Our first UBTECH was the JIMU Mystical Series: UnicornBot which retails for about $100. It had over 400 parts, color cards and sensors, DC motor, controller, and a quick start guide. The kids are really hooked and want more of the coding/building kits. They like the build, code customized approach with the app, it really challenges the kids to problem solve and inspire creativity. If robotics is the future then this is a good place to start. The UBTECH Marvel Avengers: Endgame Iron Man Mk50 Robot (retails $289) in contrast is completely built, comes with a sensor pad, download the app, usb charging cord, and no instructions. We had to watch 4-5 videos to find the charger port (which is under the red panel on the back right shoulder blade) and how to use the app to create custom commands and how to play). The app did freeze a few times, and is quirky that you have to input email address whenever you open the app. The robot is a decent size, just over 12 inches tall.Overall, the kids really liked the building/coding kits better, since this comes fully assembled. We had high expectations given our experience with the Unicorn robot set and the fact that the Ironman robot is three times more expensive. This is more tailored to kids that aren’t into building and coding, but rather a glorified video game via a limited featured robot. The app needs some work.
