About this item
- The Perfect Grind: The manual coffee grinder has infinite settings to control the coarseness, letting you easily zero-in on your ideal grind for a french press. And the stainless steel will not dull as easily as ceramic or bladed grinders!
- Well-Crafted & Reliable: The design of the coffee bean grinder is not only nice to look at, but it is also made from stainless steel that will not rust or break. You won’t ever have to worry about the mechanism failing you when you need it most.
- Great For Travel: Batteries and cords are history. This burr grinder was made for all situations and locales. Whether it's on a snow-peaked mountain, some wilderness campsite, or just at a roadside rest stop, the espresso grinder will be ready to go.
- Go Green: Manual machines are not only fun to use but they also reduce our carbon footprint. Because the hand grinder does not need a power supply, using it saves energy and helps the earth.
- Easy To Clean: No need to disassemble it into a million pieces and put it back together. The maintenance for these burr grinders for coffee beans is simple: Unscrew the burr, rinse, wipe with a damp cloth, dry and screw it back on. There. Done.

A few things to note:
1) I thought that the grinding experience became easier and easier with more use. I'm not sure why this is. Initially, I believed it was because it required less effort if you're not turning the beans into a fine powder... but, that ended up being false when I reset it to a fine powder from coarser grounds and back again. It's not that hard. Any momentary resistance you feel is probably a bean about to get crushed.
2) you will probably have little bits of grounds fly out of the hopper if you don't keep it covered. I'm a pretty neat person, but even I found this was out of my control as I was turning. Easily solved.
3) I was a little surprised to see that trying to change the coarseness when the hopper was not empty was pretty ineffective. It's best to do a little at a time, as some people say. Why? Discover what it looks like and then figure out what your preference is depending upon how you prepare your coffee. There is a clear difference between trying to open the assembly and make the adjustment when the hopper is empty, versus when there are beans blocking the burrs. My bad!
4) I got a surprisingly full amount of ground coffee which almost filled up the container after working on half a bag of beans. I'm not a coffee snob and I am going to be fine with a mixture of different coarsenesses (is that even a word?!) due to experimenting when I make my coffee tomorrow, and I'm probably going to keep everything out overnight on my kitchen table, too, until everything is used up over the next several mornings. YMMV, but I say this because if you're passionate about coffee, hopefully you figure out how much grounds you get based upon how much beans you throw into the hopper; I do know people who get upset when they do too much or too little, when they don't regulate the ambient temperature, etc. So, experiment a little at a time if you're not an uncultured idiot like me. heheh
5) I'm sure that everything will taste fine, but I'm not evaluating that because I really don't care whether I drink the most expensive stuff or the worst swill on Earth. Furthermore, I'm not tasting the grinder itself, so that's that. Caffeine is caffeine in my body, it gets me going and helps me take my daily dump, and grinding everything helps prevent me from melting dark chocolate over the beans and eating too much of them.
6) cleaning this looks like it'll be pretty simple. The notations by the manufacturer do state that it is not dishwasher friendly and to use a mild soap in the sink. Easy enough.
Now, I'm nicking a star because the little peg attached to the end of the handle feels a little on the flimsy side and I'm afraid it's not going to take long before it breaks off. Everything else is attached or screwed on or fits great, so this really isn't a big deal... especially since I took the tip from a couple of other people of using a drill to do the turning for me, and my manual coffee grinder indeed can be briefly turned into an electric one! Ha! Anyway, I definitely endorse this handy little item, I look forward to using up bags of whole bean coffee that I haven't known what the hell to do with for quite a while, and I wish everybody good luck who buys it.
