Blood Tears (The Enchanted Bloodline Series Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.7 4.7 out of 5 stars 12 ratings

After museum curator Amanda Perretti learns that she is carrying the child of one of her two vampire lovers, her secret makes its way to the halls of an ancient order of Parisian vampires who view her as the manifestation of a ruinous prophecy. Can she and her unborn child survive?

As this gripping sequel to the paranormal romance Immortal Obsession, an expectant Amanda is firmly ensconced in the Upper East Side mansion of her vampire lover Christian Du Mauré. While viewing an exhibition together on 18th-century Paris, Christian spies a diary that once belonged to his former mistress who he left behind in Revolution-era Paris centuries ago. Succumbing to his irrational belief that she is still alive, Christian flees to Paris in search of her leaving Amanda and Michel more vulnerable to an ancient order of Parisian vampires who want her for themselves. As Christian is hunted by something far more deadly, Amanda and Michel find more than danger as they try to save their own lives.

Set in 21st-century New York and Paris but with flashbacks to the horrors of the French Revolution, Blood Tears combines elements of mystery, erotica and historical romance in a pulse-racing and moving love story rich in artfully drawn characters and eloquently painted settings.

Blood Tears is rich in historical detail and meticulous in establishing the connections between characters. Even as answers are revealed, the mysterious deepen. ~ Bitten By Books

The humanity in all of these characters of the story was a refreshing change from the typical overly stiff, regal, or flagrantly impulsive vampire character, or the timid/carefree/largely stupid human character. ~ A Bibliophiles Reverie

Blood Tears is a worthy sequel that is quite the page turner. The pacing is intriguing and the writing style is still elegant with a little more sexual/passionate content. I highly recommend Blood Tears and the series ~ Tranquil Dreams Review

"A truly amazing and unique read." Love Fantasy Sci-Fi Novels

My chance encounter with a beautiful stranger in a Manhattan restaurant was the impetus for my first novel, Immortal Obsession. My obsession with Paris, the Bourbon Kings, the French Revolution and the paranormal spawned my two favorite vampires, Christian Du Maure and Michel Baptiste. The saga continues with my next two novels Blood Tears and Eternal Hunger, creating The Enchanted Blood Line Series.

Equal parts historical romance, paranormal fiction and thriller, all three of my novels pull together my love of New York City, museums and all things vampire. I am an avid reader and art history buff. I earned my Masters' Degree in Museum Professions and interned at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

Thank you so much for taking your time to read and leave a review for any of my novels!

Though reading and writing are my passions, I spent many years in the business office of a non-profit special needs school in my home state of New Jersey. An undergraduate degree in anthropology fed my curiosity and awe of Native Americans and non-Western cultures.

Excellant read - full of great characters
Reviewed in the United States on July 24, 2014
Having read and enjoyed the first installment in Denise K. Rago's vampire books called Immortal Obsession, I was eager to dive into this second book.

This second installment has the same main players, vampires Christian and Michel, and the mortal Amanda with a new set of characters added into the storyline. Christian and Amanda are lovers now. Christian and Michel were close pre-vampire days and their friendship has endured through the ages. Amanda is pregnant and the big question is paternity, since she was attacked by another vampire. The child she carries is thought to be part of a prophecy, as it will be half vampire and half mortal.

The story goes back and forth from 18th century Paris to modern day New York. This is how you learn more about Christian's past. By a twist of fate Amanda is exhibiting a historic diary at the museum where she works, and when Christian takes a peek, he realizes it is the diary he gifted his former lover Josette so long ago. There are rumors Josette may still be alive and turned vampire herself.

I won't reveal too much but secrets are revealed and drama ensues as the plot continues to take dangerous twists and turns as Christian leaves Amanda and goes to Paris in search of Josette. There are alot of revelations here.

I find Denise's work to be reminiscent of Anne Rice's vampires. Christian and Michel share a strong bond, like Louis and Lestat once did. Vampire king Raven and queen Raine live underground and there is a creepy, unsettling air about them. Ghislain is another new character, an immortal and a henchman whose job it is to keep check on vampires and get rid of any who are out of line.

I think these characters are well fleshed out. Christian is torn between his love for Josette and Amanda. He never forgot Josette and as the story flows you see his inner turmoil. I didn't like some of the things he as well as the other characters were doing though. I'll leave it at that. Josette had her reasons for what she did and for the secrets she kept and I was curious as to where her storyline would go. In this installment you really get to see how Christian loved Josette and how drawn to her he was from the start.

"She was a swirling mass of contradictions. how could someone so beautiful and well-mannered be so direct, so sensual? Who was the girl underneath the intelligent eyes and warm smile of a woman?"
p.164, Blood Tears by Denise K. Rago

One of the things that draws me into these books is the settings. Denise's love of the French Revolution and of art shine through in her work. The way she describes Paris, New York and these immortals, with vivid and rich descriptions is enjoyable to read. The plot is fast paced, especially towards the latter half of the story.

I recommend the Immortal Obsession books to fans of vampires, romance and paranormal intrigue. Although there are references to events in the first book in Blood Tears, I think these stories are best read in order. The ending of Blood Tears leaves it wide open for a third book as there was no certain conclusion here. I'm curious to see what comes next for these immortals.

Special thanks to author Denise K. Rago for providing me with a copy of her novel.

I loved Immortal Obsession by Denise K. Rago. It was one of my favorite books that I read in 2012. At the time, I was sick of vampire books. However, Immortal Obsession renewed my love for vampire books. When the author sent me a message, and asked if I would like to review Blood Tears, the sequel, when it was released, I jumped at the chance. I'm so glad I did. I loved it as much as Immortal Obsession, if not more.

Blood Tears was everything I wanted in the sequel, and so much more. It had been a couple years since I read Immortal Obsession, but in the beginning of Blood Tears, the author does a mini recap throughout the first few chapters, which was really helpful. It reminded me of some of the little things I had forgot in Immortal Obsession, so I didn't have to reread it. The plot was fast paced and fun. It had me on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen with Christian, Amanda, and Michel. Being a college student, I appreciated the short chapters in this book. Even if I didn't get much reading done during my busy day, I was still able to read a chapter or two in between classes. It helped to keep my interest focused in the book.

There was a big plot twist that I saw coming before it happened because it was highly hinted at throughout the book. However, just because I knew it was going to happen, didn't make it any less enjoyable. I still loved seeing the interactions between two certain characters after the big twist was revealed. It was fascinating how the twist just kind of turned everything on it's head, and how one of the main characters recovered from it.

By the time Blood Tears was over, it left readers with a lot of unanswered questions, especially in the last few chapters. I am excited to read the next book in the series, and get answers. Although, I think the wait for the third book will drive me crazy. I loved Blood Tears. I definitely recommend Denise K. Rago's books, especially if you are a fan of Anne Rice's The Vampire Chronicles.

French Vampires! There. that is all I really need to say lol. Hot and sexy immortal beings that captured my imagination and left me begging for more.

Blood Tears is book 2 in the Immortal Obsession series. I adored the first book, Immortal Obsession and I didn't think it could be possible for Blood Tears to be better. However, this installment is on a completely different level! Blood Tears has more action, adventure and a lot more hotness than the previous book!

To try and describe this amazing and tantalizing book without giving away spoilers is proving to be a challenge. So much happens in this installment compared to the first book that I just want to talk about everything but I can't!! There are so many twists and turns that I was hooked! I adored the characters from the get go. Especially Michel, I couldn't help but fall for this beautiful vampire. Even though he is a complete player it is his friendship with Christian that makes me melt.

Now if you are familiar with these book you will know already know that the "relationships" between the characters are very very complicated. Their lives are all intertwined with one another that at times the lines that you aren't meant to crossed is awfully blurred! It keeps the readers on their toes and guessing as to what will happen next.

Blood Tears is told in two different times, Present day and 1700's. Which was fascinating, I actually preferred it when the author went to the past because the tales were beautifully written and memorizing. As well as being told from different POV's and that usually this annoys me so much. However, in this case it works perfectly! We learn so much about the characters back story and getting to meet a lot of new and interesting characters.

I highly recommend these book to anyone who love Paranormal romance, sexy times, loose morals and vampire drama galore!!
