Complicated but works

Complicated but works
I've used a cheap spin-brush pro for close to 10 years and saw a significant improvement in my dental health from it at dentist visits, but lately I've gotten tired of the decreased battery life and it missing some places in interdental regions. I decided to take the plunge and purchase an over-priced oral B. I have no desire to use bluetooth function or any of the bells or whistles but I compared the 5500, 7000, and genius 8000 versions all in black. The final decision went to price, discounts available, and whether replacement heads and a travel case was present. So I went with the 7000.Unboxing- the box is as unnecessarily complicated as the brush. I should've taken a picture of all the boxes within boxes within folds, it covered over half my queen-size bed. They could take a lesson from Ikea, the total box size could've been halved with far less packaging.Anyway, The brush is attractive, not over-bearingly/fatiguingly heavy, but is NOT all black. The whole sides are silver plastic and all the heads are white. The cord/charger are white and the cord is a bit stiff with lots of memory so I had to use cord clips and a tie to train it/tuck it out of the way along my mirror. The cord is a decent length but it can't stray far from a vanity or sink area so plan accordingly with your bathroom outlet set up. Not a secure fit onto charger but charger base doesn't slide around and sits nicely on surfaces. It came with a large fold out user manual bigger than most of my other electronics. It came with a booklet of coupons WHICH WERE EXPIRED 7/31/2018 (I purchased item 1/13/19)The travel case has a nice feel but you have to remove heads to use it, there are slots for 2 heads. There is a separate plastic/rubbery pouch for the charger/cable I'm assuming? Too much of hassle, an ideal travel case would fit everything in one place so you don't forget anything and can grab one thing when you need to brush your teeth. There is a surround-snap-on head holder that fits over the charger that I won't use. Then there is the smart control device which takes 2 AAA batteries (comes with duracell AAA's!). The design is poor as to change settings, sync the device etc, the buttons are hidden- you have to unsnap the device from the mirror holder case, and remove the back plate of the device itself to access the buttons and batteries. It has a clock feature on the left, a smiley (and potentially frownie) face on the left, and other places where TINY icons will appear based on what you're doing with the brush itself.I started charging the brush at around 8:30 pm and it can take up to 24 hours to fully charge the first time. Mine took over 20 hours. They want you to keep it on the charger all the time saying it's "impossible to over-charge" but that they recommend fulling discharging the unit at least every 6 months. There is no reassuring click/clunk/chonk/snap when you put the phone on the charger- it just sits and can wobble on the post. The brush itself is only semi-sturdy sitting upright on surfaces- It can take a mild brush/wobble of a few degrees in any direction and stay upright, but for the price I'd be scared to leave it lying around upright where it could get knocked. The manual specifically states it's FORBIDDEN to be dropped. The brush functions/motion is good but there is heavy vibration of the whole handle, more than others I've tested. The custom light up colors, sensors, functions seem to work well but I am only using 1-2. There are 2 timing settings - profession which breaks down sections by 30 seconds or just the regular 2 minute timer. Deep clean timer is 3 minutes. Pressure sensor function works and gives warnings with lights and visuals. One day if I'm bored and twiddling my thumbs I'll test set up and connectivity with my cell phone (Samsung Note 8) but I have no intention of using/keeping an app for this long term ever.I'm happy with the brushing function and mouth feel afterwards, the rest is all unnecessary. The price on amazon was discounted to $110.24 (still too much), I used a coupon discount for $20 off, a gift card for $18, and $36 in rewards pounts to make this less than $40 out of pocket. So my judgement of long term value and durability will be based on both prices. If you really read the manual it tells conflicting stories of it a) being built to survive in a bathroom (where heat/humidity is absolutely assumed), but warns that b) it shouldn't be used in the bath/shower, be submerged, or getting the handle wet. It also wants you to dismantle and wipe/clean the unit after every use. Based on some pictures from other users, it does seem there is some rusting/corrosion issues, so it's unclear if its just from existing in the bathroom environment or if those units were cleaned regularly, or if there were leaks in the casing rendering them not actually water proof or even resistant. It comes with 3 heads - cross brush, 3D white, and sensitive brush. After using this for several days, I've learned there are things you can't do. You can't apply toothpaste and turn it on. The brush has to be in your mouth against your teeth and behind your lips before you can turn it on, otherwise it flings toothpaste EVERYWHERE with surprising velocity and arc. This is a pain because you have to fumble to hit the mode button which is hidden from sight in the mirror against you while using the brush if you want to change the mode right away. I also can't fit the normal amount of toothpaste on the little head so I have to stop and reapply for the bottom teeth halfway through my brushing to continue.I still find the brush doing a great job and the timer definitely prevents me from taking short cuts. I'd recommend this brush to others based on my experiences thus far, but only if you can get it heavily discounted and only if you are not easily stressed.

I had a old Oral B professional x nearly 10 years one speed only. It works still but is much slower now more likeca manual.
Oral B 7000 with either smart clock timer and mode display.
Oral b synced well handle with app or timer.
Would prefer the mode to display on handle must use timer or ap to know for sure.
Did use coupon so 100 dollars.
Nice black case prefer no usb on a case where water is present.
8000v9000 have usb
Do not want to suspend smartphone by a suction cup on mirror and detection of postion from other notes is less than accurate per other users .
Save 38 dollars get the 7000.
Save 10 more with 6000 .
Rinse after use irrigate brush head and dry is water proof others said about corrosion my 10 year old Oral B is still working just weak now very weak so I replaced the 50 dollar unit over 10 years.
This is made in the USA .
Hope this helps someone as a first impression.
Second impression
1. More advice on sync between handle, smart clock, and use of application instead of clock.
2. Cycle between 6 modes in smart clock
3. Did not use smartphone instead of smart clock but probably the same but in a wet environment?
4. Really 6 modes is 6 speeds ironicaly my old 10 year was in sensitive mode or massage mode but also stop mode so replaced good service 5 dollars per year of use. Good investment at age 67 have 31 healthy teeth.
5. Consider how much a cleaning cost this is the cost of one dental DDS appointment for a healthy mouth which extends to other infections in your body risk in heart disease if neglected.
6. Not really that loud consider the oscillate and vibration needed.
7. Handle easy to clean with travel case too.made in Germany correction.
8. I am not returning but process seems long original box etc but within 60 days .
9. Choose based on number of speeds or modes needed to be simple.
10. Bluetooth does add value.
11. Retricting or shut down on mode program is over the top i just want to cycle between modes and not shut down when i enroll in a program.
12. Rare for red light to activate let handle do the work light touch only spinning and vibrating enough on its own.
13. Sync issues use mode to sync but usually remove from charger and bluetooth sync s be sure your BT is on first in smartphone then follow prompts on phone but start brushing is a verbal prompt do not press is automatically connected just wait for handle to sync with smartphone at top..
Complex just brushing but documents time and your sequence with flossing and mouthwash.
7000 is a good balance bottom line cleans well cycle thru all 6 modes in 3 minutes feel dental refreshing floss rinse Healthy gums and teeth .
Perhaps less models better PG Braun price points more FAQ price range from 89 to 200 plus mine was over100 with coupons but not the Genius level . Handles are different but a better idea to have 6 modes on handle but smart guide clock has the cycle pictured.
After nearly a week, cleaner healthier direction. Smart guide clock stops in tongue mode if you reach the programed time of 2 min regular clean then goes back to reset diamond clean c + is set for 3 minutes. Just data accuracy on timing per mode needed but expect if you cycle thru 6 modes which I need with gum recession per DDS do not spend 45 sec per quadrant keep moving no parking in quadrant zone so not programmed to count this way no setting to be elected just the order of 6 modes . 7000 is last years model perhaps genesis has this along with modes all pictured on handle. 100 dollars was my limit.
PG can produce a TB handle that is the same for all models include lithium battery too.
Overall a good buy for better dental health. If i had a powerful brush like this 50 years ago would not have the fillings, root canals , receding gums, extractions , etc saved a lot on dental care . Today dental health corelates with other health risks cardiac , nutrition , digestion etc Buy 6000, 7000, or Genesis.
I am a fan for oral b products. I do not work for PG a health care professional .
Good reliable product .

To begin with, I have owned a Braun electric toothbrush for many years. I have one of their older rotating head models that still works well. In other words, I have experience with these toothbrushes. I also feel that, by far, you get a better clean using a rotating brush over a standard one. I am a little over 50 years of age. In my lifetime, I have only had one cavity. I take great pride in maintaining proper dental hygiene. I believe anyone can be cavity-free if they floss regularly and brush their teeth and gums twice a day for at least two minutes.

What I liked about the older Braun electric toothbrush was that I could actually time my brushings to the recommended 2 minutes. Start the holder, and at the two minute mark, the brush heads would make a funny motion to indicate that your two-minute mark has occurred.

This new 7000 SmartSeries toothbrush takes that experience to a whole new level.

The best thing about this expensive toothbrush is that it comes with a portable gauge with adhesive holder that you tack on to your bathroom wall near your sink. It actually pairs with the toothbrush via bluetooth. When you turn the toothbrush on, the indicator starts counting towards your 2-minute goal. I like this, because without the indicator on the older brush, I never knew how far into my routine I was. An indicator on the gauge not only counts your brush time, but also tells you if you are brushing too hard. If you are brushing too hard, a sad face will appear on the indicator. I was surprised how often this happened -- and it showed me, for the first time, that I was not brushing properly.

The only thing I wasn't too crazy about was that every 30 seconds, the toothbrush heads would slow down for a split second, to indicate another 30 second cycle had just passed. I don't think it was necessary for Braun to implement this feature. It's not a deal breaker, certainly -- but I do agree with other Amazon reviewers that it can be annoying.

At first, the thought of having a phone app for brushing your teeth seemed ludicrous. However, after using the included gauge --- and becoming dependent on it --- I can see how an app would be perfect when traveling. Think about it.....you can leave the gauge at home and use the mobile app instead to show you your progress and indicate when you are not brushing correctly.

Now to debunk some prior review myths....

Yes, it is true, it takes a full 24 hours to initially charge this toothbrush. That's kind of crazy. However, I suppose no big deal. Some have said that the charging light is overly bright to the fact that it's almost like having a night light in their bathroom. This is not true. Yes, it has a blinking blue charging light, but in total darkness, it did not become bright enough to be distracting.

Yes, it's a little noisy when being used. However, not the point where you are going to wake up everyone in the house. If you are like me and keep the bathroom door closed, nobody is going to be awakened by this toothbrush.

The 7000 series is a bit larger and heavier than the older Braun toothbrushes. However, it does seem to be more powerful. I also feel a better clean, overall, using this series over the older model.

It comes with, I believe, 3 brush heads. A registration coupon inside offers a $3 savings on replacement heads plus an additional $7 off coupon when you register online.

There is a beautiful travel case included. I agree with one reviewer that the travel case might be better if it had air vents. However, if you thoroughly dry your toothbrush prior to putting it in the case, I don't see any problems.

Braun has moved from the fully upright charging stand to a flat dock. I like this design. It includes a covered area to store toothbrush heads for members of your family.

With the included Amazon clip coupon, I ended up paying about $120 for this toothbrush. It's pricey...yes...but once you start using it with the included gauge, you will look forward to using it every morning.

Love oral-b tooth brushes. The 7000 probably has too many unnecessary features like Bluetooth, and the accessories are not really useful, but it's still the best electric tooth brush you can buy. The charger says 110v but it charges in India (!) not sure if it's going to be a problem

1.0 out of 5 stars subpar battery
Reviewed in India on July 21, 2023
I bought this believing that it is from a reputable brand, so, it would provide long-lasting performance. Unfortunately, after just 3-4 months of use, the battery's condition has deteriorated significantly, almost rendering it useless. The charging process now takes more than 24 hours, and once fully charged, it can only last for 2-3 uses before running out of power again.

I had high expectations for this toothbrush, assuming it would be durable and reliable due to its reputed brand. However, the short battery life and extended charging time have been major disappointments. The inconvenience of having to wait an entire day for it to charge and then experiencing it deplete after just a few uses has been frustrating. This experience has left me questioning the quality of products from Oral B.

First off, how important is your smile? Second, how often do you brush your teeth? Spending money on a tool that you should be using at least twice a day, for a physical attribute that typically defines you, seems like a worth while investment The Oral-B 7000 is worth it. I've come to realize that I've been brushing my teeth wrong up until this purchase. This tooth brush tells you whether you are brushing too hard and ensures you are brushing your teeth long enough. It does not get more convenient than that. I read all the reviews for multiple brushes prior to this purchase and with the exorbitant amount of positive reviews on the Oral-B, I had to give it a shot. I can genuinely say my teeth feel cleaner than they ever did. It feels like I just got cleaning done at the dentist every time I finish brushing my teeth now. It is a sturdy built brush versus some of the other competitors. Its longevity is to be seen but it feels and runs immaculately. It comes with a timer/clock that you attach to your mirror; if you share a bathroom this could be inconvenient but you do not have to mount it. It has an app that gives you feed back and a history of your brushing habits via bluetooth - some say overkill but I always enjoy seeing the data. I read reviews regarding the placement of the buttons being inopportune but I have had no issues. It comes with a chic travelling case as an added benefit. The brush itself is aesthetically pleasing and in the very least gives you some style points.(Oral-B needs some all black brush heads to complete the all black look) Performance, build, and look are all A+. Purchase this brush my friend, you can thank me afterwards.
