This is the "high capacity" lithium battery for the Neato Botvac D5 Connected, and the Botvac Connected - Neato's two high-end models. I bought this battery as an upgrade for my Neato Botvac D3 Connected, which came with a weaker "standard" lithium battery. PLEASE check to make sure your Neato takes lithium batteries before buying this - at the time of this review, the three models listed above are the only ones this battery is compatible with. Anyway, the weaker "standard" lithium battery caused my Neato to go back and recharge twice during the cleaning cycle to finish my house, which is 1300 square feet. It took about 6 hours of cleaning and recharging, for the Botvac D3 Connected to clean my house, which is less than ideal if you're home as it's cleaning.

Installation is easy - remove two screws from the bottom of the Neato (just under the roller), and you'll be able to access the battery. Unplug that one, plug this one in, and screw the cover back on. Turn on the Neato and reconnect it to your Wi-Fi (hold the clean button and the right bumper to turn it off, turn it back on again, sync the Neato app to the Neato's Wi-Fi, and then select your home network), and that's it. This took me about 5 minutes total.

As for the performance, this battery was everything I thought it would be and more! It's double the capacity (4200mah vs 2100mah), and fits into the Botvac D3 Connected without causing any navigational issues from the extra weight/size. Additionally, even though it's "only" double the capacity, it seems to have almost tripled the area it can clean on a single charge. Cleaning my 1300sqf house ran the other battery down 2.5 times - the new battery finished it in a single cycle with some juice left to spare. I know, it's hard to believe... The only explanation I can think of is that maybe the cleaning algorithm is more efficient when it doesn't have to go back to recharge and it's possible that when it resumes where it left off, some areas are getting cleaned twice. I've noticed this behavior when the Neato gets stuck and it has to try to recover it's position when you resume the cleaning cycle, so maybe it's the same with the charging/resuming.

What this means is that the cleaning area of the Botvac D3 with this battery should be exactly the same as the D5. For those of you with houses over 1800 square feet, this makes buying the Botvac D3 Connected a viable option for you. Personally, I bought this battery and the High Performance filters (as another upgrade for the D3) and I still saved about $100 over the cost of the D5, while having most of the same features. I'm a happy customer!

…and Neato won’t admit it, but they’ve “updated” their firmware so that the robot won’t work consistently after the slightest degradation of battery. So now I have to buy a new battery at least once a year. My original Neato robot (since retired) went over three years with the same battery; it just eventually took a second recharge to complete the house. And that was twice a week, every week.
Now, after a few months of use, we get error messages, or it skips rooms; runs fine, but “loses its mind.” But drop in a new battery and VOILA, it suddenly “remembers” those rooms it was missing, and Neato makes some $$ on parts. What a deal. 🤨

This one fits perfectly and now my little Rosie is working again.
