First and foremost, this monitor has virtually no light bleed compared to the Tuff version and even that monitor was very good... but the XG32VC blows it away. I kid you not, if there was ever a gaming monitor that mimicks OLED visuals, it is THIS one. Uniformity is spectacular, clarity is perfect at an approx. viewing distance of 24 inches and in 165 HZ mode, this monitor simply does not flicker or hiccup whatsoever. I run an all Amd machine and the Freesync Premium Pro works like a charm, no matter what I play.
Asus clearly states that if you go into 170 HZ overdrive, along with other visual enhancement modes, you are apt to see some flickering and such. And I can confirm that it indeed happens. So I simply left overdrive turned off and I couldn't be more happy. What the 170 HZ rating tells me is that this monitor has 'margin' to work with and as a result, it can lock 165 HZ all day and all night.
I also own a SpyderX Pro and needed it to dial in my Asus Tuff Gaming counterpart... but not on this display!
While using the Asus Display Widget software, which I highly recommend installing btw, you can jump between all the different modes and see for yourself. In sRGB mode this monitor looks phenomenal and because of that, I've skipped calibrating it. Between my User settings for gaming and sRGB for content creation, this monitor completely fufills my needs. I couldn't be more pleased. As a side note, this monitor ships with a calibration sheet from the factory.
The 1800R curvature is the most I can tolerate... but that is a subjective matter. This panel is NOT OLED but that amount of curvature along with the stunning depth of black it achieves, makes for a very immersive experience.
This monitor is only HDR400 but it is the best one I've ever seen. Personally, I rarely use HDR mode in Windows but I'm happy to know that when I do want to switch to it - this monitor won't disappoint.
HDR600 or better requires an IPS panel and I'm not a fan of IPS glow.
Another thing I've noticed on other gaming monitors is delay/lag coming out of hardware sleep/standby.
The Asus Tuff monitor I had been using for a few years would take a long time coming out of its own imposed 'power down' mode. The XG32VC doesn't have this problem.
My only real gripe with this monitor is the lagginess of the Asus Display Widget. Once it is fully initialized, changing settings are instaneous... but the first 8 to 10 seconds upon opening it fresh (like cold start) has a period of no response. Predictively and consistent. And I'm fine with that. But once it is open and minimized in the Win task bar, it super quick and reactive as it needs to be.
Summary:
The picture quality is unrivaled at this price point.
The built in USB 3.0 hub is an added bonus.
The added ability to use a Windows app to control most everything you'd want to change on the fly, regularly, is a solid "value add" in my book.
Inky, uniform blacks, corner to corner... even in a dimly lit room.
Fairly low power consumption for a monitor of this size - especially in non-HDR mode.
No dead pixels!
Three year warranty!

also, it needs ELMB sync on for the 1ms response times and it dims the hell out of the screen. and when i bought it, it was listed as an IPS panel. come to find out after some googling for other issues i had with it, it is not IPS...so...yeah. kinda misleading.

+ Big and easy on the eyes.
- It does some weird things to the colors in terms of brightness and saturation. A lot of games are now too dark to see unless I set the brightness to max. My old monitor did not have this issue.
- The box is massive. It's quite difficult to store and transport because of how unnecessarily large the box is.
