Publisher's summary

Philo Trout: retired Navy SEAL. Former bare-knuckles boxer. Current crime scene cleaner.

Philo Trout just wanted to start over. He moved to Philadelphia to keep his past a secret. His new life as a crime scene cleaner is quiet - until he discovers that many of his “clients” are coming up short on their organ count.

As Philo tries to outrun his past, a coworker can’t remember his own. Patrick was found brutally beaten, and is now an amnesiac as a result.

When the connection between his coworker’s history and missing organs begins to emerge, Philo is determined to solve the puzzle. The trail of clues leads Philo into a dark conspiracy.

A brutal organization will stop at nothing to protect their secret. And Philo’s past as a fighter might be his only route to the truth...if he can survive that long.

Hiding Among the Dead is a dark and action-packed thriller by Chris Bauer. If you enjoy Elmore Leonard and Breaking Bad, then you’ll love this edgy, heart-stoppingly suspenseful book.

Praise for the book:

“Couldn’t pry me away...Bauer writes with authenticity...A knockout original story, with a host of equally original characters. Certainly not your typical crime fiction, and that’s a good thing.” (David Swinson, author of Trigger)

Unique and Interesting

An unique, well told crime thriller about a newbie forensic crime cleaning company owner and some very odd crime scenes, where several victims appear to be missing organs, and the mystery behind them.

Philo Trout, the new owner of Blessid Trauma Forensic Cleaners, has to get to the bottom of things and protect the people he cares for and himself, in the process. To do this he has to navigate the ongoing police investigation, placate a powerful Philadelphia-based Hawaiian mobster and come to terms with his own storied past.

With a cast of quirky, well drawn characters, an excellent twisty plot and world-class voice narration - I strongly recommend this audiobook to anyone who likes crime thrillers and mysteries.

Mr Bauer is a true talent and I see that there is now a second book based on these characters and cannot wait to get my hands on it.

Fans of jack reacher? you will dig this

I highly recommend this book. the characters echo in your head for days- so engrossing. Excellent narration work.

i have read jack reacher books and this book is similar in a good way- has all of the fascinating twists and turns, police scratching their heads, fights, gore, former soldier on the trail of some criminals-without the contrived female attraction story. You cannot even imagine what happens at the surprise twist at the end!

Not a good story

I listened to this book for almost 3 hours and still had no idea what this story was about. The narrator is monotoned and needs improvement. The story jumps around to much in the beginning and ,makes it hard to follow.
