Your “Goldilocks” Eurorack Synth Case

With 84HP of useable width, plus built-in I/O that will save you space on utility modules, the Cre8 Audio NiftyCase powered Eurorack case may be just right for your Eurorack needs. Niftycase offers +12/-12V/+5V power for your synth modules, accepts MIDI input via USB or DIN cables, and offers a built-in line-level audio output for easy integration with mixers, portable recorders, and audio interfaces. That means you’ll have the full 84HP of width available for oscillators, filters, CV generators, and all the other fun stuff — no need to take up valuable space for MIDI converters and so on. Whether it’s your first Eurorack or just another brick in your wall of synths, there’s big value in the Cre8 Audio NiftyCase powered Eurorack case.

Ready for input from your DAW, sequencer, or MIDI controller

If you need your Eurorack rig to interface with your DAW software, external sequencers, or MIDI controllers, you’ll be glad you started with the Cre8 Audio NiftyCase. It has inputs on the back panel for DIN MIDI as well as USB MIDI — there’s also a MIDI Thru port to pass along MIDI to other devices. If you already use a master sequencer or controller and want to integrate a Eurorack rig alongside you other drum machines and synth modules, NiftyCase is a sweet solution indeed.

Cre8 Audio NiftyCase Eurorack Case Features:

  • 84HP Eurorack case with power, flying bus cable, USB/MIDI input, and line-level audio output
  • Built-in converter takes USB or MIDI input and converts to CV, gate, clock, and mod signals for patching into your modules
  • Accepts MIDI via USB or DIN cable, with MIDI Thru port for daisy-chaining to other MIDI gear
  • Built-in power supply with 10-header flying bus cable
  • Provides 1,500mA at +12V, 500mA at -12V, and 500mA at +5V
  • Internal depth of 55mm gives you more depth than many comparable Eurorack cases offer

Great value for the money

I was looking for a small case and I like to use MIDI to drive my eurorack modules, and I had just bought a MIDI/CV module that cost $189 USD for another case. For $10 more, NiftyCase gives you an entire case with power supply and audio output in addition to MIDI/CV with dual CV/GATES. Buying it was a no brainer. It is an incredible value! The build quality is quite good, all metal (not plastic) and so far it's been working out fine. I've even plugged headphones into the audio output and it's a clean signal. I've got 5 Behringer System 100 modules in it with 4HP to spare.

My only complaint is that the blank panels were attached with hex screws and it didn't come with an hex key to remove them. So my first experience was extremely frustrating. There I was with my modules and my philips screw driver all ready to install them and I had no way to remove the blank panels. Not a good impression but not enough to remove a star. Maybe everyone else has hex keys handy but me (as I'm kinda new to eurorack).

I would definitely buy another one. That kinda says it all. I hope they eventually make longer ones. (hint, hint).

All in one

This is my second nifty case . I also bought the side ears to join the two cases together . You just cannot go wrong with these cases . More than enough power, USB and midi converter to cv, clock ,and gate . 84 U . That converter saved me 200 Washington's right there ! I think these cases are the best deal anywhere period . 54mm deep that's over 2 inches deep. My advice is get the sweetwater charge card . 36 months interest free you can really rack it up with that . You'll be cranking it up in no time. Honest

Great value, decent quality

The first NiftyCase I ordered arrived with one of the capacitors from the motherboard unsoldered and rolling around in the case. Although I exchanged it for a working replacement, that seems indicative of slightly lower quality. Still, I can't complain too much for the great value of everything that's included with the NiftyCase. It comes with a power supply, audio outputs, MIDI in/out and USB input. Normally, these would all be separate and cost hundreds of dollars (and take up space in the case with utility modules), but the NiftyCase provides all of that for a reasonable cost. The gate and CV outputs on the top are especially useful for setting up with a laptop or external controller. Set-up was super easy. Only other issue is that the audio clips when I use both audio outputs, but that also could be an issue with attenuation from the module.

Bad audio output and finicky MIDI

The mono audio output is unacceptably noisy. I suspect it's interference from the power.

The two channel MIDI-to-CV generally works, but the note-on gets stuck occasionally, and the only solution I've found is to reset the power. (This applies to both the 5-pin and USB input.)

Still, for a physically solid case with built in power and functional-but-low-quality audio output and MIDI, it's a decent deal if you want to dip your toes in the modular world.

But expect to replace this case pretty quickly once you decide to get more serious.

Piggy back of the first review.

Nifty Case seems to have the necessary bells and whistle but upon arrival, the built in stereo Output was only sending one side (can't remember which side because I've been waiting on a replacement case for about a month now thanks to covid19). The only thing I can say objectively is that my case is powering my module. Being that this is a younger company in the Eurorack space, I wouldn't be surprised if the manufacturer traded off build quality for
affordability/flexibility/functionality. The first guy to comment mentioned that his case came in with unsoldered parts moving around in the chassis. Maybe when Cre8audio gets around to restocking the retail stores, we'll probably get a better idea of the build quality of this product. For now, not enough reviews for this newer product.
