Blow Hole Boys #3

Convincing Constance

Rate this book
As the only survivor of a tragic accident, Tony Russell, aka Tiny, is mentally and physically scarred for life. Years later, he finds himself addicted to the gym and prescription drugs. Relationships and sex are the furthest thing from his mind, but when a replacement guitarist steps in for his band Blow Hole, Tony can’t help his physical reaction to her. She’s a spicy rocker with pink highlights and a scorching attitude, and she’s exactly what he needs…regardless of how badly he refuses to believe it.

Constance McClaire knows all about addiction. After growing up with a junky for a mother, she refuses to have anything to do with that life…until she meets the brooding, giant bass player for Blow Hole. He doesn’t take her shit, has sexy tattoos, and very large hands—but he’s clearly an addict and desperately needs help. Getting close to Tony without allowing herself to become emotionally attached is harder than she thought it would be. Addiction is addiction, no matter what it is swimming in your veins, and Constance finds its Tony she can’t get enough of.

”You’re my anchor. I just want to stop moving.”

I actually really liked Tony and Constance’s story and wish more time was spent expanding with their time together, Tony’s past (what exactly happened? I still don't know) and that ending. The delivery although never boring was just too darn rushed.

description

Scenes where the author could have stayed and expand she just never did. The whole conclusion was like an outline or cliff notes to what the story deserved. There were also some confusing errors but I did really love these two.

Tiny/Tony the bass guitar player from Blow Holes hides his scars under his shirts and numbed away by pills. His world is rocked when Zeke injures his hand and Constance, a really likable guarded and abused kick ass guitar player, is hired to fill in for the rest of the tour. Their initial meeting and relationship was decently paced and pretty great.

”If touching me feels that amazing, imagine what my touch would feel like. Let me touch you, Tony. Please.”

Sadly things fall apart for them because Constance can’t loss another person to drugs in her life and Tony’s addiction overrides his feelings for her.

”Every time I snuck a pill without Constance seeing, I hated myself. I wanted to quit for her.”

Four years later and Constance is playing with an all girls’ band and added on a tour with the Blow Holes. Now I must mention, her father was a famous guitar player who died from drugs and his band member, Uncle Jack had done something horrific to her as a young teen. Well Uncle Jack pops up in this story a few times and here once again the author didn’t write enough so his appearances seemed bizarre. Also, his first appearance in the present could have landed him in prison but the idea of calling the authorities at that point wasn’t even mentioned by any character in the book.

Constance tries not to be drawn back into Tony when they are reunited on tour but these two really do love one another and so they fall into one another again. An event centered around Uncle Jack forces both characters to handle their pain and troubles alone and then the author wraps up a trial in a few sentences, a rehab stay in like a paragraph and an hea with a few pages.

description

Overall their story was good and could have easily been a 5 star if the author in my opinion spent more time on it.

Keeping this review short and easy, kind of like the book.

Genre: New Adult Rocker Romance.
Cover: 7/10
Writing: 5/10
Heroine: 6/10
Hero: 6/10
Hotness: 4/10
Romance: 6/10
Extra book Details: Dual POV. 3rd in the series, can be read as a stand-alone, each book follows a different band member.

Like I said, it was an easy read. Around 200 kindle pages, it was even more of a quick read because it wasn't taxing in any way.

I didn't really get annoyed or peeved off for any of it. I had a few feels, a 'ha' here and there, a little sad and a little hot. Nothing major.

The characters were a little quirky; Hero, a big bass player who doesn't like to be touched and lives his life taking pill after pill. Heroine, a ballsy punk rocker with a tough home life who avoids men at all costs.

Definitely not as good as the 2nd book. Too rushed towards the end. Not enough time as an actual 'couple'.

5 freaking i-want-my-own-hot-rockstar stars!

I can't believe I just read this! It has been sitting on my iBooks shelf for weeks now and I just bothered to read it just now. It was just, wow. It was hot. It was passionate. And it was a gem!

"I had to dtay grounded because people who didn't stay grounded were bound to float away.'

Constance McClaire. Daughter of rock god Clarke McClaire. Born into wealth, alcohol, sex and drugs but she's as grounded to reality as can be. Contrary to her uprbinging and physical appearance, she doesn't do alcohol, drugs and sex. What she does is play an awesome guitar but doesn't see herself as a rockstar like her father was. She refuses to get sucked into the world of sin. But when she's starving and with no place to go, she takes a job as a replacement guitarist for Blow Hole. She sets her eyes onto the mysterious, dangerous bass player with a pill problem.

"My life's been so fucked up, and I used to think I was in hell. Then I met you and I realized that hell wasn't a place. It's a moment. I'm in hell every time you touch me... Every time you even look at me... Because I know what you want when you look at me, and I know I can't give you something that doesn't exist.">

Tony Russell, otherwise know as Blow Hole's Tiny the bassist. He's is nothing but tiny. Thick neck, wide shoulders, chiseled abs, he looks dangerous and his mysterious demeanor doesn't help with the image. He has a dark past and an even darker presnt with his pain medication addiction. He appreciates women but deprives himself of them because of shame and guilt but one look at Constance and her badass guitar playing skills, he is done for.

Okay, there are no words. Overall, I love it. And the fact that it has a Part One and Part Two which occurs 4 years later, made my day. I am a sucker for those long time frame. Makes it more realistic, I guess. I mean, not all relationships end up on a two-week lifespan. I love all the characters, even Chet the manslut. Constance is a badass. I love her and Tiny is this quiet, broken guy that chicks seem to dig. And sadly, I am one of them too. He's the type that you want to unravel and peel the layers piece by piece. You want to fix him and take the credit too.

If there would be anything that I dislike in the novel is the title. Convincing Constance. Okay, I did not get it. What is it that we need to convince Constance of? Yes, we may think of a few but it's so vague that it loses it's heart. I think it's more of for the sake of the initials CC which was patterned by the previous installments such as Playing Patience, Finding Faith and the next one Having Hope. Yeah, it may seem cool but maybe dig a deeper meaning for the title next time.
Also the names! Put Patienca and Constance in the same room and I crack up! Both are rare names and them being in the same existence is just plain hilarious!

So yeah, set aside those small little things and I love Convincing Hope. Maybe I'll read the others also, disregarding my dislike for the titles. :)

Definitely a fun, fast read! Picked this up late last night around 9PM-ish and finished by 4AM with no breaks between.

From what the synopsis says, we follow Constance and Tony through their up-and-down relationship spread out over four years' time.

It starts with Constance trying to figure out where the heck she is, and why she can't move. At fifteen, she's drugged at a party, unable to control her body from anything… or anyone. When a familiar face comes into sight, she thinks there's a chance she'll be saved from the embarrassment of being drugged, only to find out her savior is nothing but the devil in disguise as he uses her in the worst way physically possible.

Fast forward a few years, and Constance is a balls-to-the-wall girl with no leash to speak of. She speaks her mind freely, refuses to fall into the drug scene that seems to circulate around her ring of friends and family, and has finally decided to move past the hellhole that is the remains of her broken family. At a chance event where she is pulled on-stage to play guitar, Constance is approached by a man who offers her the chance to make something of herself as a musician, and while at first she doesn't accept, she soon finds herself calling him up and landing the gig of a lifetime: cover guitarist for the Blow Hole boys.

From there, we run into the mix of boys shown throughout the series: Finn, Zeke, Tony or 'Tiny', and Chet. Each comes with their own shining personality and set of whacky baggage, but as mentioned before, this book focuses on Tony. Constance and Tony are drawn to each other the way flies are drawn to honey; it doesn't take much before they're mixing business with pleasure as they finish the tour without Zeke and his broken hand. But along the way, they're given a taste of the outer dangers lurking beyond the bus doors and hotel room walls. Constance is confronted with her past in a way that leaves her even more battered than before, if that were possible. Tony must deal with his own problems, both mental and physical, while still trying to keep hold of the love he has found with Constance.

Through the book, we read the ups and downs of their very edgy relationship, and the first three quarters of the book is a good, slow and steady burn that builds the characters up marvelously. Then the last quarter of the book seems to rush to toss everything together, tying up plot ends in a few sentences and paragraphs and slapping a happy ending on the back. I'm not saying the happy ending was deserved; after everything these characters have gone through, a little HEA is nice to see. But the way it was formulated makes me frown. There are bits in the end of the book that, if they were elaborated on just a tiny bit, would have made the difference between feeling rushed or feeling satisfied. Overall, the read is fantastic- this isn't my first rodeo with Tabatha Vargo, and it will never be the last. I'm just bummed at the sudden ending.

Convincing Constance is book #3 in The Blowhole Boys Series, fangirl moment now... I love the Blowhole Boys series and I have been so looking forward to reading this third book.

And I think it official and actually quite easy to say that Tiny is now my favourite Blow Hole Boy!!!

I really can’t say enough how much I love Tiny, he’s absolutely adorable a real gentle giant!!!

To be honest I hadn’t given Tiny a second thought in the previous two books but now I’m not sure how I missed him!!

I love how tortured and dark he is but he still seems like a genuinely lovely bloke as well. Tiny is a real contradiction, from his name to his personality he is both sides of a coin, both light and dark.

As always Tabatha Vargo drags the reader into the world of sex, drugs and rock & Roll. Amazingly she manages to make this sometimes sordid and cruel world seem normal and even the drug use doesn’t feel particularly taboo.

I love Constance she’s fiery and impulsive and she throws her whole self in to everything and everyone she allows to see the real her.

I loved the flow of this book, time passed but it didn’t feel disjointed, you could feel the way the characters developed with age and although the changes were subtle as a reader you could tell that the character had changed.

This book is all about excess, most of the characters either have or have had drug or alcohol addictions or other issues. This story and its predecessors should feel angsty and dark and perhaps a little depressing.

But they don’t!! This book makes me hopeful, time passes and the story never got stagnant I felt that as long as things kept moving that Tiny & Constance would be ok.

I love them as a couple, out of this series Constance is the only female lead who fits into the bands rock & roll world. I love that she is as badass as the guys and although she has been hurt and abused in the past, she can still be a strong women who doesn’t take any crap!!

I love this book, not much else to say, everyone should buy and read the whole series. Roll on Chet’s story I can’t wait!! but this one gets 4.5 stars from me!!!

This is one of my favorite series and I bought it as soon as it went live. I read this book within hours and I wasn't disappointed!
Constance grew up in the rock and roll world so she has seen first hand what that world can do to people. She never wanted to be a part of it. But when she falls on hard times and takes a job with Blow Hole while Zeke recovers with a broken hand she's thrown right back into it.
Constance is a loud mouth, hard b@#$h so she fits right in with the guys.
Finn treats her like his little sister and Chet treats her like he does every other female. Tiny is the one she's uncomfortable around but she can't keep her eyes off him.
Tiny has a self esteem problem and a self medicating problem. He hates to be touched but has no problem touching females and bring them pleasure. He wants Constance bad but feels he's not good enough for her.
Both of them have a past they try to keep locked away. They both have walls up but when they finally let each other in things go bad and they end up hurt.
I went through so many different emotions while reading this book. I felt bad for both Constance and Tiny. I fully understand why Constance is the way she is. She decided to be a fighter instead of a victim. I can relate to Tiny. I know first hand how having scars on your body can hold you back from doing things. They stole my heart but I knew that would happen. Tabatha's characters have a way of doing that.
Convincing Constance is a great read and trust me you'll love every single word!
Congrats Tabatha on another wonderful book!!!

Convincing Constance is the story of Blow Hole's bass player, Tiny (Tony), and Constance, daughter of a guitar legend and a killer guitarist herself.

Tiny has become addicted to painkillers ever since his car accident that left his abdomen badly scarred. Combine that with drinking heavily and Tiny has plenty of nights that he doesn't remember.

Constance is living dirt poor since she refuses to live with her addict mother who made sure there was nothing left of any inheritance from her rock star father who od'ed. Constance is also living with a terrible secret that involves "Uncle Jack", her father's band mate.

When Zeke injures his hand, Constance fills in for him for the remainder of Blow Hole's tour. She forms a bond with the guys and there's definite sexual chemistry between her and Tiny. But since drugs have taken everyone close to her she's reluctant to get involved with him.

This book was just okay for me. I would have liked a lot more details on the main points of the story . And finally the couple is apart for so long working on their own issues then all of a sudden BAM . I am looking forward to Chet's story though. I'll keep reading.

I knew I was going to like this story just because I had never read anything by Tabatha Vargo I didn't love. Plus it was the Blow Hole Boys and they just kick a$$!

Tiny has always been the mystery of the group. Never knew much about him, but always had the gentle giant thing going for him in my mind. He's the quiet one and you know what they say about the quiet ones.... Tiny lived up to his story perfectly! I couldn't help but feel his pain and understand why he does what he does. Scars inside and out take a toll.

Constance was a contradiction, I loved it. She is this tough bad ass chick that uses her attitude and smart mouth to keep people at bay. She's not had a easy life. She fights with all she has for everything she gets, and when life steps in she fights back as much as she can......

Convincing Constance has the moments that make you want to check your batteries, it has the moments that make you wanna scream and shout "how can you be stupid", but it also has the moments that make you cheer for them and their love.

Tabatha writes a story of redemption from ones painful past, that love can help to hear your scars. That no one is too broken....ever.

Thank you tabatha. You give hope!

This author never fails to pull me into the story within the first chapter!! I started this one yesterday and normally it takes me about a week to read a book these days, this one took me less than a full day! I couldn't put it down. I really loved the character of Constance as a strong woman who didn't take crap from anyone, yet she still has a vulnerable side that can break her if you happen upon it. Tony is a vulnerable male scared of getting close to this chick but unable to stay away from her. The story grabbed me from the beginning and kept me anxious to see how it all ended up. I loved it! I've loved all the books in The Blow Hole Boys Series but I think this one has shot to the top of my favorites in the series. You can definitely read this one as a stand alone though which is great too. I look forward to the last installment of the series. It will be interesting to see if someone can tame the playboy Chet!

It's no surprise that Darynda Jones captures the attention and heart of her readers right from the first chapter. Her love stories will become legends with characters that are real, flawed yet strong. Their issues are believable and relatable making it easy for the reader to be immersed into the love story.
Tony and Constance are imprinted on our hearts, you ache for them, their pasts, and their present with hope that they can find a way back to each other.
If you are a fan of Blow Hole Boys and thought that maybe Zeke or Finn was your favourite book boyfriend, well you need to read about Tony because he’ll break your heart and put it back together.
Can be read as stand-alone but I highly suggest that you read the other books before you read this one. Especially because you will fall in love with the Blow Hole Boys.

LOVED IT!!!!

LOVED IT!!!!

Tabitha did it again with the AMAZING story of Constance and Tony. I ABSOLUTELY FRICKIN LOVED their story!!! Their stories individually broke my heart, but to see how they both bounced back and found love through music was inspiring. Tony and Constance are so appealing because they easily remind you of your own hard ass friends who take no shit from anyone, but has a heart of gold at the same time. The tragedies that they both had to face fell in comparison to the huge positive overcome due to their never ending love for one another. All this story does is make me wish that book 4 would hurry, because I LOVE the BLOW HOLE BOYS!!!

I really enjoy this series! The characters have so much depth you feel like you know them. The storylines are all completely different and interesting. I like that the author doesn't have the couples breaking up then immediately getting back together. The amount of time before they see each other again makes it seem more believable. I REALLY like how strong the female characters are. They're not the type that is treated badly by a man but can't help from immediately forgiving him. (I hate those types of females!) Ms. Vargo's female leads are independent and sassy - they're awesome! I can't wait for the next in this series!!!

Another addition in the blow hole series. This is Tiny's story. Constance is standing in for Zeke when he hurts his hand. Constance and Tiny help each other deal with their past hurts but is love enough when addiction stands in the way. I find that each of these stories is so gripping and angst filled. The chemistry between the couple arcs constantly throughout. Unfortunately like the others, this book comes to resolution so quickly after so much has happened. For me it is to hard to simply get over every hurt so quickly and fall back in to the other person. Regardless, I like Vargo's writing and I love all the crazy guys that make up Blow Hole.

Another great Blow Hole Boys book. I've been wanting to read about Tiny since the first book, and I was not disappointed. Both Constance and Tony, "Tiny", have some deep issues. I really liked how after 4 years apart, they still have feelings for each other, but Constance knew Tony needed help, he just had to see it for his self and get it. I can't wait to read Chet's book next. I love this series.

Not as good as the first two books in the series...just a little too short. But, I still loved it anyway! Out of the three guys, Zeke is still my favorite. But, I'll tell you, the three woman were just so different, that you've got to love them all! Looking forward to Chet's story when it gets released hopefully this summer...

Admittedly I have only read the first 3 books in this series so far. I wish this author didn't feel the need to make all of the lead female characters as victims. First Patience was molested for 10 years, Faith was beat by her father pretty much every day and now you have Constance who was drugged and date raped by her fathers band mate. Does this author not believe in strong healthy female leads? Each one of these ladies was weak and kept their secrets and lived their lives in denial about what was happening to them.
Tony "Tiny" is a mystery. You really don't know much about him. He appeared on the scene and not much information was given about him. No background story to build up his character. What was mentioned was in passing and really didn't shed any light on his upbringing. Also the accident he was in was never detailed about what really happened from his POV.
I just found their connection lacking. When the go their separate ways and meet up again 4 years later they are back to hooking up and then ignoring their issues that broke them up in the first place.
This author could really have some amazing books if she would give more details with her characters and not cut scenes short before fleshing them out and making them more interesting.

2/5 ⭐️⭐️

This was a bla for me. I didn’t enjoyed it as i thought I would. It was a bit “i’m not like other girls” vibe from the main character for me, and I don’t always love that stereotype, but she was a badass, not gonna deny that.

Tony was too extra for me, the scar thing for me was not that big of a problem in my pov as he made it seem, but I respect that he had his demons, the pill thing on the other hand... I dislike so much the way addicts act, he was not the exception, and I hated how he pressured Constance ALWAYS WITH NO BOUNDRIES, like there is personal space and don’t push women against a wall all the freaking time.

I don’t recommend this book, but it’s tolerable if you want to read the whole series of “Blow Hole Boys”.

"She taunts the other part of me and tempts him into making a full escape, but I’m the gatekeeper. Only I can allow his release. And I’m afraid if I ever let go, I’ll never be safe again."

"No woman deserved what I had to offer. They were much too sweet and soft for a man like me. A man who was so blocked from any emotion that I couldn’t feel anything good."

YO SI TE QUIERO TINY 😭😭😍😍

“You make me crazy,”he said before taking a deep breath. “My life’s been so fucked up, and I used to think I was in hell. Then I met you and I realized hell wasn't a place. It’s a moment. I'm in hell every time you touch me…every time you even look at me…because I know what you want when you look at me, and I know I can't give you something that doesn’t exist.”

“Because when I’m touching you, all the pain goes away. Because when I’m with you, all the memories dissolve into nothing and all I can think about is how amazing you make me feel.”She smiled sweetly at me and grabbed my hand. “If touching me feels that amazing, imagine what my touch would feel like. Let me touch you, Tony. Please.”And just like that, she got over my walls."

"I lost complete control of my body, but I did a lot of thinking while I was in there. And I think I can’t live without you.” A tear slipped down her cheek and I reached out and smoothed it away. “I know I have my moments. I know I can be a complete and total asshole, but if you’ll have me, I want to spend the rest of my life treating you the way you deserve to be treated.”

“I love you more than anything. I want to spend the rest of my life being addicted to you. You’re my anchor. I never want to float away again. Will you marry me?”

The books get worse in this series! Same plot: 2 broken souls. The heroine is beaten and raped and the hero is damaged. They try to ignore the pull. Then they succumb to their attraction. They fall in love. Something happens. They break up for 4 years. They meet again. Chemistry flies everywhere. They reconnect. They try to fight it,but they can’t.
Epilogue: they are married and they have kids. End of story!
The first book was amazing and the connection was out of this world, second book was less enticing, but the third one was like a broken record. It was such a disappointment!

Convincing Constance is the third full length novel in the Blow Hole Boys series by Tabatha Vargo. Love..Love...Love this series and this book made the perfect addition to the series. The storyline was fabulous and was very well thought out. The characters were spot on with depth, emotion and lots of smokin hot chemistry. Can't wait to read the next book to see if Chet can find his perfect match!!!

Good entry for the series.

Dual POV. A couple of steamy scenes. Like the other books in the series, this one also deals with childhood abuse of a girl (sexual abuse in this case) and addiction. I understand that childhood abuse is unfortunately more common than we would hope but I wished that Constance had a different backstory. The ending also came super quick in this book, to the point that I wanted at least another chapter before the epilogue.
