GREAT CONCEPT, BUT, NEEDS IMPROVEMENT!!

GREAT CONCEPT, BUT, NEEDS IMPROVEMENT!!
The bottom weights could be a tad heavier. Whenever there's a breeze, the screen opens on the bottom.UPDATE: The very bottom inside corners of each side at the center don't have magnets, so, whenever there is a slight breeze, the lack of weight and magnets cause the screen to open, and also allows for bugs and debris to find their way in. I will have to buy additional magnets, and will also place additional magnets along the bottom as well because there aren't enough to keep the screen from losing to a small breeze, let alone a gust of wind. Also, having to make minor adjustments over time, to find the, "sweet spot," the velcro has failed to stay adhered to the stucco. Had I known that it was going to come undone, I would've at least marked where it was originally so I wouldn't lose my, "place." But, as it only came undone in some, but not all areas, this led to the overall run of the entire velcro strip to have wrinkles, so, I had to remove the entire strip on both sides, and replaced it with stronger velcro. My previous gripe was: The velcro doesn't stick very well to (smooth) stucco. In order to get a proper fit, I had to beyond the wood trim/frame. After one side failed. I used glue before putting the velcro on the other side, let it set, and it seems to be holding. But, ran out of velcro to finish the other side and no amount of glue would hold once the velcro became, "unstuck." The velcro also has several creases which makes a smooth install difficult. I suggest installing velcro first, give it time to stick, then put the screen up, because any adjustments will cause the velcro to become unstuck. There are several places where the screen is a different color. No idea why. Also, due to the heavy creasing, there are several spots we're there are "divets" in the screen. Unfortunately, several are near the center of the screen where the magnets are, where you enter/exit, so, I see these as points where it will tear soon.UPDATE: Yes, these weak points are, in fact, showing early signs of wear already, becoming very thin, very quickly departed the overall thickness of the screen, which is rather sturdy except for these weak spots. The entering/exit will take some time getting used to. Since you literally have to walk through it until the magnets no longer make contact, or poke your finger between the magnets to get the screen to open. Because of this you want to make sure the side especially are well adhered. The constant pull puts a lot of stress on them and will quickly become undone.UPDATE: because of the spacing between the magnets, its actually rather simple to enter as well as exit through the screen, and the screen just "snaps" closed because of the magnets. If the tension of the sides is too tight, it will cause the screen to come open easily, and also have a hard time closing. Finding just the right tension on both sides and from above prevents these problems. If I were to do it all over again, which, unfortunately, I see myself doing sooner than later due to the weak points the creases made, I would mount the velcro, with glue, first. Give it a full day to set, then attach the screen. I was hoping that, over time, the creases would loosen up, but, they haven't, and trying to find a uniform fit to make it just tight enough to "flatten" out the creases is damned near impossible because the taughtness it needs to be to undo the creases is too taught for the screen to function correctly.I followed instructions so that the screen barely hits the ground, so that it drags just enough, but, not too much. Despite this, over time, I've had to adjust the tension on the screen. Finding the right amount of tension from all sides is not easy. I've tried adjusting from the top center first, then the sides, and this caused it to drag too much and be too loose at the bottom. So, I tried adjusting the sides only, without adjusting the top, and it seems to make it too tight. Having to unvelcro it all on one side, then move it over just a hair, then having to repeat on the other side to fight that perfect setting is a real pain in the a*s. Just when I think I've found the sweet spot, a breeze will blow through, and the dang thing will come apart and open at the bottom. I'm thinking of getting small circle magnets and adding them to the bottom or adding weight "bars," but, that, too, is a pain.FINAL UPDATE: It's frustrating that the design would have a flaw/oversight that has such a big effect on its overall performance. So long as you install the screen far enough away from the garage door itself, you don't have to worry about it sticking to the garage door and getting caught. That being said, I just don't understand why heavier magnets weren't used, and why magnets were not placed at the center corners of each side where they meet in the middle. What added to the frustration was the lacking quality of velcro that was included. Not only did it lack overall adhesion, but the way that it was packaged, created many creases in it, making it very difficult to flatten out. I'm hoping that the company is willing to replace my screen, as I haven't even had it very long, and I am already facing so many issues. Perhaps, also, include some additional velcro as well.We shall see.Again, great concept, and the screen quality overall is very sturdy, and far better than others on the market. It's dark and dense enough to even provide a little privacy. With just a few improvements, it has the potential to be a 5-star product!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect if you live in the world of "Good Enough"
Reviewed in the United States on May 21, 2016
THIS IS AN UPDATE TO MY ORIGINAL REVIEW:

The original mesh was a little too small for my door. I realize now that this was my fault and not the fault of the product. Since it did not fit properly, it did not always close correctly and it soon developed a tear in the bottom corner. The tear was more than just an inconvenience, but my dogs' heads sometimes got stuck in the hole and they would be trapped in the mesh until I realized it and freed them.

Since the hole was becoming an issue for the dogs' safety, but I still needed a mesh on the porch door, I ordered a second and discovered that I could order a larger size. (I know, "DUH" right?) This was even easier to put up since I knew how to do it and since the velcro tape was still on the door frame from the previous mesh. The sticky stuff was still strong and I just had to adjust the location a little and supplement them with new tape. The it was just pull down the old mesh and put up the new mesh.

The new mesh fits perfectly and works near perfectly. There is sometimes a gap at the bottom that does not close all the way. If I nudge it with my foot, it usually closes immediately. I would say that the mesh closes all the way better than 90% of the time.

So, taking into consideration that the right size makes for a more enjoyable experience, I am bumping it up to FIVE STARS. It is still not perfect (but what is?), but it does the job and is better than "good enough."

ORIGINAL REVIEW:
During nice weather, I enjoy spending all my time in my enclosed back porch, overlooking my large back yard, listening and witnessing the nature outside my window. It was fairly easy to put up. It is a bit narrow for the door on which I need it.

I also have three dogs, and when I am working, I was left with the choice of leaving them inside, enclosing them on the porch, or leaving them outside. When outside, they are cut off from their food, and even though there is a large dog house, only two dogs will use it.My remedy as of late has been to prop open the porch door that leads outside, so that the dogs can come and go as they wish to eat or to get out of the sun or rain. The downside is that it leaves a giant opening for insects and whatever else wants to venture in.

I saw a commercial for the Magic Mesh and figured I'd give it a shot. If it works, it would solve the problem until the weather turns cold again. Frankly, I thought the one on TV was the one I was buying. It is not. This is not the one that "clicks," but it is the same basic idea.

So now for the part you care about.

THE PROS:
*It basically does what it says it does

*The material seems durable. I'll let you know how much after a month or so. But for the most part it can handle my dogs going in and out regularly (my one year old blasts through it quickly and forcefully and it stays firm.

*The glue holding the velcro strips onto the door frame is strong, and there is plenty of extra of the velcro strip to replace any pieces that fall away over time.

*The dogs are not afraid of it. When first installed, my dogs just assumed it was a closed door. I gently guided them through it a few times and they figured it out -- some more quickly than others. Part of the trick for the dogs' learning is that they have been conditioned that doors open at the sides, so they were nosing around the door frame looking for an opening, rather than in the middle. After a few days, they all pretty much had it figured out.

THE CONS:
*It is narrow and almost does not fit the door frame. I do not believe that the door frame is extra large. The screen can be adjusted on the velcro to get a tight fit.

*It takes a bit of adjusting and repositioning to get the screen to be tight but also still be able for the magnets to close it.

*There are gaps around the side. So, once it is set up how you want it, you will probably want to seal around the edges with packing tape or something to seal off the gaps and keep smaller insects out.

CONCLUSION:
It's not perfect. But if you are willing to live in the world of "Good Enough" then it is perfect enough. It basically does what it says it does, just not as perfectly as suggested. Those imperfections can be dealt with by supplementing the installation with things like tape around the borders.

I will post a follow up comment as time goes by to inform consumers of how long it lasted and of any issues that developed over time.
