Product Description

In 1995, Lyman introduced a new version of the No. 2 Tang Sight for Marlin Models 336, 1894, 1895 and 30 series lever action rifles. The Marlin version features a special adapter base which allows mounting of the sight on the tang without damaging the serial number. All steel, this sight features height index marks on the aperture post and an . 800 maximum elevation adjustment. Also included is a . 093 x 1/2” quick-sighting aperture and . 040 x 5/8” target disk. Mounting screws and instructions are included.

Because of vision problems I found it difficult to use iron sights so I decided to try a Tang Sight. I was bidding for this same Tang Sight on ebay, but the price got too high. So I turned to Amazon, where I found just the sight I wanted for a good price. The sight was exactly what I expected; it is elevation adjustable, easily installed and of good quality. Delivery was prompt even though I didn't opt for the express service. Within an hour of receiving my Tang Sight it was installed and I was able to go out and sight in my rifle. I am extremely pleased with my purchase. I can now just line my front sight up with the target and it has made it so much easier for me to hit the targets in my Cowboy Action Shooting hobby. I would strongly recommend this Tang Sight for anyone who experiences sighting difficulty due to age related vision problems.

If you like open sights but your eyes have trouble focusing on the back sight, front sight and target at the same time then this sight is an excellent answer to this problem. I experienced this problem after turning 55. I did not trust a pep sight to give me the accuracy I wanted but it does! It was a great move away from open sights to the pep. I did need to do some gunsmithing for a proper mount on a Marlin 1894. Two holes are necessary on the tang where this Marlin only has one.

Good thing i had a great gunsmith, he was able to do the necessary modifications to make this sight work. Sense the sight was ordered for a Marlin Mod 1895 which is what the sight was designed for I am disappointed.

Greatly improved sight radius (over 33 on my rifle) and inherent accuracy on my 1895 CB (.45-70), was relatively easy to install, though it required a couple of thin aluminum shims on one side to get the sight plumbed to the action. I like that it comes with two apertures, I like that it comes with the extra adapter plate. I don't like that the sight gets knocked back when cycling the action, or that it gets scratched by the protective ears around the firing pin. Also the elevation adjustments do not seem as positive as they could be. Despite these negatives, I really like the sight, it's such an improvement over the original buckhorn rear sight that the rifle came with, it works well with the post and bead front sight, keep a the gun legal for SASS Sidematches and make it a much handier hunting rifle. I will also mention that the sight was shipped to California first before being shipped to me, and caused some confusion, but did arrive well within the estimate.
