I saw this book being recommended by another author that I follow so of course I had to buy it. Best money I've spent in a while! Tabatha is now a one click buy for me :)
I like the fact that the characters are real. The towns and back drop are real. I can say that this is good. You are getting 4 books in one. Patience and Zeke touched my heart. Their love is sweet and innocent with lots of complications. Faith and Finn story was emotional. I was heartbroken, grieved and excited as they were. Cannot wait to read the next one.
Reading this book I ran the gamut of emotions. Patience has so much to deal with and her story tore my heart out. Couple that with Zeke's life and the two of them are destined for a bumpy road. I warn you there is incest, abuse, drug use, and other emotionally charged issues woven throughout their story. I found Vargo's writing fresh and well done. The story is well told. The characters are completely developed and their world is vividly created on page.
Patience and Zeke made me crazy. Just when I thought things couldn't get worse for them, something else happened to tear them apart. They are both incredibly stubborn and independent, but need each other to hold the pieces together. I honestly wasn't sure if I wanted them together in the end though. They had so much history to overcome it seemed too much. In the end, their love for each other is enough. The sum of their experiences pulls them together.
Finn and Faith are another story Vargo created out of Zeke's story. Finn and Zeke are bandmates and hit it big, but before that, they both struggle with being from the wrong side of the tracks. In Zeke's book, Finn is the solid friend and level headed one. He came to be this way after a rough childhood and losing the woman he loved. You hear about her briefly in the first book and then you get the big picture in their own part of the novel.
Faith is a preacher's daughter who is straight-laced and sheltered. She is also beaten in the name of the Bible and kept under lock and key. Finn is in the wrong place at the wrong time and ends up having community service for a crime he didn't commit. He meets Faith and decides it might not be so bad. The two clash and come together, her innocence drawing him like a moth to a flame, but they are not meant to be together if her father has anything to say about it.
Similar emotionally heavy topics are woven into their story. Each chapter is told from alternating POV's so as a reader you get the big picture. Sometimes though, the pieces of the puzzle don't come together right away. The stories are heart wrenching and at times I wanted to put the book down, but I had to keep reading! Finn needed me! I love Finn. He is the kind of guy you'd want your daughter to meet, even if he is a bit rough around the edges.
Book 1 PLAYING PATIENCE 3.75 stars. Some things were a little too off, but overall I enjoyed the read. A few things that bothered me were: the fact that she been raped for years and never had a pregnancy scare. The fact that just because her mom got cancer her dad started raping her...how about it has nothing to do with her mom and everything to do with her dad. There is no explaining away raping a child. And a few times the time line didn't add up. At one point she said he had been doing it for 10 years and another time 7 years.
Book 2 PERFECTING PATIENCE 2.5 stars. This book just didn't do it for me. They finally get figured out and no one expected her to be great (hello she had been raped her for 7 to 10 years)but this book just felt like the author wrote them a few horrible months to have a book between Zeke and Finn, it felt unnecessary. If the author wanted to show their struggle, she could have thrown a few paragraphs in FINDING FAITH to give us a update on Patience's therapy or whatnot.
Book 3 FINDING FAITH 4 stars. I enjoyed this book the most. It seems corny at times, but overlooking that I think this one was written the best. My only issue with this book was the ending was TOTALLY RUSHED. It was angst and struggles thought-out the entire book until the last 10-15 pages and then everything is hunky dory. It was so detailed on everything in the first part of the book, then (she tells him her secret)and all is well in their world. ??? Just didn't get why the ending was so rushed.
If you like books about bad boy rockers and the girls who love them... I do say boys and girls cause they are teens and act like teens trying to hurt each other with words and actions. Then you will like this series.
I read only story 1 and 1.5 so far. Over all for those 2 I rate it 3 and a half stars. I may get back to the last story - Finn's, some other time. This is hard to rate for me... I became invested in the characters and after it got going, I didn't want to put it down. But there were some issues with the choppy flow of the writing, going back and forth from her pov to his. I don't know, I just didn't care for it. I'm glad we got both pov's though! The abuse both of these characters had to deal with just broke my heart. The big incident involving her father was well written. Lots of emotions during those scenes. There is cheating- on Zeke's part which isn't a deal-breaker for me... but I was ticked off anyway. I tried to understand Patience and her thoughts at that time, but she was so messed up mentally... annoyed me but I still felt bad! LOL, I sound so dumb. Anyway... these two characters did alot of things I didn't agree with (such as drugs, etc) but then there were times they were mature and stood up for themselves and fought to stay together. I can't say as I would reccomend it to my friends... but just to confuse you more, I can say that I am glad I read it. SMH ;)
AMAZING!!!! Zeke and Patience were absolutely frickin adorable, especially the "Snowflake" nickname. I love the fact that they married and had little snow princesses as well. Though their story was tragic and they both went the horrible home lives, I love that passed the BS drama they found solace in each other and loved passed the hurt. I don't think I could've handled it if this book ended any other way besides them living happily ever after.
Finn and Faith also absolutely frickin AMAZING!!!! Faith's strict religious upbringing could only make her run one way and I'm happy that way was to Finn. Even though Finn wasn't the perfect Christian boy/man, he loved Faith HARD!!!! She needed someone like Finn because he brought a new perspective in her life and showed her that the dark side spews light after all. I'm beyond the moon that once passed all the lies and family betrayal were exposed, that they found each other and got married so they could raise their son together.
Overall, I loved both Blow Hole Boys stories of love and loss, Tabatha you did and excellent job and I can't wait to read and review Tiny's story.
The Blow Hole Rock Hard Box Set by Tabatha Fargo might be an unusual name for a set of books, but it is ends up being an exceptional compilation of stories. The Blow Holes are actually the name of the four band members: Zeke, Chet, Tiny and Finn who all knew each other as teens and tweens. These stories are about the women in their lives, the emotional ups and downs of meeting, dating, and loving rockstars. The books are available separately however, reading them one after the other in succession makes the stories more fulfilling. The books are as follows: Playing Patience: Zeke and Patience Perfecting Patience: Zeke and Patience Finding Faith: Finn and Faith Convincing Constance: Tony (Tiny) and Constance Having Hope: Chet and Hope
Always exciting to find a new author to add to the list of those whose books still inspire me to read them.... It seems that while that list is still lengthy, the number of names being added being added are not.
Playing Patience...book 1 Ohhh goodness..I Fell in luv with this broken boy..Zeke and this Broken girl Patience. They both overcame some pretty big shit and helped pick each other back up and have a wonderfu/HAWT luv story ...love this tattooed rock star that damn lip ring = ) Luv ur books and ur face Tabatha!!!
Perfecting Patience...book 2 PERFECT.......FLOVE the Hotel scene with the Snowflakes..gave me goosebumps!!!
"I’ll love you until I don’t exist anymore, and even after I die, if there’s any good left in me, the love I have for you will continue on in my soul."
Sighs..I just luv me Sum Zeke and Patience.. Their story continues into Perfecting Patience.. The Blow Hole Boys hit it big and you go through the emotions off Zeke and Patience relationship..old wounds opening up..long distance relationships. Will their luv and passion survive? pick this series up..Sooooo good = )
I read the first one and a half books, Patience and Zeke. First of all, it really needs edited. There are several places where the paragraphs are repeated, and that gives you a WTHeck moment. Now, for the story. Zeke and Patience are both so broken. And so young. I rarely read a story about people who are this young, but I couldn't stop once I started. The story is filled with angst and there are times that you just know that one or the other of them are going to end up dead. This is not a fairlytale. It is cold and hard and sometimes you just find yourself wanting to grab them by the face and say "What the hell is wrong with you!!!". It held me, it entertained me, it mad me happy and sad and angry. Would have been 5 stars if the editing hadn't gotten on my nerves.
WOW this was a heart wrenching, emotional, and sexy read. Zeke was sexy and hot. He fell in love with the girl from the wrong side of the tracks. Poor Patience, she was stuck in a terrible situation. Living with a father that violated her every day while trying to protect her mother and sister. Patience just wanted someone to save her from her nightmare but she refused to leave her sister behind and kill her mother with the truth. This story had everything I love in a story, -love, lust, betrayal, sadness and happiness. By the end of the book I was crying so hard. Zeke just proved over and over again that he loved Patience. When she needed him, he dropped everything and rain to her recuse. Great story I will recommend to other readers.
I enjoyed all of these books and immediately bought the next book in the series. I'm so glad I was late to the game on this because I didn't have to wait for them to come out. I gave this one a chance because it was on sale for .99 cents and am always a fan of rock stars. Plus it's 3 books in one. I was very pleasantly surprised to find well written characters with real issues and some dark pasts that struggled down the path to real and lasting love. I don't know who I loved more, Patience and Zeke or Faith and Finn. This is such a heartfelt series. I definitely found a new author to keep an eye on.
When I began to read this book, it was familiar. Then I realized this was 3 books in one and I had actually read the first by a different title. It has been a while though so it was a good review for book 2. I definitely enjoyed these books but they were pretty angsty (is that a word, lol) but also each ended with a HEA which I appreciated. Not really rocker books; the guys just happened to be in a band. These books were primarily about when they were young and not-yet successful musicians so it was mostly young adult plus some over 18+ scenes. I did enjoy them very much.
Get Rocked actually has 4 books in it. It's "The Blow Hole Series". Blow Hole is a rock band. I read the first 2 books: "Playing Patience" and "Perfecting Patience", which center around one of the bands characters. Then the next two books revolve around other characters. I enjoyed the books although there were just something missing for me. I felt like there were some important details that were left out. I will probably go back and finish the series later when I don't have some other books that I'm dying to read right now.
This is my first read from Tabatha Vargo and I was not disappointed!!! I loved the whole box set and getting to read each of the guys stories, which touched down on so many topics and what some people go through.... there is help out there but getting it sometimes is not all that easy. I love Rocker books so I'm glad that I picked this one up... try it if you have not come across anything from Tabatha. Loved the stories maybe one day we will be a reunion and see what has become of all their futures.
I reviewed each book individually under their respective titles. All are dual POV. Most deal with abuse in some way. Each had a decent amount of steamy scenes. My primary criticism is that each book ended quickly after resolving whatever issue and then the epilogue didn’t always give a lot of information (I especially felt that with Chet’s book). Another minor issue was spelling/grammar errors. Overall, the box set follows the band from “starving artists” through success but the timelines for each are a little skewed.
This isn't something I normally go for and I accidentally stumbled onto it after going through amazon's also bought lists. After I downloaded a free sample, I was instantly hooked and had to buy it. The boys were hot and the girls were innocent and despite certain grey patches in the book that weren't clear and the characters being a little unbelievable, it was still a good read. I recommend it to people who like rockstars and innocent loss love stories
I loved this series from beginning to end. All the books are great. They have all the feels and emotions. My favorite still is Patience and Zeke story. Each book is heart wrenching. I was sad when it ended. Amazing books and a steal in this box set. I own the ebooks separately and have a few of the books in paperback. I highly recommend this series. Once you start reading you won't want to stop.
Very nice price for all 3 books! I overall enjoyed all.of the books. There were some parts that I felt were a little awkward, but the books were well written and edited. I will be checking out more from this author.
This book was awesome! It is three books in one. I learned fast, the Blow Hole boys are some hotties! I thought Zeke was amazing, then I fell head over heels for Finn. I can not wait to read more.
Sexy, young study rock stars... Excellent plots with awesome leading ladies!
It took me a while to start this series, because of the heavy themes they deal with, I'm so glad I read it, I love Tabatha Vargo, read most of her books. The Blow Hole series didn't disappoint.
So I finished the first book was ok. I thought that it would get better, I was extremely invested in the characters and I thought that the second book would let be so much back and forth. I just couldn't finish it when I realized it didn't get better.
This series was the best Rocker series I've read since The Mighty Storm series, all the feels, strong characters that were at their core, human with all the faults and insecurities that can bring. Great read!
