A Cat's Guide to Bonding with Dragons: A Humorous Fantasy Adventure (Dragoncat Book 1) Kindle Edition

** Now a complete series **

The unlikely duo who might just save the world

Ben must be the hungriest cat ever…

One moment, he was enjoying a breakfast of salmon trimmings in his home in South Wales. The next, he was teleported across time and space onto the cold stone floor of an evil warlock.

Locked in the warlock’s tower through day and night, Ben may have to serve him for a while. He'll hate this, especially having to hunt those infernal demon rats when the warlock doesn’t feed him well at all.

Meanwhile, in a distant academy, a dragon is bored out of her mind. Unable to wear a saddle, no human dares mount her. Is there anyone in this land who can ride her into battle against the forces of the evil warlocks? Somehow, she doubts she’ll ever find a suitable bond.

Unless there is another creature with enough dexterity to fulfil that role. One, perhaps, who is currently sprinting right out of a warlock’s front door…

Wow! I loved this story! It was fun to see a cat have so many adventures! Can Ben and Salanraja defeat an evil wizard?

The writing in this story made it fun to read! The author caught the cat's point of view and thoughts very well! (We cat owners KNOW our kitties can be snarky IF only they could talk!) The characters are well developed through Ben's eyes... and the world building allowed us to see everything in our minds.

The story is unusual, but Chris Berhsin makes it work. I am glad that I had discovered this author! I love unusual stories where relationships are important in the battles against evil. I love stories that emphasize teamwork. I love characters who aren't perfect but strive to become better. There is also humor along with the action and adventure! Pretty much everything I love in a story is present here!

My favorite part of the book is the relationship between Ben and Salanraja - it grows with each challenge. Too, Ben learns to become more mature in his thinking with Salanraja's help - whether he really wants to or not! That's the beauty of relationships, right?

While I was given an ARC, I am freely sharing my opinion. I purchased a copy of this book as well to support this author. I can't wait to read the NEXT story in this series! MORE, Chris, please!!! Grab this story - you will be glad that you did!

This was a fun romp. Though, many times I wished to throttle Ben as much as Salanraja does. I hope he learns to think of others before himself and his stomach. Though I could see some cats would act the same way if they gained the same powers.

I have a nine-pound orange tabby named Ben. Both Bens cannot seem to think of anything but food. This series, now that I’ve finished the first volume and find myself half way through the second, is a well developed story, populated by an interesting cast of characters. Now, if I could get my Ben to talk…

This seemed like a cute cat and dragon adventure that I might recommend to my granddaughter, but after reading it, I’m reconsidering. Maybe if you’re going to read the entire series, there is redemption for Ben, but in this installment, he’s very self-centered, unwilling to heed advice, lacking in self-awareness, and slow to consider the bigger picture. That’s not the message I want her to come away with. The writing is descriptive; the editing okay; the plot holds together; but I’d have liked Ben to be a bit more open to learning the lessons offered to him.

I’m so glad I was suggested this book. I love kitties already, and the combination with a Dragon is like vanilla ice cream and chocolate! Perfect! The Warlock villain, sounds like he’s got quite a backstory to him. I’m not loving the Counsel of Three yet. Imo anyone who committed abuse to a animal, especially cats, can die accidentally, and I would take the time for a mini celebration of Karma. So, the Three, and the kitchen manager is on my shiitakes mushroom list!

How can you go wrong with dragons and cats? And magic, of course.

I am probably a little too old to truly enjoy this book, but a younger audience wouldn't notice the parts that could have used a good editor. I can't comment on the mechanics because I listened to the book with my Alexa app.

Ben is a snarky Bengal cat who is very proud of his heritage. He finds himself dragged by an evil wizard into a world where dragons and magic exist and nothing works the way it did in his own world. In cat like fashion, he manages to land on his feet - finally - after befriending a dragon.

A truly G rated book (kudos for that!!), only references to language, no crude comments. Very appropriate for middle schoolers who love fantasies with dragons and lots of adventure.

I recommend this book for young people.

What a fun book.
A cat becomes a dragon rider by being drawn to another Dimension. Very interesting fun story with great characters, Evil Minions, cats and Dragons.

Ben is pure cat and applies his world view to a world of magic, dragons, and evil. He narrates his story of escape from a warlock to becoming s student at a dragon riders’ academy. His selfish interest gets him in hot water and the rest of the story is one of growth and redemption.

This was a fun read. Having owned (?) a cat in the past, I found this very humorous and real.

I definitely recommend this story to you.

Mayhem
5.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable and very entertaining

As previous readers have said I think this was aimed for young adult readers as opposed to near 40-year olds like myself.
Despite that there are always times when people who want to read something light-hearted, enjoyable and entertaining. If you want to show off your literary credentials then bugger off and read Dostoevsky or something; you'd be right out of place at one of my BBQ's.
I dislike saying that an author has been influenced by other writers as that comes with a vague accusation of stealing and I don't think that's the case here. It's hard to think of a single work in the past 30 years where dragons do not speak mind-to-mind.
I would describe this book as a mix of Westall (Cats of Seroster especially), McCaffrey (Dragonriders of Pern) with a pinch of Pratchett (where to begin?) and Holt (Overtime, Paint your Dragon, Snow White and the Seven Samurai...). Might also be a bit of Tailchaser in "Bengie" as well!😁

5.0 out of 5 stars A brilliant fantastical story.

Suitable for all members of the family. Maybe even those who can't read yet. Though probably better suited to those who can read themselves. Might be a little too scary for really young readers. No profanity in this book. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and am going to read the entire series. Starting the second story right now.

I enjoyed the unique perspective and it was a fun read. But it was also uneven in places, and I am a nitpicker. I do recommend the book if you're looking for something lighthearted.

Interesting concept but its a pre teen book. Just not enough of a read to make me want to buy the next one. I finished it just because I hate not finishing a book.
