Great for Jazz and More

Although it’s tailor-made for jazz, the Ibanez Artcore Expressionist AG95QA fits nicely into an array of musical circumstances. Its eye-catching quilted ash hollow body supplies you with a loud, crisp tonal character that projects strong mids and abundant low end. Plug into a high-headroom tube amp, and you’ll love the smooth, nuanced tones you get from the AG95QA’s twin Super 58 humbuckers. Or cook your tubes a bit and enjoy a biting, bluesy growl. You’ll appreciate the easy playability of the AG95QA’s 3-piece set-in neck, while its ART-1 bridge ensures ample sustain and tuning stability. Complete with a bound ebony fingerboard, the AG95QA is a fine hollowbody guitar.

Quilted ash hollowbody looks and sounds amazing

Ash is a supremely musical tonewood, which is why Ibanez chose it for the AG95QA. It’s surprisingly loud- and crisp-sounding, with copious amounts of midrange and bass. Its brightness is balanced nicely with a healthy dose of warmth, and everything is framed with a focused, high-end “pop.” The AG95QA’s hollowbody construction also contributes a massive level of projection. Beyond that, you’ll find the AG95QA’s quilted appearance difficult to take your eyes off of.

Super 58 humbuckers deliver smooth, nuanced tones

The Artcore Expressionist AG95QA is loaded with a pair of Ibanez’s Super 58 humbuckers. These pickups are a favorite among jazz musicians including George Benson, Pat Metheny, and John Scofield. That being said, guitarists in other genres love them too. Just ask funk extraordinaire Eric Krasno! With these pickups, you can conjure up everything from a smooth, nuanced sound all the way to a biting, bluesy growl. You’ll also enjoy warm, balanced articulation and excellent response. These flexible humbuckers, along with 3-way pickup switching, supply you with a wide range of usable tones.

All the fat hollowbody tones you love

The AG95QA is great for jazz, rockabilly, and many other styles of music. At Sweetwater, we’ve seen this style of electric guitar used in rock ’n’ roll, fusion, and even country. Get the AG95QA and start playing with big, fat hollowbody tone.

Awesome guitar!

I've owned this guitar for several months now. Although I mainly play Fenders on gigs, this guitar is an absolute joy to play! Pinch harmonics are a breeze on this guitar and, although I use 9s on my fenders) this came with a custom 10-52 gauge set. I have since out on a set of 10-46 gauge set and this thing plays as easy as my two Les Pauls! Not to mention how beautiful the body color and matching pickguard are! Lightweight, pickups sound extremely good, frets and fretboard smooth as silk, the tuners are nice and steady and the guitar stays in tune!
The only downside is it doesn't come with a case or gig bag. That being said, don't let that stop you. The only other thing I think would really help is to pin the bridge. It is a floating bridge so if you remove all of the strings before marking the bridge location, you will have to go through the setup again complete with intonation. A couple of pins to hold the position of the bridge would keep the intonation correct.
This is one easy playing, beautiful looking and sounding guitar. This has sure changed the way I think about Ibanez guitars! If you love a hollowbody, this one will not disappoint!

Far exceeds all expectations!!!

I had wanted a full hollow body electric guitar for years, but never pulled the trigger. Semi-hollow bodies are so much fun to play that a true hollow body would be a logical next step. This guitar sounds amazing even without an amp!! I have used it with a Fender, Katana, Spark, and Carvin amps. All of them sang with this guitar. The guitar even gets a great dirty sound, which is amazing for a hollow body. The playability is astounding and there is no buzz. The person who set it up did the usual perfect job. Bob Mondok did his usual excellent support, and even double checked with me for the set up specifics. Great attention to detail all around! If you want a guitar that can play just about any style of music, plays insanely well, and sounds excellent without an amp, this one is an excellent choice! 3 people played it at a local open mic night and were drooling over how awesome it plays and sounds.

Cant put it down

I own a Gretsch 5420t that I love to play but since this little guy arrived I cannot put it down. The action is great right out of the box, it sounds terrific and the size is so comfortable. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trading my Gretsch any time soon if ever, but this Ibanez is so easy to hold and pick up and play. AND...... it is gorgeous to look at.

One of my all time favorire all around electrics.

This is an outstanding value and right now my favorite guitar for gigs. I have been playing many years and generally gravitate toward a jazz tone. I have an extensive archtop collection but tend to prefer 335s for playing gigs. This guitar was chosen because I really liked my George Benson GB10 - stolen many years ago. I almost ordered the similar Benson model but realized that I really don't like the tone of mini humbuckers.

I was really surprised how good the acoustic unplugged sound is. It does have a small block of wood around the pickups but his doesn't seem to affect projection. The acoustic vibe seems to come through when plugged in with a nice chunky rhythm sound.

Fit and finish is superb. The wood is not like anything I own but gets rave reviews for good looks. Setup and action were near perfect by the Sweetwater team.

The only minor negative is that tuneamatic metal bridges can effect tone. I noticed that the string spacers are all molded for a low E string and I detected some shrill tone on the top two strings (possible rattle). My solution was to make wooden spacers for the E and B string. The saddles on the low wound strings did not create a problem. A wound G string seemed to also help.

So other than the string spacers this an excellent all around guitar that is comfortable to play with a huge range of tones produced by some excellent pickups. This is an excellent value.

Insanely Great Jazz guitar

OK .. I got one of these last year and I am thrilled. The only small improvement was to put non a solid ebony bridge. This comes with a metal bridge that liked to break E and B strings, no more. With that it is the best archtop I have ever handled.. And I'm 70..handeled hundreds of different guitars.Pickups are superb. For $... it's an insane value.
