, so this gets in our rotation quiet often.

This completly blew my mind, bought it for a friend of mine and had no idea how good this production was. First, it was a heavy vinal, 180 gram weight, plus all the posters and artwork. If your into vinals or just like pink floyd this is a must have. I liked it so much I am thinking of buying it for myself.
packaging was very good, fast delivery.
FAR EXCEEDED MY EXPECTATIONS!!!!!!
