Comparison between AKG 702's & Sennheiser HD 650

If you're wondering which to buy, buy both! The AKG's are more like your on stage with the performers and the HD650's feel like your about 1/2 way back in the performance space. If I'm listening to Jazz, Big Band, Soul & rock, latin... I like the AKG's. For folk, classical, solo piano, orchestra and some classic small group jazz I like the HD 650's. One is not better than the other, just different. They both do an excellent job of delivering the music. If you plan to plug either into a laptop you'll need an inline amp or headphone amp as the output is not enough to drive these headphones directly from an 1/8" stereo jack.
Either way you go, plug them into a stereo tuner and play them on a radio station 24/7 for about a week to break them in (at a low to med volume)..it'll take some of the high end harshness off of them.
As I've gone back & forth listening to the same music over the past 10 years of owning both, it's interesting how certain musical parts are louder or softer on the two different headphones. I had originally bought both and was going to send one back, but it never happened!

Excelentes Para mezcla de audio

Hace dos años compré los sennheiser hd280 y tienen una respuesta plana buena. Desde que use la primera vez los Akg k702 sentí la comodidad y sobre todo me ayudaron mucho en los balances de mis mezclas . Definitivamente lo recomiendo.

very nice headphones

i bought these to use with the new waves abbey road control room modeling plugin. i have several other headphones and have mostly been relying my trusty old K240M's. maybe not the greatest headphone, but i know how they sound really well because i've been using them forever. i trust them and i like open back headphones because they don't have that plugged up, congested feeling that closed back phones give me. transitioning over to the k702's was pretty seamless. the midrange is really similar but with way more detail in the hi's and low's. they work really well with the plugin and i have changed up my workflow a bit and am checking low end mostly with these and the waves modeler. mixes that i have used this on have translated much better onto other systems and my car. i mix in a smallish room and the low end is the hardest thing to nail. these along with the plugin have been a useful tool for me and money well spent. great time saver. i also just enjoy listening to music on these without the plugin on. they sound great. the ear muffs are extremely comfortable and i have been able to wear for them for hours no problem.

Best Headphones

I have not done any mixing with these, but I can surely I can see why these would be perfect for it!
Extremely lightweight and comfortable, they have that great open sound, that semi open backs provide, but also flat and not at all colored. Not your cheapest option but worth every penny!!!
